This was my second visit.... And ney, I am disappointed. I was a walk in and got right away an appointment for a mani and pedicure. 5stars for that. The lady who did my feet was totally sweet and attentive and made my nails really good. I wished she would have taken more than a minute for the massage like other salons. 4 stars for that. This was the good part. The second lady who took care of my hands was a different cookie. It was a quick job and I was not sure why she could ask so many unnecessary questions which were not her business... In such a short time. Looking later at my nails they were uneven cut and rushed and no attention at all of a massage. I paid as usual before finishing the polish, but my feel was only they were interested in my money and that's it. No greeting or any more attention after that. Literally the same experience I had twice. Ok, well that's it. Mani and pedicure price 45 dollars. You never see me again. Read Less

Worst experience I've had so far, the front desk staff was so nice and helpful but the rest of the experience seemed like a bad joke. First off the nail ladies are rude, do not listen to your requests, such as asking for your nails to dry before applying the next coat. She just grabbed my hand and kept going. All their equipment was old and outdated for both gels and acrylics. Minimal color options for gel. Blatantly talking negativity about you to other coworkers in another language. Just wouldn't recommend to anyone. Read Less

Terrible experience. The ladies were pushy and rude. Did not like that my mother in law had paid earlier over the phone and assumed we weren’t going to tip. Pushed their tip envelopes at my mother and I instead of paying attention to painting our nails. Gave us attitude when we asked for a second coat of polish. I had to go to a different salon and pay for another manicure. Don’t waste your time or money. Read Less

To start, I'd like to give kuddos to the desk staff because they were super friendly. While we weren't treated poorly, we rarely splurge on mani/pedi, and this experience was not worth the money. $150 for two mani/pedi that lasted less than 30 min is absolutely ridiculous. A huge disappointment was that they do not massage your hands and feet as part of the treatment. Another disappointment: no massage chairs, although they do offer to massage you for an additional charge, of course. We have failed to find a solid nail salon in the Tiburon/Mill Valley area and are open to suggestions! Read Less

Total waste of money, first of all after asking the nail technician not to trim my nails short she proceeds to trim them to the skin. Secondly, spent a total of less than 7 minutes on both my hands. Mind you my cuticles were not even touched, she cut my nails short and didn't file them at all... she asked me if I wanted to pay her 15$ for a hand massage. I declined this over priced service and she quickly ushered me to pay her before finishing my manicure. Upon good faith I also included the $10 tip and in disbelief that she was done with out hardly getting started she then quickly polished them and that was that. The pedicure was a little better in the respect that I actually felt like she took care of my toenails at least a little. The entire service with a high pressured need to tip before services rendered and done so upon good faith was $57, a mani-pedi?!!I left with finger nail cuticles still over grown, raggedy at the ends. My toes and nails chipped the very next day!!I will never go back and don't recommend any of you do! Read Less

Geez, seems there are some real divas who don't want the lower class people servicing their nails to be anything but demure, silent, and/or subdued.  It's a mani/pedi... not brain surgery.  Why do we care if these employees chat while we sit there and stare at our smartphones??I give this place 4 stars.  I have been going for years and it is always clean, and the women doing my nails do a nice job every time.  I do agree that, depending on the day, whomever is at the front desk can be a little snooty, but never as rude as some customers I've noted at restaurants, groceries, and retailers around MIll Valley.Also, to be fair, I have never had anything besides a mani, pedi, and French manicure on my real nails.  So I don't know if they handle acrylics properly or not.I would easily recommend this place if you care about cleanliness and competence, but not absolute Day Spa style pampering. Ive been going to this salon over the past 6 years, but its not my regular salon. I dont go often but my mom ans sister always do. First off, its clean. I don't recommend getting your acrylics done here, they are super rough and i had a broken nail needed to be fixed. So they ripped off my acrylic nail which hurt like a bitch. Other than that I recommend it , its a nice place to go to, but slightly pricy. Read Less

I had a gift card from what used to be  Lavande in Lafayette, the shop is rebranded as Marilyn Monroe day spa and I was told they no longer accept Lavande gift cards. I was told I could use my gift card at one of the other Lavande locations.I made a 1:30 appointment at the Mill Valley Location and made the trip over the bridge from Berkeley. When I arrived they told me my appointment was for 1:00 and acted like I was crazy. They said they had a large group come in and couldn't fit me in until 2:20. I wrote the appointment time down when I made it 1:30. After reading through Yelp reviews it looks like this is common experience with others. Read Less

Compared to other nail salons I've been to, this place is nice and has a good atmosphere. The nail technicians always make good conversation and do a good job. The prices can be a bit high though.

