I always get the best service here. They go above and beyond on service. The ladies do give you tips of what to look for in someone doing your nails. I always love the area where it's located and of course the lovely ladies. So nice very pleasant. If you Groupon the place you can get a great deal. Only 1 lady doing nails, there really small cute but that didn't get my nails done. They don't do acrylic so I asked for a pedi. She went to see if they had time. She came back and told me that she would start my toes after she painted the lady that was in her chair. Time goes by and then someone comes and reminding her of an appointment in five minutes. She had wrote down that lady who came in his appointment so she forgot about it. She told me never mind and I had to leave. They don't answer their phone so I decided to just show up. Big mistake. This place is exceptional. I'm not going to lie I was a little put off, even annoyed, that they are by appointment only...as I work up the street and sometimes enjoy getting a pedicure on a lunch break whim.They book up fast, but I promise you...it was WORTH the wait. The entire salon is small but decorated in a very cute shabby chic style. The two ladies who were working at the time were very polite, pleasant, and quiet. I ended up doing the champagne pedicure with came with champagne, such a nice touch. The entire experience was gentle, I could tell the tech really cared about her job. My feet actually smelled like chocolate for the rest of the day! Bisou Nail Lounge is such a charming nail shop. The staff is wonderful, headed by Masako from Japan, and the decor is luxe & sweet. Plus, I didn't even know it was possible to have an organic nail salon! Only in the SF Bay, right? They use only natural, organic, biodynamic products to create treatments like "Chocolate Therapy," "Green Tea" or "Strawberry Champagne." I thought perhaps they gave you a little square of chocolate while you get a pedicure, but she actually created a chocolate exfoliating scrub for my feet & calves which felt great & smelled delicious. Such a hidden gem in Oakland! The place is very clean and chic inside and very cozy! The women are so friendly and nice. When getting a gel manicure at most places they just do the basic. OVERVIEW:  Do NOT waste your time or money. If I could give zero stars, I would. By far the worst pedicure experience that I have ever had, and I am very easy to please - I know how hard nail technicians work and that they are both artists and body workers. After contacting the owner Keina about my bad experience (my pedicure was chipping after four days!), she sent me a condescending email telling me to go elsewhere and refused to refund any portion of my money.SUMMARY: The place is dirty (really), chairs are not cleaned between customers, soaking bowls for feet are not cleaned or disinfected between customers, staff is disinterested to outright rude, staff does not communicate well, was given a hard time about my Groupon, was given the worst pedicure experience of my life.DETAILS: I purchased a Groupon for the  Wine Therapy Pedicure and excitedly booked an appointment for last weekend.  On arrival I was told that they would not honor the Groupon (WTF?!) for a Wine Therapy pedicure and that we could only get either a Champagne Pedicure or a Chocolate Pedicure.  The staff was disinterested and were obliviously rude.We settled for the Champagne Pedicure.When we first entered Bisou, I was struck by the fact that we given a perfunctory greeting, and that the staff did not wipe down or disinfect the chairs between customers. In addition, the salon is not very clean. The foot soaking bowls were not, as far as I can tell, cleaned or disinfected between customers.Then we come to the actual service. It was Misako (Hisako? Please forgive me if I do not get her name correct!) who did my pedicure, and from the moment she met me she seemed very unhappy to be there.   Misako was, in short, rude. She barely communicated with me, and when it came to the massage portion, she simply did not give me a good massage - her movements were confined to awkwardly rubbing the top and bottom of my shins, and she did not do the thorough massage that I expected. When I politely asked Misako to massage the ball and arch of my feet, she literally rolled her eyes at me (my friend noted this immediately, that is now obvious it was), and gave me the worst massage I have ever had in my life.I have had bad pedicure experiences only twice in my life, and Bisou was one of them. Went for a Pedi here with my Mom, it was cool, the atmosphere felt organic with flower pedals in the warm water bowl (Water bowls aren't connected to the chairs) and offering a Champagne or Chocolate pedicure, sounded cool, they even offered a glass of Champagne and a separate Mani.
