So this place showed up on yelp and I thought hey let's give it a try! Came in to get a fill waited an hour (which is understandable since I didn't have an appointment). Let me start by speaking about the location, it's between a bar and a liquor store! So I came in on a Friday night and there was multiple drunk people outside the salon. A couple of them causing a scene on separate occasions. Felt very unsafe! Now, I was very disappointed in the quality of the work. First, the lady who did my nails did not completely remove the old nail polish. You could see purple (old color) underneath the white (new color). So I came home and cleaned some of it up with nail polish remover, myself. Next, there was streaks and lumps of acrylic under the coat of nail polish, super sloppy I could've done a better job, and I have never done nails in my life. In addition, the nail polish was of bad quality. She had a hard time applying it and instead of getting a new one she continued with that bottle and had me sit underneath a fan for over 30 minutes. Finally, I have had 3 nails break in 3 faha. Broke the first nail the next day and I went back to get it fixed they told me the wait time was over an hour! (Only had 2 people working on a Saturday). So I left went to another salon and they fixed it for me (without making me wait, since it was only one nail). Then yesterday I woke up with two other nails broken. I am so disappointed with the outcome of my nails. Everyone there was really nice but I went in on Tuesday 02/20/18 and got my nails done the shape and length was fine but as you can see the French tip didn't go down the nail far enough and you can see through the acrylic and see where my real nail is. The next day Wednesday 2/21 my pinky nail broke and then Friday 2/23 my thumb nail and my middle finger broke off. It saddens me that I have to even leave such a negative review, but this salon has truly changed. We used to go to Davids until we began going to Stevens. We had gone to Stevens for years, until recently. My sister went in to get her nails done when they claimed that she didn't pay the last time she went to the salon with her family. How would it even be possible for a family of four to leave without paying?!?! Nobody would allow someone to leave their business with full service without payment. They were blaming my sister for something she didn't do. Their only consensus was because my sister has two kids. There's more than one mother in Modesto with two kids and a husband. After calling 4 salons on a Tuesday morning we ended up coming here because they were the only place with no wait. Now I know why... The girl who did my nails didn't file, clean, or cut my nails before gluing on the tips. For $40 I would expect for my cuticles to at least be cleaned up! She applied the acrylic so thick it was like bubbles on my finger tips. She spent forever filing it off as well as all of the skin around my finger nails. By the time I left they were all raw and bleeding. They're all different shapes and not even the shape I asked for. My pinky nail is definitely crooked and she didn't do enough layers of shellac so they're translucent. The first night they were already lifting and getting caught in my hair and I have a weird bumpy rash around my nails ever since going there. Probably because she put her used tools in the "sanitized" tool box when she finished with me. Steer clear of the short older lady with tattooed on eyebrows. Horrible experience I went in today my 1st time cause it had 4 stars so I thought it was going to be good Wrong!!! and I rarely get my nails done but when I do I would like to get what I paid for I got an acrylic and a pedi I didn't want to say anything about the mistakes cause of how long I was there already it took forever to get my acrylic done as he was doing my pedi I was battling should I say something cause of my time I had to be somewhere at a certain time I did and he huffed about it but he attempted to fix it, but really didn't do much at all!!! Thank you for listening to my concerns about my nails when I came in the day before and I had a full set put on, I was kind of upset that they don't do the flare nail tips here, so I let the nail technician do what she thought looked best on my nails and I asked for a more squared look, but I was in a hurry do to my Daughter's Graduation was at 5pm and we we're pushing it on our time not any fault of there's but ours... So after a whole night of sleeping on them and looking at them I wasn't happy with the shape of my nails I came in and explain my problem and was immediately fixed!! So for that I am truly grateful for and will continue to come back here, I was referred here by a friend of my mine and her nails always looks so great and last way longer than the excepted time and without any breakage!! I had pedicure appt for 4 today Mother's Day, 10 am ,I will never go to here again . First time here on a Tuesday morning, around 11. Went in and they sat us down immediately, everyone seemed friendly and to know what they were doing. My girl worked extremely fast and gave me what I wanted, for the most part. Let me explain; I told her I wanted a pink ombré. Did she accomplish that? Debatable. I showed her a picture and what she gave me would have been almost exactly like the picture had she enhanced the pink color, my nails look almost just white with a tinge of pink. Very disappointed in this place. Took my sister here, she had gel from a few weeks back and they put her hands in a bowl of straight acetone to soak. She sat there for 15 minutes with it evaporating while someone finished up their previous client. The new girl had her soak her hands some more then used the nail drum to take off some of the polish. It seemed like they didn't know what they were doing, and my gel manicure was completely done before they even finished taking off her polish. I opted for a glittery nail polish and even after 4 coats of polish it doesn't look as good as the sample. Won't be coming back.UPDATE**I wrote this review while waiting for my sister to finish, I had to wait an hour because it took them so long to get all of the polish off. This is about my fifth time coming here and I've mostly had a good experience. I used to go to Nails by David, but I felt so rushed there I had to find a new place and my friend recommended this place. I usually get a French gel ($30) or regular gel manicure ($25). This last time I had Thanh do my nails and I enjoyed my experience with her. She was very quick, but thorough. Usually my manicurists don't get every single edge of my fingernails because sometimes it's hard to get and people don't really see it, but Thanh got every single corner of every nail. My only small complaint is that she could've gotten a little closer to the nail bed. And she gave a short massage at the end of my manicure which is so hard to find at nail salons nowadays. I would definitely pick this place over David's because it isn't as busy and the manicurists don't rush you and do better than a mediocre job. I decided to come here and give it a chance because past reviews were good but the more recent ones weren't. The lady who did my nails didn't even cut them evenly one side is longer then the other and my nails don't look anything like the picture I showed her. The customer service wasn't great and my cuticles didn't even get fully cut , they didn't trim my nails so they're not growing unevenly. I came here on December 8th and wasn't completely satisfied with the over all work on my nails. I love the color and shape but the way the nail technician had done my nails weren't recommendable. My cuticles and my actual nails weren't touched up. I came here again today (December 16th) to get my 1 nail fixed since it broke, and the new technician shaped my nail completely different and when she painted my color, it wasn't the same even when I told her. This place was good. The staff was courteous, not exactly friendly, just not very chitchaty. I got a classic spa pedicure, it included a hot stone massage which is usually an upcharge. I am appalled!! I had my toes done here before Halloween. Super cute HAND PAINTED designs on two toes and the signature pedicure. My total was $35 before tip. I bragged about it to my sister in law and finally brought her in today... we got the on sen pedicures and she wanted A simple (small heart and french) on her toes. They charged $17 for just the design. Which wasnt great to begin with!!!! I have never been so upset, especially them not mentioning the outrageous charge beforehand. I will never go back.
