I'm from the Bay Area and this is the first nail salon I tried here in Merced. I'm usually very picky with how I want my nails done and I've heard mixed reviews about this place but I definitely say that this is my go-to nail place in Merced!I made an appointment for a basic pedicure and a full set. I had my pedicure done by Kim, who was so sweet and did a great job! I had my full set done by Tim and he did an amazing job, especially since I chose to do such a bold color for once. Second time here. The first time was a bad experience. Felt rushed and staff was really rude.. but decided to give second chance. Well, should of learned my lesson the first time. Staff is still super rude, even when it's slow! I ordered the $35 pedi, and the lady put the sea salt scrub on my legs.. WELL THE SEA SALT SCRUB WAS KEPT IN A MENTOS GUM CONTAINER!!!! Uhhh what the hell! Pretty sure that can't be sanitary!! Definitely don't recommend this place for anybody. There's other places cheaper that do a better job, and treat you way better!! I give 0 stars to the facility and staff itself, but 10 stars to only one person there. Honestly, if you want your nails done perfect without any pain and want to be listened to, you need "Vy". She is the only one there that does a good job. I got one guy before and he made me bleed, had acrylic all over my skin, kept pulling my hands way over the table almost into his lap to where I was leaning so far over my back was hurting. Vy is so gentle and caring. Makes sure everything is even, no acrylic or gel on your skin. She does exactly want you want. And doesn't have a problem if you ask her to fix something. This place is a hit or miss, depending who does your pedicure or manicure. Sometimes they'll do a great job and sometimes I'll leave and end up with chipped nail color a couple of days later. But I will say do not get your nails done by a man who is there. He's very rough and pops your toes and does this snapping thing on your fingers and it hurts!!! So, i had went in about 2 weeks ago for a full acrylic set and a pedicure. the woman who did my toes was WONDERFUL. i didnt get her name, but she was great. she was singing to my daughter to calm her down ( shes 1 year old, she was cranky), she was making conversation with me, just all around being very friendly. when my toes were done, i went to the other part of the room to wait to get my nails done. my daughter was walking over to me from her grandmother and she fell and hit her head on the table by the door. the man who works the front desk walks over to me and tells me, doesn't ask me, TELLS ME to take my daughter outside because she was crying. sir, my child is not a dog. i will not "take her outside" because she hurt herself. well then i go to get my nails done. the man did well on my nails but he was very rude. acted like i was an inconvenience to him. 2 of my nails broke off within the first 7 days. i thought maybe they were having a bad day. they were very crowded, i tried giving them the benefit of the doubt. NOPE. they are all around awful. i got my nails filled in today and the two replaced by the other man who works there. they looked nice but i am now home, 3 1/2 hours later, and my paint is coming off. i will not be returning to this salon. I prefer coming to Rose Nails 2 instead of the original Rose Nails because the shop is bigger and they have a better selection of gel polishes. I came in with no appointment in the morning and was seated at a station right away. The guy who did my nails was very patient with my indecisive self as I contemplated between chrome colors. I ended up choosing a silver chrome color and he proceeded to give me a gel fill. Right before he put on the polish, I changed my mind about the chrome and decided to get holographic nails instead since I'm going to a festival this weekend (Yay!). There were some technical difficulties with my left hand because the holo glitter wouldn't apply properly and the nail tech ended up having to redo my left hand FOUR times. I stayed at the salon for 2 hours but I really appreciate how much time he spent on my nails to make them perfect instead of giving up. There's usually a $10 charge to do glitter/chrome nails but he waived the cost and only charged me the regular price of $25 because it took so long. I didn't get his name but I definitely recommend coming to Rose Nails because their nail techs really care about customer satisfaction! First time here and it was horrible, don't come on Sundays it's way too busy and the wait is too long. I got a man and wanted a gel pedicure. This place is a joke. The workers are rude and unprofessional. Every single time I've had an appointment, when I arrive I have to wait at least 15 or 20 minutes beyond my appointment time before I am seated.  The past two times I've had my nails done, I have walked out with cuts on several of my fingers/cuticles. Worst experience ever!! The girl I got (I believe she was the manager) was the only one that answered the phone, she kept leaving me to book appts or help people that walked in, she came back and jammed her cuticle tool right into my toe I think she was in a hurry and didn't even apologize. She burned me with the hot rocks on my leg and didn't even apologize for that and told me I was very sensitive. Worst customer service ever. She did not give me my ticket at the chair either. I've been coming here for pedicures for the longest. I've experience mild bad customer service here before but my toes always come out looking amazing, so I didn't really complain much. But yesterday, I went in for some pedicures with a few of my friends and I spoke so highly of the workers there because it was their first time there and getting a pedicure.... little did I know, I spoke way too soon!! The man that did my toes, I believe his name was "Liam" he had a mole on his face was completely unprofessional. I've had him do my toes before and he was great but yesterday I was so speechless and angry. Not only was my toes horrible, he was so rude to me when I told him about it. I had gotten the french tip style on my toes and the line was all over the place, not on one toe but multiple and when I had told him about it he responded with "what?!!" Like excuse me? I'm paying for your service and this is how you talk to me? I wasn't rude nor was it my fault that my toes were jacked up!! When I told him about my toes all the other lady workers just kind of came over and peaked at it and they said something in their language which I'm almost positive they said something about me. At that point I just kind of gave up trying to tell him because I couldn't keep my calm anymore. I was so frustrated because I was so excited to get my toes done and this place usually doesn't disappoint. Overall, I would say this place really is a hit and miss. But as for myself, I don't know if I would continue going back there and it's a shame because I honestly did really like that place. But with the way they treated me, I don't know if I'll ever be able to go in there with the same happy attitude again.Ps. I won't be going back!  