Betty's is the place where natives in Mill Valley go for great nails. It's like a Norm-from-Cheers scene. Not fancy. Not flashy. Just a block down from 7/11. I've heard new clients say they're late because they drove past. After trying all nail salons in town, this has been my favorite for nearly 5 years. Unpleasantly surprised by today's service. My mom and I went in for a manicure, Betty was waiting for mom and she was seated and started immediately.Another mother and daughter couple were getting pedicures. After sitting, waiting about 20 minutes, another mother/daughter came in for pedicures. We sat and all gabbed for about 10 more minutes until the other women were finished with their pedicures. After the manicurists were finished they got up and grabbed the two women that came in 20 minutes after me and began to give them their pedicures.Long story short, and after waiting an hour, my mom was finished getting a set of acrylics and they still kept telling me five minutes. A few years ago, I found Betty's Beauty Boutique off of Yelp and decided to give it a try as it was one of the best in the area. I recently moved from Novato and had a great shop that I religiously went to but the drive was too far to continue so it was time to try out new places. I was a little disappointed that there was not a massage chair and the "tub" for pedicures was basically a bucket of hot water that was brought it from another room. But that is just semantics. The place is clean. The women are friendly, albeit they do use their native tongue, but why struggle with English when speaking amongst themselves? I've found everyone to be warm, friendly and inviting. Betty herself is amazing. She will come out and talk to you while you have your mani-pedi and suggest new techniques or products. Very knowledgeable and friendly, she has remained my go-to for nails for nearly three years. The massages are wonderful and only wish they lasted a little longer. As far as price, well they seem to be the standard prices, depending on what you have done. Came here because it was open.  Needed an emergency pedicure.  It got the job done, but didn't really blow me away one way or the other.  The paint job was not the most perfect that I have ever had (see pics) and it chipped pretty fast.  I liked the massage a lot though.  There was a nice selection of colors and the place was very clean. I did add pictures for you lovely Yelpers who might find it hard to find this place.  It is very inconspicuous.  If you are a regular here you might find that the experience improves. I had a *great* experience at Betty's yesterday.  Christine and Na were super sweet, gave me terrific massages, and really did a great job cleaning up my cuticles, etc.  They also brought magazines over to my chair and got me a bottle of water when I had a coughing fit. 2 stars for the mani/5 for the pedi; rounded up.As others have noted, this is a clean place with nice workers. Great lower leg massage. I enjoyed both the mani and the pedi, but my clear mani started peeling the next day...others have noted that they had better luck, so maybe they used a base/top coat combo that didn't work.In any case, I would say this was about the same as Fingers and Toes for me. Today was my first time to BBB, and my going there was based solely on the reviews it got here. Unfortunately I do not know the name of the girl who gave me my pedicure today, but it was unbelievably below par. When I called I specified that my main concern was for someone to totally concentrate on the callus parts of my heels and such. My feet are not yucky by any means but I do have very dry skin, especially in the summer wearing sandals or going barefoot every day. Not only did the girl do an amazingly poor job on my heel calluses, but when I asked her to work on them more, she gave me some lame excuse to the effect that that's just all they do for them there. I was NOT happy about that especially since I made sure to make a specific request when I made the appointment! Right before she put the polish on, I checked out the rest of the job she did. There was that hard-ish skin crap STILL stuck between my big toe nail and the skin, you know the kind? Well, that is ALSO inexcusable!!!OK, to add insult to injury, I saw the woman next to me hand her girl the money directly and noticed there was no visible cashier or such and assumed that's how they do it there, pay directly. So before I headed to the door, I left my fee on my girl's table since I was done and she walked into the back room. One of the other girls then swung her chair around, glaring at me saying, "Excuse me!!!" LIKE I WAS TRYING TO WALK OUT WITHOUT PAYING FOR THE WORST PEDICURE I HAVE EVER HAD??? I was mortified!!! VERY nervy!!! I pointed to the table with the money on it. "Oh" is all she said. I even left a tip, CAN YOU BELIEVE??? I can't. Even the polish job was just average. We'll see how well it lasts-- not optimistic. I am NEVER EVER GOING BACK TO BBB! The whole experience surprisingly got me in a terrible mood for the rest of the day.I have been kind of shopping around for the best place for me to get a pedicure in MV for a while now. When I went to K&K Nails and Kitty did my pedicure, she got out the razor, the dremel, and worked all the dry/dead skin off my feet for like 45 minutes alone!!! Betty's is a hidden gem on Miller Street in Mill Valley.  I had NO idea it was even there til I saw all of the amazing Yelp reviews and now I am a convert.  The salon is incredibly clean- no frills but very comfortable.  What really stood out besides the awesome mani-pedi was how sweet and friendly everyone is who works there.  All of the women were so kind and truly made me feel wanted and welcome.  I highly, highly recommend Betty's and can't believe it took me so long to find out about it! Hands down, the best manicure + pedicure I have ever received!  I had a wedding to go to so I made an appointment.  The following week, I had 4 days of sailboat racing (which usually ruins my manicures and usually results in at least one broken nail) but this manicure survived intact, and I think it helped stop nail breakage!! A first!  I'm now heading into the 4th week since the pedicure and i've had no problems (which again, is stunning given I take pointe class twice a week).  The actual manicure and pedicure was also very thorough -- they took their time and looked over their work, touching up as needed.  I'm also a fan of the fact that they open sterilized bags of tools with each customer.I've found my nail salon! I've been hopping around Marin trying to find a decent, clean pedicure place.  Nothing crazy.  No chocolate martini pedicures - just a good, reliable salon.I have found such place.I've been there 4 times and they have been top-notch each time!Here is the low down:Place is clean, cute and well-run.My pedicures last 3-4 weeks.Betty and her staff are very friendly!Parking is relatively easy to find.Prices are fair.Color selection is good.Bottled water available if you'd like.Great magazines to peruse.Cash is best, but she does except check and credit.Please visit Betty's.  It is businesses like hers that should stay in business and definitely deserves yours. Betty's is amazing! Love the work she does....my mani and pedi last so long! She makes a point to keep everything VERY sanitary and pleasant.....no incense burning with fruits in a corner and nail clippings on the floor.....even the shop's lighting is pleasant and peaceful, makes you just want to relax and stare outside the windows while she pampers you!$40 mani/pedi is not bad considering the excellent quality of work...YES, there's a place right by my house in San Rafael that charges $28 for a mani/pedi - but they are GROSS! So really....it's worth a few extra $$$....c'mon now...have you ever seen a toe nail infection?!!! ewww! not worth IT!Oh, an parking is a breeze and she's open til 7ish I think! My first time here.  Came with two girlfriends for birthday mani/pedis.  When my friend called to schedule an appointment, she was told they aren't open on Sunday but how many people did we have?  We told them the three of us for mani/pedis and they said they'd come in for us.  That was great!  The place is small, which I like, and clean.  Both of the women that worked on us were extremely nice and the mani/pedis were great.  Slight downside was that my friend also got her brows waxed and they took a bit too much off on one side.  But for the mani/pedis, the whole experience was great!