The paint was uneven, and the woman didn't speak english enough to even understand the color I was asking. I said silver, and somehow to her that meant white... There is even a hair embedded in the polish that I can't get out... Gross... The whole experience was uncomfortable because I did not want to correct her or feel like a jerk telling her she misunderstood, but the whole time she kept asking questions and it seemed like she had no idea what she was doing. I made an appointment on the telephone for an acrylic fill last Saturday at 2 p.m. I got there and the receptionist who had made my appointment earlier in the day, made a mistake and booked me for a gel manicure.. No apologies were made and nobody else out of the eight people that were working there were available to do my nails for me. And I had an event that I needed to be out by 6 p.m. So I had a plain manicure, which was good, but I had three broken nails that needed repair, and all they could do was put polish on them. It's a really great spa and I've been there before for foot pedicure, but the front desk person with an attitude, was very frustrating. Awful awful awful. I am a licensed cosmetologist who has been trained in hair, skin and nails and am a high end service provider. I came in today to get my acrylic set soaked off, which my good nail salon in Petaluma always does for me. This woman (didn't get her name) insisted to nip off my acrylic set, destroying the nail beds and causing me pain. I told her to soak them off to avoid further pain and damage, to which she replied "we don't do that here, that's impossible." She is either misinformed and uneducated, or careless and lazy. Probably both! Don't trust these amateurs with your nails. Didn't let her finish, didn't even pay. This salon is a joke! There is another nail salon in the shopping center that is better. I had a few manicure/pedicure is here that went fine, but the last one was disastrous.  The manicurist was swiftly clipping along and then dug deep in the one of my fingers, causing bleeding that couldn't be stopped short of a Band-Aid, and an injury that took a week to heal.  They did comp the manicure, at my request, but when I called back to discuss the situation and request manicurist who would be more careful, the woman on the phone was dismissive and completely unconcerned about the previous situation - which doesn't give confidence they take the matter of injuring clients seriously.  Whoa - I'll go elsewhere!  Not high standards at this place. I have been going here forever..so my last mani/pedi which was on a Monday and don't know it was because it was slow but it was one of the worst I have ever had!  I get mani/pedi's to relax and to have me time and not to hear the nail techs talk the whole time!  I guess they were so much in their discussions to even know I was paying for a service and did a horrible job!!  I was so dissapointed in the whole experience and was not at all enjoyable.  If you do go ask for Brandy or Linh..they are always awesome and care! This complaint is about your Mill Valley, CA location, specifically the "manager" NAOMI MURIBUS who sits at your reception desk.  Why Lavande thinks employing this individual to interact with its customers is beyond baffling.  Following my encounter today with Ms. Muribus, please know that I will never again spend money at Lavande.  Please also know that I will go out of my way to suggest that my friends go elsewhere for services provided by your company.  For the sake of your remaining customers, I would hope that you would want to know why you have lost a customer.  I work full-time.  I'm fairly certain many of your customers also work.  People who work make appointments vs. walking into spas, so they can return to work within a reasonable time.  Each and every time I have made an appointment with Lavande, I have ended up having to wait 10-15 minutes, sometimes longer, after I check in for someone to begin my services.  To make matters worse, my appointments don't start late because your employees are attending to other clients.  It's because your employees are gathered together in plain view of customers, socializing and laughing loudly.  After several minutes have passed, I often ask when my appointment will start.  Your manager likes to remark in a snarky and condescending manner that "someone will be with you shortly."  They are never with me shortly.  I've never had an appointment start on time, and I've never had a relaxing service at Lavande, because I spend the entire time worried that I won't be back in time to my office to attend a meeting, etc.  Today, I tried one last time to schedule and enjoy a treatment at Lavande.  As always, after I had checked in, it was as if I had suddenly become invisible to the manager and staff, and that I would be expected to sit in a corner and be grateful that someone would eventually begin my manicure.  Finally, I decided to ask when my scheduled appt. would begin.  Your manager, Naomi Muribus, decided she would deliver me a dirty look and say "you just got here" and then went on to berate me for asking when my appointment would begin.  She added that I should be quiet and that I can't talk to someone that way.  Me, talk to her "that" way?"  I'm the paying customer - is this something you have forgotten to tell your employees?I am a busy, working individual.  I don't have the time to write complaint letters.  But, the ironic and bad treatment I received at your Mill Valley location has completely floored me, and so I made the time to write this. I understand that employees need to each lunch and take breaks.  That is right and just.  What I don't understand is why are these scheduled at the same time appointments are scheduled?  Is there something I'm missing?  As I said at the beginning, Lavande has lost a customer.  I would hope that someone at your organization would actually care. We experienced the same problem with a gift card that another customer shared in a review. My daughter took a gift card in that had not been used. They told her it had $14 on it. I would not have purchased a gift card with an amount less than the cost of a manicure.  It was from Christmas so of course, I didn't have the receipt. Sketch! I will not be purchasing any more gift cards from them. My daughter used it to pay $10 for gel removal....yes, they charge $10 to remove gel polish. This location is clean and comfortable which I like. I also have a scar on my foot, and one other thing I noted was how careful she was to avoid scrubbing it, which I really did appreciate. However, I thought the overall experience was less than ideal. While I was getting my fingers and toes done, everyone I saw who worked here looks dismayed and annoyed. The woman doing my fingers rushed, made me feel bad about the way my fingers looked and didn't fully take off the nail polish I already had on. She took a heated towel out long before planning to use it, so when she did use it, it was more damp than warm. While I was here five workers got into a heated argument, making me uncomfortable. When my fingers were drying I picked up my phone and I was told in a harsh tone not to smudge them. When I left, I asked for a pair of the rubber flip flops so as not to ruin my toes and felt like this request was a huge bother. Read Less

