Liz is AWESOME! I read the reviews posted and this has it been the experience I have had. There is a wait sometimes, however this is due to her doing great nails. And she gives me the best pedicures I've ever had. Sometimes I just get a color change on my toes and she is sooooooo fast. It they always look fantastic. I get so many compliments on my nails and I have no creativity. I HIGHLY recommend her (even if it causes me to wait a little longer). She does go fast and it's not to be rude but to get you in and out and have her clients not wait long. However even though she is quick ... it is top not quality. I have OCD when it comes to my nails and before finding Liz I would always find something wrong before I even got home and would cry to my husband. You are guaranteed bad service, lousy nails by Liz and an attitude!! Do not go here unless you want to sit in the worst nail salon in Modesto!!!  I went in for a fill and a pedi. I requested that all the old color should be removed because I wanted clean nails.  I asked her to shorten my nails a little more, which she did unevenly.  She did not like that I asked her to even out two of the nails. I noticed one nail was slightly lifted on one side and had a little something under it.  I told her I was going to choose a frosty clear nail color and it would show through.  Liz became annoyed when I did not like the color I chose. I told her the color did not match the sample and I did not like it.  She removed the color from the one nail and I chose another.  When she was done I looked at my nails and I could see that she left dirt under the lifted nail and applied acrylic over it.  I was so overly frustrated at this point.  Lastly I asked her to please fix the nail.  I expected her to redo the nail.  Her way of fixing it was to first tell me "if you get cut and bleed it's  not my fault", she then clipped the side of my nail!!!  She then told me she had an appointment coming and could not do a pedi!! This is the worst place ever. The lady at this place is SO rude to her customers!!! It's like she doesn't care if she loses customers. She should just close this place. She has no customer service skills, no personality, no kindness in her. Its only when a white person walks in is when she would greet them nicely, seriously! And she does the crappiest job. The worst place ever my pedicure looks horrible she rushed because someone came in right after me wanting a full someone she knew well. I asked her to re do my feet two nails she said she can't do them sorry just very un professional. She wouldn't even change the color for me also she basically told me to just leave. What a joke. Then when paying she said you should have paid cash because we charge. And it was 21.75 for a pedicure she did in less then 15 min. What a joke I'm furious never recommend this place to anyone. I wish I could give this place zero stars! Literally worst experience ever. My nails could not look worse. Liz did a horrible job. Her idea of coffin nails is so wrong. They were all crooked and badly shaped. She was so rude to the customers walking in and ended up being extremely rude to me because I didn't like my nails. The individuals that work here well atleast one I encountered was very rude I wanted to have my false nails removed and as a W.O.C she told me she had no time but I had a few things to do so I came back another W.O.C walked in she also said she had no time shortly after a Hispanic walked in and she said it would be 1hr the a different Hispanic lady and her daughter are also in the process and she was being extremely rude as hell the reviews said this place is horrible and they are not lying Read Less

Worst eyebrow experience ever. My eyebrows are so uneven and she created a huge unnatural gap between them. I called before coming in to make sure they accepted cards, I was told they did. I come in and I'm not told they charge $2 for using a card UNTIL the second in which she asks for my pin. very bad service, it will take months for my eyebrows to recuperate. Do not go here! First off the male that works in here is so rude. The work is sloppy and his attitude is just awful. He's very rough and does things his own way. I would never recommend this place to anyone. There are far to many other good nail salons in Modesto and this is not one of them. I wanted to tell him to stop just because of his attitude alone. Save your money and your time , go elsewhere. The first time I went here I walked in and asked for a fill and polish change on my feet, Dennis did a great job on my nails, however my toes looked HORRIBLE, almost as if it was intentional. The lady, I'm assuming Liz is her name (one of only two employees) was extremely rude, looking me up and down and acting as if I was inconviencing her....So I had been looking for someone to consistently do my nails and Dennis did a great job so I returned for his service, she offered to do a pedicure and I declined, I payed, tipped went about my day.....two weeks later I called to come see Dennis, she wouldn't let him speak on the phone and told me to come at 12:15, I go in and she told me to come back at 1:15, he was with a customer. I leave to kill some time and I get a phone call from Liz telling me not to come back, I was confused as to why, I asked her if there was a problem and all she kept saying was sorry then hung up on me. She sounded as if she was trying to not be heard which was also strange. I went back right after because she did not give me any reason why she was telling me not to come back and I wanted Dennis to know WHY I