I received a good manicure and pedicure and felt like the price was pretty reasonable, especially for Newport. The store is not the prettiest and the service isn't amazing, but the quality of my manicure and pedicure seems good. I think this is a solid three-star salon. First couple times I went here the service was amazing! I've probably had 5-6 mani pedi here with added neck massages. I only had one bad lady out of all of them. She was distracted by her phone and totally rushed my service. All the other times I felt amazing pampered and had great service. I LOVE this location. Even driving into the parking lot makes me happy. :) I got a gel manicure on a weekday (I'm sure weekends might be busier) and had a great experience. I was greeted when I first walked in and was able to get an appointment quickly. And most importantly, my nails turned out exactly how I wanted them. If you want sub par customer service go here. They act like they are doing you a favor. Customer service is severely lacking. I mean the mani pedi is 100 and I don't mind paying if the service is good. They painted my nails the wrong color then got offended when I told them the color is wrong. They were sort of throwing my nails and feet around and talking to each other. I called twice to double check on my appointment and they still didn't have me in the books.  There's one girl I go to thats good here but she wasn't there the last time I went. The thing is that I dont mind the price and I tip 25 on top if the service is good. This last time was horrible. They dont care because their location is busy and people will continue to patronize the business regardless of their rudeness. Very poor service. Besides that I'm 36 weeks pregnant and their chair doesn't recline, their pillows are like rocks - I have never been SO uncomfortable before in my life. Are you able to give zero stars??? DIRTY. Got my face and upper lip waxed a week ago and STILL trying to get rid of the FUNGAL INFECTION from the DOUBLE-DIPPED wax stick!! Horrified...and have a dermatologist appt tomorrow to make sure this isn't something worse that came out of the wax after they most likely double dipped while waxing someone's genitals. I'm absolutely disgusted.The attached photos are my face a week into an intense facial routine...this is better than when it started, so just imagine when I woke up the next day.As an employee of a different store in Fashion Island, I'm ashamed an establishment with standards this low is still open at this center. First of all I want to be clear about why I'm giving this salon 5 stars....The main reason is AVA!!!! Hands down she is the absolute best and I'm super picky! I work at NM and there is a high expectation of us in regards to our appearance.It took a few times for me and the front desk staff to get used to each other. I work at Fashion Island and have very little me time. If I make an appointment I expect them to be on schedule. As of now that is never a problem.My complaint is about the size of the salon and I feel a little cramped in here. But AVA is so amazing and I will sit in tight quarters for her any day! I'm normally not one to leave bad reviews but after the way my nails turned out I felt like I had to. I went with my sister to get our nails done before our vacation. After picking my color for gel they started working on them. Somehow they grabbed the wrong color and started doing that. I had to have them stop and start over. When they finished the nails a few had bubbles in them and 2 have bumps of something in them :( they also didn't clean up around the nails so I have polish on my skin. Poorly done and poorly finished. It's appalling that they could see how they turned out and be ok with the finished product. They also don't have matching regular polish for the toes. They just look for a color that appears to be similar but what they grabbed for my toes didn't match at all. My nails are pink/coral and my toes are orange. The massage they give with lotion isn't really a massage it's more like just slathering it on and that's about it. Nothing luxurious and definitely not a massage. On top of it all, the price was pretty expensive. I don't mind paying a premium for nails if they are done great and I leave feeling pampered. This place delivered neither for the price I paid. I'm likely going to go tomorrow to another place and have them redone properly. Read Less