This business is dishonest. Learn from my experience and take your money elsewhere.  Bought a $41 mani-pedi certificate as a gift for a friend. When she came in to use it, she was told it was for a manicure only. As I was about to throw the receipt out I asked how she liked her mani-pedi and she told me what happend, so it's random that I even found this out.When I called Lavande, a nice woman said she'd have the manager call me back. Natasha called very quickly, which I appreciated. My request was that they honor the mani-pedi, since that was the gift I bought and not honoring it by providing the service that was pre-paid was their error. She wouldn't commit to anything until she could "document" the appointment that my friend made - as though they offer a $41 manicure. When I asked her to tell me how they would handle the situation, assuming of course that she could verify everything I was telling her, she talked over me and told me I was being insulting.So I paid them for something they didn't deliver and when I called and asked them to make good on it they said, basically, "we're not sure"? Not a very customer-focused business. I won't be back.UPDATE as of 7/9: I have called the salon 4 times, and my daughter has called once, to ask them to provide the mani-pedi that I originally purchased. On each time, they have refused. On my last call I was told by the manager, Naomi: "Maybe you should come in with your daughter so she can learn to ask for what she wants."She did and was told by Lavande that the $41 gift certificate was only good for a manicure. If I hadn't called, they would have kept the $27 difference. The owner is rarely in and the 2 managers I spoke to clearly don't give a darned about customer service or business ethics. I don't even want to spend the credit there - will just get the balance refunded. Just go to K&K in Tam Junction. Kitty and her partner are so awesome and do much for their community.Admittedly there are more important things to worry about than nails. I got my nails done and my eyebrows waxed here. When I got my eyebrows done, I asked for a natural look, and for her to just clean them up. What I got was thin eyebrows that were at least a centimeter if not more thinner than I asked for. It may not seem like much but it sure is. I am not sure if she didn't understand what I was asking or if she messed up. But while getting my nails done I was upset and they all knew it. I do not recommend getting your eyebrows waxed here unless you want a completely different look, width, and shape. I am infuriated with the results and I am never planning on coming back to Lavande again. Read Less

