I just went here to get my hair blown out before a party. They made me wait over a half hour after my appointment time and when I went to the front to check in there were two girls, one of them being my hair dresser, just chatting away.Once she came to see me she asks if I want to wash it? And I was like yes.. (Is that not why people come there?) and she was like well I'm concerned since there's a chance of rain. Um pretty sure if I made the appointment, waited over a half hour, and just said what I wanted then yes I do want a full blow out.Then she washed my hair and kept getting water all over my wool sweater so I asked if I could have a towel and she said they were washing all their towels but gave me a damp one. Finally she clips up my hair to do the blow dry and partially dries the bottom part and curls it while leaving the rest in the clip. I've had a million blow outs and they always get the entire blow out then they do curling. Also, I have frizzy curly hair so if you don't blow dry it all then it forms to the clip. The worst part was she was tearing out the fragile pieces in the front of my hair line with what looked like some sort of men's comb. The hair around my head now looks crimped and there is definitely breakage. One last thing if management is reading, please look at how dirty your water glasses look. I've gotten great blow-dries here with Claire for the past year. It's clean and in a great location and I always find parking. However, booking is a pain. The receptionist position has been unstaffed for the last month or so. The website doesn't work for booking with a particular stylist. So it is hard to book services there these days. Pros:   Great blow-dry, clean, great location and easy parking.   Cons:   Pain to book services without a receptionist or workable online booking system (you can't book your favorite stylist online).By contrast, Drybar (Westlake) has a professional manager who is the receptionist/cashier and a great online booking system.   Alex's Salon in downtown SB has easy and seamless online booking.   It's a mystery how they stay in business without any local management. The salon was clean and modern.  No owner on premises EVER.  Receptionist could care less if you get an appointment or not.  Very few operators seem to be on the floor.  Marisol is a good stylist, but gets little or no help from any management personnel.  Usually when I call for an appointment I reach a recorded  message to leave my name and number or text.. Seemingly have never received a timely call back.  Very few operators available to book appointments with. I found Hannah the owner almost two years ago. I had given up on ever finding a good nail Technician. Then Hannah did my nails! Beautiful, consistant, work! This lady is a true artist with nails! My nails have never been more beautiful since finding her! I drive from Marysville to get them done, I won't go anywhere else! I've been getting pedicures for the last ten years, and have visited every nail salon I could locate in the city of Folsom. Having never been really satisfied with any of them, I was constantly on the lookout for a better salon. One day I walked into Essence Nail and Spa to try them. Hannah greeted me and sat me down, started the warm water, and let my feet soak. Before she started the pedi, she examined my nails and told me I had a fungus. After the spa treatment she put a fungicide on my nail, which I've followed up with for several weeks. Now my nail is healing, the soreness has gone away, and my toes feel great again. That meant that we had a leisurely morning of waking up, getting ready and hanging out, instead of doing the hair and makeup march starting early in the morning. Plus, everyone looked great and it was less expensive than hiring a team to come to us. Though the salon changed ownership between the time that I booked them for wedding services and the day of our wedding, everything carried on as planned. We had a wonderful experience. I can't recommend Just Blow Drys enough. Yolanda did my makeup and I knew after my trial that I could trust her to do my makeup for any event. She made me look like a glowing angel! I wanted my look to be natural on my face and glamorous on my eyes and lips and it came out exactly how I wanted. Yolanda is really sweet and flexible too, making the whole getting ready experience really fun and memorable. Andrea did an amazing job with my hair, and she was flexible and sweet every time we chatted. I did two hair trials because I wasn't sure if I wanted to wear my hair up or down. Then I tweaked my style again on the day of the wedding and she was up for it. I appreciated her flexibility and dedication to getting my hair just how I wanted it. The stylist are AMAZING at this establishment ~ Natasha is my favorite ~ Unfortunately, on my last visit, the salon was in need of a good cleaning and the shampoo chairs had threadbare upholstery. I went yesterday with an 11:30 appt. I confirmed appt again at 10:30 to make sure I was all set as I had a make up appt at 1:00pm in Santa Barbara. When I arrived 10 minutes early the stylist was not there. I was told she'd be in any minute and to please take a seat. By 11:35 I asked the first of 3 times if stylist was on her way. The receptionist told me she had spoken to the stylist and there was a lot of traffic and she was running late. I waited and waited and asked again at 11:50 where stylist was. I was told again that she spoke to her and she was on the way. Finally stylist showed up at 12:00! 30 minutes late and I was stressed so it was not at all enjoyable or relaxing. The stylist did do a fine job on my hair but had to do me a break neck speed so I could make it to my next appt. I would not recommend this place as they were not very forthcoming or truthful, and did nothing to remedy my unhappiness. Read Less