Conviently located inside the Atrium at Fashion Island, this place is the perfect location for a quick mani-pedi when you're out shopping! Always had excellent service here. If you have more time, then they provide a relaxing experience with massages and complimentary bottled water. I've been here numerous times over the years.  It is definitely a more elevated atmosphere for a Happy Nails salon.  Most recently I came in for a gel manicure and a pedicure.  They definitely have a beautiful selection of colors and the location is very convenient.  Overall, I was pleased with how my mani/pedi turned out. It's definitely not the cleanest environment.  I had to ask the gal that did my nails to clean the nail clipper with alcohol (she seemed slightly bothered by that).  They also reused the nail files though, which is pretty gross. However, the service here continues to be sub-par.  The girls that did my nails never smiled - NOT ONCE!  I repeatedly said thank you to them and I never got any response.  In addition, they have raised their prices pretty significantly.  For that price, most salons offer champagne or wine, but that's not the case here.  If I head back here, it will simply be due to convenience. I work across the street from Fashion Island, so I really appreciate the convenient location. I cam during my lunch break, they were very full, but I only waited 10 minutes before they were able to start on my gel manicure.I asked to look at their gel colors, but they told me that whoever did my nails would show me the colors? Seemed like a waste of time since I was sitting there waiting anyway. So someone did bring over a small selection of colors, luckily it had the one I was looking for.  I am not sure why they do not have the colors available for someone to look at while they are waiting.However, the person who did my nails did a great job and even offered to do an extra coat of polish. Not only is this one of the best Happy Nails in the area, it's an overall great nail salon. It can get crowded, due to its good location, so if you go on a weekend definitely make an appointment. All the nail techs have been very professional and do a great job that always last longer than manicures from other salons. I like that they give you fingerless gloves for the UV lamps. And, there's a huge choice of colors, especially for gels. I am always satisfied after a manicure or pedicure here. Read Less

I needed my nails done and I was in the area so I have it a shot since it had 4 star reviews back to back ! (shocking but I see why) best job I've ever experienced on my nails . very precise , efficient , the lady who did my nails was a perfectionist and idk her name but I think they're all good . they don't do crap work here . they have OPI gel polish . The person who did my pedicure was a sweet, charming young woman, and worked a long time. I did not get to check her work right away because my hands were wrapped in hot-oil treatment, and by the tine we were done it was very late in the evening. However, when I got home I saw how butchered my toenails were, and how rough, uneven, and chopped my cuticles and skin were. I definitely will not return to any Happy Nails. Read Less

This place is absolutely terrible.  Cannot believe there's a nail salon like this in the Fashion Island mall.   I came here today because it was convenient since its close to The Dry Bar. The staff is very very rude!! The entire place is filthy and run down!  It's gross!  Customer service is worse.  I had a terrible experience by the way i was treated.  I had to call for the manager half way thru to bring someone else to finish because the girl that was doing  the pedicure was doing such a terrible job.  I almost got up and walked out in the middle of them doing my nails.  No effort, careless, and would not cut down my nails like i asked her to do.  Both girls had really bad attitudes.The chairs are run down,  they have no nail polish to choose from.  And their all old and stale. Got charged 60 dollars for gel fill and pedicure.  I asked the manager what the breakdown was  and she said 30 for gel fill and 30 for pedicure.  Omg.. i didn't want to pay them at all..both my hands and feet turned out terrible.   Will never back.  I do my nails every other week  and have never experienced this before. Worst mani pedi I ever had. My right toe was left bloody, and my right foot was bloody after having callous removed.  They forgot to fill the foot bowl with warm water and did not add any bath salts.  The woman who did my manicure only put 1 coat of nail polish.  This place is not cheap either.  I will never go to a Happy Nails again. Perhaps I am spoiled by Manhattan, NY nail salons. They have limitless color choices in nail polish, long last polish and gel polish.  They also have nail dryers and fast dry drops.  They also spend a great deal of time and effort.This was not my experience.Not even a fan to dry wet nails in NPB? I've been here twice and for some reason I sort of had a negative view of Happy Nails. No clue why. Here's why this place rocks:1) OPEN LATE! Where else can you get your mai-pedi at 9pm? So great to be able to squeeze it in for working girls like me with a busy schedule. 2) The ladies are SO NICE! They actually talk to you and are very sweet rather than talking trash in Vietnamese behind your back.3) QUALITY! My nails look absolutely fab. Gel mani lasted the full two weeks.4) Great product, great colors, and it's a busy location so the polish isn't all gross and dried out then diluted with polish thinner.5) FAST service. These girls get you in and out.6) Nice dry coat - my toenails did not chip or smudge at all.7) Reasonably priced. 55 for gel mani and pedi. Not the cheapest, not the most expensive, but pretty middle of the road.8) Convenient location at Fashion Island. SO perfect for running a few errands before or after.
