I recently started a new job in Oakland and have been on the hunt for a new nail place. Posh Polish is in a very convenient location for me so I decided to try it out. Plus point number one is the fact that it was very easy to get an after work appointment on the same day.The interior is clean, calm and relaxing. The chairs are comfortable and I like the tubs they use for pedicures. The woman that did my pedicure took her time to clean and shape my nails. She left my feet feeling clean and beautiful. This was my first time at Posh Polish and unfortunately, it will definitely be my last. The ladies were "nasty-nice" and made my partner and I feel extremely uncomfortable. Also, the woman that did my pedicure was so busy talking and joking with her coworker that she neglected to file my toenails nor put cuticle softener before cutting my cuticles. It wasn't until i pointed it out that she goes "oh!" And decides to actually be present and focused. Smh. The best! I've been to a few nail places for gel manicures in SF and Oakland.  This place is hands down the best. It's clean, efficient, friendly and reasonably priced.  They don't use those jetted tubs for pedicures, but bowls for each client, which is cleaner. They have a lot of color options in a natural line that doesn't have the bad 5.  The top coat they use for gel is the kind that keeps your gel mani from taking on that discolored, dirty look. Quynh does my manicures and she is Amazing! Gentle, quick and so much attention to detail. I recommend her.  She did chrome powder on my gel this time and it came out so perfect and pretty. I'm rough on my hands and my gel lasts so well and my nails have been staying long and healthy since Quynh has been doing them.  Make an appointment though because they're always busy. Another plus? This place is conveniently located, but I wouldn't go back again. My manicure started peeling off within 24 hours of my visit, which was so disappointing. The pedicure chairs do not have an attached sink, so a sort-of bucket is brought to each chair for the service. It felt unclean and wasn't a relaxing experience. Read Less

Ladies, if you're in the Oakland area looking to get your nails did, look no further. I've been coming here for a couple of months now and this is the first time I've had such consistently great results that I felt like I had to write a review!The ladies here are not only nice and not pushy, they pay incredible attention to the tiniest detail. So if you're in a rush, this may not be the place for you (I've never had an appointment last shorter than an hour no matter what I did). They really do everything they can to make your nails all that they can be I work pretty close to here so I come during lunch hour in the week and it can get pretty busy so I just call the morning of and ask for a noon appointment and I've never had a problem. It's a bit run down but I LOVE the women who work here. I was on a work trip when I decided to get a mani-pedi at Posh Polish before dinnertime. They greeted me, had me pick out my polish and sat me in a pedicure chair. Before I knew it, two of them were working on my nails and chatting away. I decided to do a gel manicure for the first time and wanted the nail polish to match the non-gel polish which had already been applied to my toes. One of the women was so sweet she layered different colors so it would be the perfect match! I've never ever had someone take such time and effort to do a color match at any other nail salon, this left me completely blown away by her thoughtfulness. During my appointment we talked about my home state of Hawaii and how they all dreamed of visiting me one day so they could eat all of our tropical fruits and go to the beach. I wish I could bring the women in this salon to Honolulu just so I could see them every 2-3 weeks for a regular nail appointment! I had a great manicurist named Quyin. She spent a ling time in my gel manicure, and it looked great! She was also really friendly, which made the experience a lot more enjoyable. Great location, fantastic technicians. the prices are very reasonable. I've had 3 techs since I've been coming here and each does a great and thorough job - especially on gel. Only 4 stars for two reasons: 1. Their thoroughness can be really slow2. They often stop during to take calls and book appointments in their (big ole) appointment book. I am rating 1 star for customer service. The woman who did my gel nails made them look ok but made me feel like crap. I felt like I was imposing on her by just being there. I understand having a bad day at work - after all, I've worked in the service industry as a waitress I know how tiring it can be to deal with customers. But honestly this lady would take break in the middle of my manicure to FACETIME!! I was sitting there with wet nails just waiting for her to finish her conversation. Multiple times. The ladies were so gentle with my manicure and pedicure. Especially with my cuticles which is always anxiety inducing for me, I barely felt them clipping them. It's been two weeks exactly and the only chip in my gel manicure was self-induced (I work with my hands lifting heavy equipment). A few times that I was there, the manager gave the same time slot to 4 people when there were only two people working. Each time I walked in, he asked ""do you have an appointment""? I made an appointment for 9:30AM on 5/7/2011. He called me at 9:10AM and asked if I will be there on time. I confirmed. I walked in at 9:30AM. He already assigned Tammy, the girl I have appointment with, to work on another customer. I walked out and went to Diva Nail which is 1 minute walk distance. This place runs about $10+ more than your average nail salon, but it's worth it If you're entertaining an out-of-town guest or just want to relax with a friend by your side. The lavender foot soak is a nice touch. The first time I went, they gave us some sugar scrub thing BEFORE telling us it cost extra. Now, I always ask for the price list beforehand. I've been here a few times with a friend who was expecting. The organic polishes and such made her feel clean and safe. Also, it's in the middle of Oakland, so a really great half-way meeting place. I recently went to Posh Polish for the first time and had a fantastic manicure & pedicure. The decor is beautiful and the staff is very friendly and professional. I have never received so many compliments on my nails. They do an awesome french manicure! Their pedicure massage chairs are the most comfortable I've ever experienced. My 401(k) is worthless. My pants are too tight - in the waistline only. My ""friends"" don't want to go out with me now that I can't pay for their drinks anymore. But I don't care, because these angels of mercy rubbed my worries away in an organic bliss of hot Peppermint lotion and some thing else that they told me was good for me.