I had a bad experience here. The stylist seemed like she didn't know what she was doing and my hair showed it. I asked her to fix my bangs after I paid and she was very nice about it. Here's why I would never come here: my stylist coughed into my towel and used it on me. I didn't say anything because I would have made a scene. She then proceeds to cough into her hands and continues to work on my hair. I should've said something....what was I thinking?!? I just don't understand how someone can think this is ok?!? I'm assuming she's new because she didn't know where anything was and my hair looked like I got my girlfriend to curl my hair. She didn't blow dry it in sections so my hair was super flat. Brides and bridesmaids, learn from my experience and do not book this salon. I sent my five bridesmaids to Shine (now called "Just Blow Drys") and was deeply disappointed in the way they were treated. The styles they were given did not even closely match the description/photo I sent (weeks in advance). When they tried to ask for subtle tweaks and changes, they were either snapped at or rudely ignored. They all left the salon offended and worried that I would be disappointed. Not the nice morning of beauty I planned for them and paid for in full (including 20% gratuity) in advance. The front desk girl Jen is careless and booked my appointment on the wrong day with no confirmation call.  My stylist ( young short Hispanic girl) said  the owner is on a long extended vacation and spoke very negatively about her. I have tried this place a few times and it has been a mess every time. I gave them more than 1 try because the closest Dry Bar is in Westlake. First time a 45 minute blow dry took 2 hours and 2 people because the had no idea how to do a real blow dry on long hair. Out of desperation before an interview I tried again after waiting for 10 min they asked if I would try a different stylist, I said no because when I booked they seemed confident this was the stylist that could do long hair, I was then told okay she is just parking her car. I sat for 20 minutes before they informed me that really the stylist hadn't left her house yet. I promptly left. Someone needs to tell this Salon about finishing cream! So disappointed. 4 of us went for a wedding. Hair frizzed before we left the salon. They didn't have A/C on in the store so our blow dry lasted all of 10 minutes. One of our party asked for a straight blow dry and the stylist insisted on styling with curls.  The day prior to our appointments I was called and asked to pay a deposit.   Find another salon.  I did notice that there was a man doing a pedicure and he looked like he was doing a great job. Initially, I had an issue with my Groupon, but Linda (manager) totally went above and beyond in taking care of it! Had a Groupon and found this place to be good enough. It doesn't have that Montecito simple, high-end vibe. The stylists here seem to be down home girls (talking about a neighboring shopkeeper's disagreeable attitude and literally talking over the heads of their clients). The woman who did my blow out took her time (a good thing) and the result was a bit too ready-for-prom for a middle-aged woman. It was fine. Good enough. I can do a better job shaping loose curls on my own (and I'm not coordinated), though my hair was infinitely less frizzy with the blow out here. Worth $20, but not any more. Like I said, I can do better on my own and I am not skilled by any stretch. I have had a number of better blow outs after haircuts and color. Wanted to love it, but it was merely okay. I noticed another not-completely-satisifed client futzing with her own hair as a stylist helplessly watched. I get the impression these girls don't have the skills other stylists have. Always happy with the results.I love this place.  I've had a few different stylists since they opened here, and only one time been disappointed...but he's no longer there. Great dry bar!My fiance got an up-do for the Red Feather Ball in October 2014, and had a great experience.  Was offered champagne as soon as she walked in... how can you go wrong with that?The lady who helped her was extremely friendly, and did a great job.  She was shown 3 different pictures that my fiance wanted all put together into one up-do, and she pulled it off effortlessly. Unfortunately my experience here was lackluster.  The salon is located on the cutest street and is in a prime location.  It was frustrating however when I had to step over three employees blocking the stairs and door while they smoked and chatted on their cell phones.  The front desk girl was very unprofessional and I had to wait about five minutes before she even acknowledged me to take my name.  She also seemed flustered when two women came in right behind me.  Overall, my blowout was good.  Not the best I have ever had, but it was good. I was scheduled with Rhonda who was super personable, professional, and gave a great shampoo!I don't think I would ever return and I definitely would not recommend it to friends.  I am all for having fun, but this place was like a college sorority house with girls giggling and gossiping the entire hour I was there.  I think the work would be better IF the employees were a little more professional.