hadn't returned. I walked in and she didn't say ANYTHING, she had this crazy glare like she had hate in her eyes. I told Dennis from the front of the shop that she told me not to come back but didn't tell me why and he suggested maybe it was the wrong number. I told him absolutely was not the wrong number, he apologized and I told Liz that it was extremely rude and unproffessional, all the while she's fumbling through her drawers still not saying anything acting as if nothing had happened. A really bad place to get your nails and pedicure i never met people so tude and then they roll your eyes at you. Took my mother in law and they seen her feet they werent so bad but they started talking there language, thats what we pay them for a pedicure not critizes the people that go in there last place ill will go to get my nails and pedi. Horrible! Went here because my original nail stylist is gone till end of June & i feel i was over priced for very very short stiletto nails when they are moon shaped & i asked for long pointy stiletto nails. $38 is waaaay to fricken much & the tip doesnt even cover my nail it doesnt go all the way across, its too short & looks like im missing part of thr nail. My pedicure was great. I think she knew I was upset by then. I had a full set put on first with gel clear coat. She seemed rushed and tired and the acrylic was lumpy. And didn't cover my entire nail. I had to ask her two times to correct the sloppy areas and she had to repaint my nails because the polish was not applied right and was bubbly. Stopped coming here when Liz left. Recently our paths crossed in a save mart parking lot and found out she's back! She is the best. I recommend Liz Nail Shop formerly Ocean Nail. I had a bad experience with the previous owner and stopped going there (previously Ocean Nails) my nails kept lifting after just a couple of day on several occasions. heard it was under new management so my sister and I stopped in as walk ins with no appt . They were very welcoming and inviting as well as friendly and professional. The Positives; they listened to my request and did exactly what I asked for,  Dennis shaped my nails nicely and was quick and did a good job. It was $25 for a schellack fill. Liz did my sisters nails she took a little longer but still did a nice job and her full set with schellack was $40. The negative; they didn't sterilize any tools or instruments between me and the lady before me except to but alcohol on their brushes. Nothing else was washed sterilized or cleaned.  When I asked Dennis about it he started speaking to Liz in a different language maybe Korean, not sure, then from two tables away Liz said everything is sterilized at night which to me should be done between clients and after every use. I will never go back. The guy doing my nails was rude the entire time. I started off by saying I wanted my cuticles pushed back and trimmed before he put my full set on and he simply wouldn't do it. I asked him to make them shorter and he kept saying "later" the whole time he acted as if I was in convenient to him. Rude & unprofessional....I wasn't even able to get a service done! I walked in and was not really greeted just stared at. Apparently i was interrupting this TOTALLY empty salon.  I said I was looking at the prices for shellac. The woman pointed at the sign I was already looking at. No where on the board  did it say the price of shellac so I asked for a menu or brochure. They didn't have any then she told me it would be $20 for shellac. I wanted to take a picture of the  prices so I could show  my sister so we could possibly plan a spa day but I was quickly and rudely shut down. I was in a way scolded and told  I wasn't alowed to photograph  anything almost  being sent away for even attempting such a thing! ... Went in for gels, however had a dark polish on already. The technician that helped me did not entirely remove the old polish. So when I was done I had dark outlines around my new "tickled pink" gels. Needless to say I was not tickled. It seemed she was working me in btwn another client, she worked fast and didn't even trim my cuticles. My fiancé even noticed she painted over them. First off the lady that did my nails did not introduce herself so if I loved her how could I ask for her again? Second they double charged me. Third there was no attention paid to me when I was done, ready to pay and FINALLY leave but I couldn't. What a long visit for a manicure not fake nails either! It's all about NEXT! They don't care about customers at all. Find another place seriously.  The lady ran my card and said it didn't go through so I had to pay cash. Dropped the charge thingy so no friggin receipt. Nice what a ploy! I told her I knew  I had enough money in my account which is totally true. ..more than enough in my checking and savings accounts but they charged my card and took my cash!! Nice location, comfortable inside salon. Decent prices and selection. Some communication issues but that could have been my fault. I'm more lost in a nail salon than at a Starbucks, I just don't know the lingo. Wanted to do gel polish, no more acrylic for me, she was about to glue in the tips and add the shellac over my nails and tip. Had to stop her and she got annoyed with me. She was also mad that I asked her to cut my nails short since the acrylic I had previously tore a couple nails off. I didn't want 7 long nails and 3 stubs. Nails look super cute now. She was speedy but precise. Ended with a short but sweet hand massage that I was not expecting. $25 not bad, I'll definitely come back. Read Less
