After reading the reviews this shop has, I was very excited to take my little sister, who was visiting me, for a nice Gal QT. Sadly, the experience we had was not just disappointing as far as quality, but straight up upsetting from a custom service point of view. The experience began on okay terms. We were asked if we had an appointment and then instructed to pick a color. All good up to now. After 15 minutes we were seated. I was a little bit uneasy because their cleaning of the foot spa is NOT at all thorough. Peoples' feet get soaked and scrubbed here, ladies... you MUST use soap to wash the damn thing. Red flag #1. I was disgusted but didn't want to make the woman who stood up from that chair feel bad. But eeewww! Moving on to the service: I have clean feet (as does my sister) and this is saying a lot since I don't like feet, but our feet are "nice". Not much work is needed, so I asked her not to scrub my feet of hard... She didn't listen. My food arch was in pain... It was nearly raw. When I got home, it was still in red and in pain (4 days later, I can still see the marks!). I wasn't rude and just said "ouch...you can stop. Thank you". The mani: I had to file my own nails because she gal was doing away with them! I don't have long nails... Again, vigorous filing isn't necessary! This is obvious to anyone but this gal. I only needed a little shaping and cuticle clean up (whichever didn't happen at all!!). Ok.. I was still determined to have a good time with the sis, so I didn't make a big deal of it. And the lady was trying to be a good conversationalist, so I just let it go. Moving forward... The job was "done" and as my sister was waiting for her nails to dry, I went up to pay for the both of us. I paid with card and left tip on the card. Then I read a sign saying that tips were requested in cash. I didn't have cash. So credit card it was. I went to my sister and asked if she had cash. She did and walked up to the counter and handed her an extra $5. This is where I get motivate to write this review: as my sister turned around, the woman taking the money tosses the bill on the table (as if rejecting it) and says something to another woman, WHO THE DECIDES TO YELL AT ME FROM ACROSS THE ROOM "just $5 for the both of you?!". I was shocked that anyone would on this in DEMAND for a tip. I respectfully said "no, I've already left tip on the card". But let's be real, even if I hadn't... Tip is TIP! It's extra that you earn via your performance. Given the shitty performance throughout, I wouldn't have the gull to yell out at a customer if front of all to question their tip. Period! I've worked as a bartender and waitress. I get the struggle, trust me. I also believe that the "tipping" system in this country is bullshit. Pay people fair wages and don't put it on the customer to assess a performance via "tips".. That's a problem in this country. This being said, I don't appreciate the attitude taken and the way I was treated as a customer (especially I front of others). It was incredibly rude, inappropriate and absolutely unacceptable behavior. I am a very respectful patron wherever I go. I believe in treating those who provide services with due respect. I expect this to be mutual: I expect to also be treated with respect... And this most certainly was not the case at The Nail Spa. I left feeling embarrassed and upset (more so because my sister was put through that as well... All we wanted was a low maintenance, relaxing afternoon). I will not be going to this place again and will tell my friends in the neighborhood to also refrain from going to this place. Zero stars. Read Less