My friend treated me to a mani/pedi here today and the experience was not all that good.First of all the women working on the nails talk all the time amongst them, not in a soft quiet voice, but in a very loud voice and across several seats. I personally like to relax when i get a mani/ pedi and have a conversation with my friends.  The women were rude, they don't speak to you instead they tap (non gently) on your leg or arm and point to the water when they want you to put your foot and hand in/ out of the water. That's just not right!The mani pedi are done so quickly and therefore it doesn't turn out all that nicely. It is not a race, they should take their time and do a nice job. My feet got barely rubbed or massaged.The woman that did my hands was the rudest, she did my hands super quickly and i noticed that only the cuticle on the sides was cut and i asked if she could do the bottom since i had some skin. She grabbed the cuticle pusher tool and she literally scraped  my nails super hard to the point that it hurt. First nail, i let it go, 2nd nail i let it go, by the 3rd nail i asked her to stop since it was hurting and she started to laugh and kept talking in Vietnamese with the lady doing my feet... I couldn't believe how rude this woman was. I can see an indent on the nails from when she scraped my nails.There are so many places in Marin and the city to go get my nails done that I know for sure that i won't be back! Hopefully the owner takes feedback seriously and starts providing clients with better service and has a staff that is actually kind and respectful of clients and understand  that they are in their workplace and shouldn't be having loud conversations with the rest of the staff. First off the nail ladies are rude, do not listen to your requests, such as asking for your nails to dry before applying the next coat. She just grabbed my hand and kept going. All their equipment was old and outdated for both gels and acrylics. Minimal color options for gel. Blatantly talking negativity about you to other coworkers in another language. While we weren't treated poorly, we rarely splurge on mani/pedi, and this experience was not worth the money. $150 for two mani/pedi that lasted less than 30 min is absolutely ridiculous. A huge disappointment was that they do not massage your hands and feet as part of the treatment. Another disappointment: no massage chairs, although they do offer to massage you for an additional charge, of course. We have failed to find a solid nail salon in the Tiburon/Mill Valley area and are open to suggestions! Read Less

