Teresa's is TERRIBLE. I wish I had checked these reviews prior to going. I just got the worst manicure and pedicure. Very lazy services and sloppy attention to both my feet and hands. The polish is all over my cuticles which weren't even properly pushed back or trimmed. I just got home and am already taking off the polish. A mess.Worst part - it's outrageously expensive. They charge $55 for a mani/pedi. I've lived in Pacific Heights for 17 years and have never paid more than $40! And that was at a nice, clean, spa-like salon.BIG FAIL!!! Read Less

Absolutely worst manicure in my whole life from the owner. I didn't realize just how bad it was until I had left due to the dark color. The nails were covered by the first coat, but the second coat was kind of slapped on somewhere around the middle of the nail not covering it on either side, and it started peeling off after 4-5 days. The worst, most expensive manicure I've ever had!  Such a bad experience.  First, the owner was rough and kept cutting into my skin.  She kept picking at a blister I had on my toe.  When I asked her to stop (because it hurt and also, I didn't want it to get infected), she said okay and then preceded to go back at it, 2 more times!!  Also, she cut my nails so short that I'm worried I'll get an ingrown toe nail.  I wanted to just walk out, but they convinced me to stay and finish. However, they still charged me full price.  I will never go back-unsafe and unsanitary.  I don't think they know what they are doing. More like 2.5, but I rounded up in this case for basic cleanliness and visible hygienic practices. Not what I was expecting for a $30 ($35 with tip) pedicure. What was positive:-Nice atmosphere and pleasant staff-Wasn't intoxicated by fumes upon walking in or walking out-Lots of polish colors to choose from (OPI, GAP, ESSIE...)-Nice selection of trashy magazines to gawk at-Best part: having hot rocks rubbed on the soles of my feetWhat was negative:-$30 was pricey for the inadequate quality-Soaked my feet in a metal bowl instead of a specialty spa chair (even an offer to wait for a specialty chair would have been appreciated)-The clinician unnecessarily filed down my toenails (keep in mind that they were ALREADY short from a recent trim) and didn't bother with my cuticles (which I felt needed some attention...and still do)-All scrubbing, nudging, and trimming (the little that there was) was less than mediocre-The clinician didn't seem very experienced-Cash or check only (YES, inconvenient; I've run into this a lot with nail care salons)Essentially, I left feeling as though I could have done a better job myself. I still don't want to bare my feet (which is generally not the case after a successful pedicure), my cuticles have gone wild, and although the structure of the place is there, the quality parts that keep people coming back are not. i've been going to teresas for close to 20 years. woah. and i'm not that old. it was actually my very first manicure as my mom's final attempt to get me to stop biting my nails - it worked! and i still return as often as i can time my need for a mani with a trip to mill valley.it's a family-run business with the most kind and caring people who really do genuinely care about their customers. it's a very sanitary atmosphere - clean chairs, instruments, etc , and i always see them scrub down the pedi bath after each use. i am very skeptical of those who blame teresa's for nail fungus. i've had only the best treatment and care with every visit over the years.yeah yeah, cash only, get over it. I really like this family-fun business. Their manicures and pedicures are done with care, and they are very kid-friendly. I bring my granddaughters here for a treat and they are treated very well. My manicures last a long time, and that's a good recommendation. I have not had any bad experiences here. There's another unique thing about this place. The owners care about the clients' lives, their health, their social lives, their dogs, and on and on. As a client I see newcomers come to the door, look in, and say, 'Maybe another time." What they see is a small opening, and the first glance puts them off. They need to go in and find all the warmth and good will of the place, not to speak of the excellent services. This is not your average nail place, it's a whole lot more fun. I even got directions from a client (a regular) about a short trip I was planning. It's that kind of place. Read Less

I tried this one out on a lunch break because it is walking distance from my work unlike my other MV favorite nail places but I doubt I'll go back....                                   Positives: proximity to downtown, got a manicure and pedicure in about 50 minutes which is nice considering I'm usually a little late (shh) back to work when I go to the other salons, my toes look good (not excellent but good), they were done quickly but they are the okay part of this review, they have a nice enough shop, and they have a nice selection of nail polishes. Negatives: CASH ONLY? Really? In MV?, my fingernails look like I did them myself and the best part of that is that I had them painted clear, they are cut and filed awfully, actually I think I could have done a better job, and the sign out on Miller says that a mani/pedi cost $30 but when I was finished she asked me for $33, I asked why the sign said $30 and she changed the price but yeah not very cool. I was hoping for a new walking distance nail salon but I'll drive down Miller in the future for quality! Read Less

"LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS" ! ! ! ! I would give this place a minus 5 stars if it was possible. This was the WORST and most painful experience we have ever had getting our nails done.My 22 year old Daughter was visiting, and is our ritual, we went to get pedicures and thought we would also treat ourselves to a full set of acrylics since both of us had short nails and wanted to look a little glamorous. The pedicures were fine (nothing great). But, I ended up leaving before the woman (Teresa) had finished my acrylics...because she was a butcher!!! She used a file that had sharp edges and  kept cutting me with it and would then would pour super glue on it  to stop the bleeding then let the glue dry then file upon it again, drawing more blood. She used a drill type file on the top of my nail beds that would get hot and burn. I told her that she was hurting me...this continued and when I looked I had 5 fingers bleeding on both sides of the nail bed.....the nails were super THICK and fan shaped like a plattapus.I told her that I'd had enough and wanted to leave. She said she was sorry and wanted to fix them...I told her she was crazy if she thought I was going to let her touch me anymore and that I was bleeding and in pain! The manicurist that did my Daughter's nails was Teresa's Daughter Ann. My Daughter had her nails already done by the time they started on me. I was having a pedicure while she was getting her acrylics done. She kept looking at me and mouthing the words "OUCH". She was able to get thru the entire procedure, but she too had a painful experience and had some bleeding and torn cuticles.I left after paying for our pedicures and my Daughter's set of acrylics. But when we got to the car we couldn't believe what we had just been thru. We took pictures of our sore and bloody fingers. For the next 2 days we had swollen and very painful fingers. We took a hot tub that evening and had to keep our hands up and out of the water because  they burned like a mother when we put them in the water. My boyfriend was totally amazed at our condition and kept asking if that was normal and why on earth we would have gone thru that.  I finally soaked mine off this morning because there was no way I could have endured someone filing on them because they are still so sensitive and swollen.. Soaking them in the solution to remove them was also agony as they burned where the swollen cuts are. BUT THEY ARE OFF!!!  Now my nails look absolutely awful..they are thin and have ridges and bumps all over them and my cuticles are all filed off and torn!I called Teresa yesterday to tell her how I felt about our experience. She kept saying "well I didn't charge you for your acrylics!" Like that was supposed to make it better??? I still paid $88.00 for 2 pedicures and my Daughter's acrylics. It will take me months to get my nails looking the way they did befoire Teresa  butchered my cutilcles and ruined my once smooth nails. My Daughter went and had another shop file and smooth out the bumps on hers today. To say something nice, they do keep a very clean shop....and considering that they draw blood, that's a good thing! But I was thinking how they kept using superglue on the cuts and wonder how they sterilize the tip of the superglue, or if they are spreading germs and diseases from the blood left on the super glue bottle and also the drill file.I am going to call the State board and tell them how they are perfoming services. This is an absolute Little shop of horrors. PAINFUL, expensive and I left with the job undone and had to remove the THICK acrylic myself and my hands look awful!!!DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE IT'S A NIGHTMARE!!! CLICK on the above photos to see close up the fancy work they did on me!!! Read Less

Read Less