I started going there because a gal I patronized at another salon started working there.  When she isn't there I do a walk in.  Today I got a deluxe pedi and I've had this girl before who seems to cut corners and is racing to get done.  She said something in Vietnamese to the other two employees lounging around on the massage chairs apparently on break.  They both looked at me and I asked what was wrong.  Made me feel like Elaine on Seinfeld.  It always feels like they are rushing you in and out even when there are 6-8 of the employees hanging around sitting in the massage chairs.   I guess they are trained that way.  She put my flip flops on immediately after painting them and messed up my big toe nail lacquer but didn't fix it.  No hot rocks were used either during the massage.   I sat there a while and letting my toes dry when the employee next to me said "you dry, you can go now!".  Insulting!  NEVER GOING BACK! I came here in September (2016) and my experience wasn't pleasing. Some guy did my acrylics with red gel but left residue on my cuticle and acrylics under my nail. And the coffin shape was crooked. This was a 1/5 experience for me. I went again on 4/4/17 to give the place a 2nd shot and I was very pleased with the service provided by Vy. She did a powder only acrylics on me and did an amazing job! Vy placed the acrylic color I wanted as the first layer and then she coated it with a 2nd layer of clear acrylic. She charged me $35 for the set illustrated in the pictures. I definitely recommend booking an appointment with Vy! This was a 5/5 experience for me.Read Less

I wish I could give at least 4 stars, because my pedicure was great! The girl that did it was nice and she did a good job. However, my complaint is with the management/business perspective. They do not allow you to use your credit card unless you spend $30, so that basically forces you to get the deluxe pedicure if you have no cash (which most people don't these days). I didn't agree with that at all and I feel it's ridiculous. Then, at the end of my pedicure they ask me if I want to BUY flip flops to wear out since I wore my sneakers in. Really?? What happened to the free foam ones? Obviously I had to spend the extra because I didn't want to ruin my polish! horrible ... came here the first time a lady did great on my pedicure .. came back a week later and got a half ass job on my pedicure . took about 25 mins and super rushed job. the paint was messy and unprofessional . came back a third time, and the lady I got had a really bad attitude and super rushed job AGAIN ! the painting was even UGLIER than the second time . I've been here a few times for gel manicures. Every time I leave, I find something wrong. In the past, my manicures would always have at least one or two air bubbles. I usually just brush it off and get over it. No ones perfect. However, my last visit there (5/6/16) was the last straw. Not only did 6 out of 10 nails have air bubbles, but the overall manicure was horrible. The shaping was inconsistent (I asked for square) with a variety of square, oval, and rounded square shapes. The guy painted ON my cuticles, so by the next day, the polish lifted, obviously since it's not meant to set into skin. He also didn't top off the coats at the end of the nail so one of my nails has already chipped. I haven't done any strenuous or out of the ordinary work with my hands so I know it wasn't because I was being reckless. Almost all my nails will probably have the polish chipping and lifting from the BACK (as in where the cuticle is) by the end of this week. I would be more understanding if this was just a standard manicure but the fact that it's gel and it's supposed to last long if done well has made me realize that this was just a terrible manicure all together. After sitting at the manicurist station for about 10min waiting for a technician, a guy finally comes up and sits down, gets the tools ready and just looks at me like okay I'm ready. Pedicure lasted all but 15 mins. Toenail was in the foot spa yuck! She did a good job cleaning around my toe nails, but it hurt so bad I had to tell her to stop..smh. And I'm not the complaining type or too picky. But geesh..then when I got outside I noticed my feet were hella ashy!! I'm caramel brown so yea, my feet was white! I had to lotion them up in the car. March 2, 16 Atmosphere was nice but young worker with red hair didn't once acknowledge me or the other costumer. She never once smiled or greeted us in a nice way. I had to ask about products. I'm writing this review as I'm sitting in my chair because my apt was at 130 I sat down about 1:35 and it is now 1:50 I'm finished she will just put the polish on! Yup my pedicure was only 15 min long.. My message was about 1 min on each foot! She didn't even bother lighting up my foot to rub the bottom of it! While I really like their work the attitude of the people running the place leaves a lot to be desired.  This is my third time coming here and every time they make me feel like they are doing me a favor.My first visit I was a walk in and they seemed almost offended. Waited an hour and a half for a fill and was told the whole time that it would be 15 more minutes. I went with a friend and she was done with her gel mani pedi before I was even sitting on my chair. When it was finally my turn the guy was actually really good...expect for the fact that I asked for French Tip polish and the guy seemed annoyed at me and then flat out refused to do it :( It wouldn't hurt them to be nicer as well! Horrible service. They make you feel so uncomfortable. I wouldn't even give this place 1 star. Went for a basic gel polish & they charged me $50 instead of $30 bc they "put lotion on my hands" It's so rude how they speak in their language to each other when you are sitting right in front of them. Don't they want to make a connection with their clients?! Try to at least be nice & speak in English so we don't think you're talking about us to our face. About my gel polish- the coats weren't even so you could see patches of my nails. Also some of my nails are more dull than the rest. I think they didn't apply enough of the product on before wiping it off in the last step. In my option, I'd rather go to The Pedi Bar where the staff is nice & welcoming. Read Less