Mind you my cuticles were not even touched, she cut my nails short and didn't file them at all... she asked me if I wanted to pay her 15$ for a hand massage. I declined this over priced service and she quickly ushered me to pay her before finishing my manicure. Upon good faith I also included the $10 tip and in disbelief that she was done with out hardly getting started she then quickly polished them and that was that. The pedicure was a little better in the respect that I actually felt like she took care of my toenails at least a little. The entire service with a high pressured need to tip before services rendered and done so upon good faith was $57, a mani-pedi?!!I left with finger nail cuticles still over grown, raggedy at the ends. Geez, seems there are some real divas who don't want the lower class people servicing their nails to be anything but demure, silent, and/or subdued.  It's a mani/pedi... not brain surgery.  Why do we care if these employees chat while we sit there and stare at our smartphones??I give this place 4 stars.  I have been going for years and it is always clean, and the women doing my nails do a nice job every time.  I do agree that, depending on the day, whomever is at the front desk can be a little snooty, but never as rude as some customers I've noted at restaurants, groceries, and retailers around MIll Valley.Also, to be fair, I have never had anything besides a mani, pedi, and French manicure on my real nails.  So I don't know if they handle acrylics properly or not.I would easily recommend this place if you care about cleanliness and competence, but not absolute Day Spa style pampering. I was told I could use my gift card at one of the other Lavande locations.I made a 1:30 appointment at the Mill Valley Location and made the trip over the bridge from Berkeley. When I arrived they told me my appointment was for 1:00 and acted like I was crazy. They said they had a large group come in and couldn't fit me in until 2:20. No apologies were made and nobody else out of the eight people that were working there were available to do my nails for me. And I had an event that I needed to be out by 6 p.m. So I had a plain manicure, which was good, but I had three broken nails that needed repair, and all they could do was put polish on them. I came in today to get my acrylic set soaked off, which my good nail salon in Petaluma always does for me. This woman (didn't get her name) insisted to nip off my acrylic set, destroying the nail beds and causing me pain. I told her to soak them off to avoid further pain and damage, to which she replied "we don't do that here, that's impossible." She is either misinformed and uneducated, or careless and lazy. Probably both! Don't trust these amateurs with your nails. Didn't let her finish, didn't even pay. This salon is a joke! There is another nail salon in the shopping center that is better. This complaint is about your Mill Valley, CA location, specifically the "manager" NAOMI MURIBUS who sits at your reception desk.  Why Lavande thinks employing this individual to interact with its customers is beyond baffling.  Following my encounter today with Ms. Muribus, please know that I will never again spend money at Lavande.  Please also know that I will go out of my way to suggest that my friends go elsewhere for services provided by your company.  For the sake of your remaining customers, I would hope that you would want to know why you have lost a customer.  I work full-time.  I'm fairly certain many of your customers also work.  People who work make appointments vs. walking into spas, so they can return to work within a reasonable time.  Each and every time I have made an appointment with Lavande, I have ended up having to wait 10-15 minutes, sometimes longer, after I check in for someone to begin my services.  To make matters worse, my appointments don't start late because your employees are attending to other clients.  It's because your employees are gathered together in plain view of customers, socializing and laughing loudly.  After several minutes have passed, I often ask when my appointment will start.  Your manager likes to remark in a snarky and condescending manner that "someone will be with you shortly."  They are never with me shortly.  I've never had an appointment start on time, and I've never had a relaxing service at Lavande, because I spend the entire time worried that I won't be back in time to my office to attend a meeting, etc.  Today, I tried one last time to schedule and enjoy a treatment at Lavande.  As always, after I had checked in, it was as if I had suddenly become invisible to the manager and staff, and that I would be expected to sit in a corner and be grateful that someone would eventually begin my manicure.  Finally, I decided to ask when my scheduled appt. would begin.  Your manager, Naomi Muribus, decided she would deliver me a dirty look and say "you just got here" and then went on to berate me for asking when my appointment would begin.  She added that I should be quiet and that I can't talk to someone that way.  Me, talk to her "that" way?"  I'm the paying customer - is this something you have forgotten to tell your employees?I am a busy, working individual.  I don't have the time to write complaint letters.  But, the ironic and bad treatment I received at your Mill Valley location has completely floored me, and so I made the time to write this. I understand that employees need to each lunch and take breaks.  That is right and just.  What I don't understand is why are these scheduled at the same time appointments are scheduled?  Is there something I'm missing?  As I said at the beginning, Lavande has lost a customer.  I would hope that someone at your organization would actually care. However, I thought the overall experience was less than ideal. While I was getting my fingers and toes done, everyone I saw who worked here looks dismayed and annoyed. The woman doing my fingers rushed, made me feel bad about the way my fingers looked and didn't fully take off the nail polish I already had on. She took a heated towel out long before planning to use it, so when she did use it, it was more damp than warm. While I was here five workers got into a heated argument, making me uncomfortable. When my fingers were drying I picked up my phone and I was told in a harsh tone not to smudge them. When she came in to use it, she was told it was for a manicure only. As I was about to throw the receipt out I asked how she liked her mani-pedi and she told me what happend, so it's random that I even found this out.When I called Lavande, a nice woman said she'd have the manager call me back. Natasha called very quickly, which I appreciated. My request was that they honor the mani-pedi, since that was the gift I bought and not honoring it by providing the service that was pre-paid was their error. She wouldn't commit to anything until she could "document" the appointment that my friend made - as though they offer a $41 manicure. When I asked her to tell me how they would handle the situation, assuming of course that she could verify everything I was telling her, she talked over me and told me I was being insulting.So I paid them for something they didn't deliver and when I called and asked them to make good on it they said, basically, "we're not sure"? Not a very customer-focused business. I won't be back.UPDATE as of 7/9: I have called the salon 4 times, and my daughter has called once, to ask them to provide the mani-pedi that I originally purchased. On each time, they have refused. On my last call I was told by the manager, Naomi: "Maybe you should come in with your daughter so she can learn to ask for what she wants."She did and was told by Lavande that the $41 gift certificate was only good for a manicure. If I hadn't called, they would have kept the $27 difference. The owner is rarely in and the 2 managers I spoke to clearly don't give a darned about customer service or business ethics. I don't even want to spend the credit there - will just get the balance refunded. Just go to K&K in Tam Junction. What I got was thin eyebrows that were at least a centimeter if not more thinner than I asked for. It may not seem like much but it sure is. I am not sure if she didn't understand what I was asking or if she messed up. But while getting my nails done I was upset and they all knew it. I do not recommend getting your eyebrows waxed here unless you want a completely different look, width, and shape. My friend treated me to a mani/pedi here today and the experience was not all that good.First of all the women working on the nails talk all the time amongst them, not in a soft quiet voice, but in a very loud voice and across several seats. I personally like to relax when i get a mani/ pedi and have a conversation with my friends.  The women were rude, they don't speak to you instead they tap (non gently) on your leg or arm and point to the water when they want you to put your foot and hand in/ out of the water. That's just not right!The mani pedi are done so quickly and therefore it doesn't turn out all that nicely. It is not a race, they should take their time and do a nice job. My feet got barely rubbed or massaged.The woman that did my hands was the rudest, she did my hands super quickly and i noticed that only the cuticle on the sides was cut and i asked if she could do the bottom since i had some skin. She grabbed the cuticle pusher tool and she literally scraped  my nails super hard to the point that it hurt. First nail, i let it go, 2nd nail i let it go, by the 3rd nail i asked her to stop since it was hurting and she started to laugh and kept talking in Vietnamese with the lady doing my feet... I couldn't believe how rude this woman was. I can see an indent on the nails from when she scraped my nails.There are so many places in Marin and the city to go get my nails done that I know for sure that i won't be back!
