When I had a full set put on one of the nail tips was too small for my ring finger and it looked funny for the almost 2 weeks I had them on..just looked like a lousy job that I didn't realize till after I had paid and left. I went in for a fill today and to hopefully get the nail corrected I was told I would have to pay extra to have a new nail put on (even though the man acknowledged it was indeed the wrong size nail tip). I said I wasn't going to pay for the correction and the guy ended up using more acrylic to widen the area where the top should have been. Now my nail looks bulky compared to the rest. I've been in here a few times since moving to Merced 2 years ago and every time I've been in there the atmosphere is not welcoming. I came in 20 mins after they opened. I wanted to get my waxing done and the receptionist told me to sit and wait which was not a problem. However after 20 mins of waiting and no update, the receptionist finally decides to come and let me know that the lady who normally does waxing was not here and was not sure when she would arrive. I've gone here twice, and both experiences were alright. The first time was when I was came with my boyfriend to get pedicures. We were sat down in 5 mins, without an appointment. The pedicure was very nice and clean. I was getting French tip gel, and the lady was doing fine. Until she got to my big toe, I asked her for fix it because there was uneven coat. So the lady put more coats on top of it... and said "oh this is okay." Which led to my big toe being bumpy.... Other than that, the staff was nice and my boyfriend and I enjoyed our pedicures. My boyfriend paid $55 for both pedicures. The second time I came was with my friends to get our nails done for one of our friend's 18th birthday party. It's a big thing in the Filipino culture, and the girls that are in the dance crew decided to get our nails done last minute. Anyway, my friend called and made an appointment at 12, asking if the staff could see all 6 girls at the same time. The person on the phone said yes... so we all showed up before 12 and the place was PACKED. The staff kept saying "5 more minutes." We all waited an hour before most of us got a nail station. One of the girls even left to go home and decided to get her nails done later. I understand you guys are busy, but really? We made an appointment. Well, I got Johnny and he did my acrylics super quick, probably the fastest I have ever gotten them done. It was going fine until the very end when I was about to put my nails into the gel machine, I saw a hole in my right index finger. I told him, and he was very nice and came to fix it. After my nails were done, I noticed my ring finger was a little bumpy on the side. I was honestly fed up with this place already, and just wanted to leave! I paid $40 for my acrylic, which is expensive to me. I just got nude color, and the fact that my friends and I all waited an hour to get a station. I think the staff should have offered a discount. I have been using Nail Time for while now and really am looking for another salon too. I was uncomfortable having to repair one nail I cracked and polish change after one week and paid almost as much as a fill when I scheduled a repair and polish change .. The week later was only $5.00 shy of the charge for a fill which I did not get. They do not respect appointment times as I always schedule and then had to wait at least 40min beyond. They are pressured because they over schedule. Nope no more for me .. I wish to find a nice place that services their clients in English has fair pay and is true to their appointments. Read Less

I highly recommend Mimosa, Julia and Elena, if they are available. They do an excellent job and are very professional. I simply gets a men's manicure, so my needs aren't complicated, but it surprising how many manicurists don't really get the basic stuff. I have been able to see others work there and am fascinated to watch Johnny do intricate designs on women's nails - great detail work. They take walk ins, but sometimes there is a considerable wait. I know it is hard to schedule when appointments are not required, but sometimes they clearly don't have enough employees there to take care of business in a timely manner. And other times they have several people sitting around with nothing to do. But it seems that is the nature of the beast in the nail business! Read Less

This is hands down my favorite/regular spot. I've been to a lot of nail spots in Merced & the Bay Area (I'm always in both places) but this for sure is my go to spot. They do such an amazing job. I do a lot of manual labor and due to that, my hands and nails get real messed up. So to prevent my hands looking like ET I get them fixed. Now I understand what you're thinking, a grown man getting his nails done? Let me tell you, my hands get messed up. A girl once told me she'd rather let Edward Scissorhands finger bang her before she'd let me with the nails I had. Hands so dry, when I rub them together, people ask why I'm tryna start a fire. Oh I was distraught, so I came to this place and saw Son, a slightly older gentleman. I thought it would be weird having another man do my nails, but I was wrong. He made me feel right at home, worked his little magic and ouuuweee! My nails came out looking so good, I was pointing at things all day! I'm over here pointing at things that don't need to get pointed at just to show off how nice they look. I'm over here pointing like "Hey there goes a McDonalds! Hey, there goes another one!" I'm shaking hands all day! I'm about to take a sign language class, cause I'm talking with nothing but hands from now on. Got me directing traffic out here just to show em off. Then on top of that my manicure comes with a massage too. Again, this man worked his magic. I swear he got the Midas touch. I had this pain near my left scapula, and after going to 4 happy ending spots, I saw no results! Had my man Son do his thing...GONE. Whatever he touches it just fixes. I went to "Nail Time", because it was close to home. Don't go to a nail salon based on location. I went in for a new set a couple days ago. At first, they were really good did everything I asked. I was the only customer in the salon when I first got there, so I was seated and worked on right away. The lady did all my requests... THIN acrylic, and rounded tips, just how I like it. Here is the part where the service has failed. . . . As soon as a couple more people walked in, I could see the stress in her eyes, and that's where she was losing her professionalism. She got really sloppy with my polish. I had gel done. It was a light color, so I asked for three coats. She said two was good. So now its thin in some spots and thick in others. Its very sloppy around my cuticles. Here's the worst part... The top coat brush had loose bristles, and some of them got stuck in my nails. So now at least HALF of my nails are flawed.Are there any nail salons out here that actually care more about their clients, than the money? Read Less

This was the place I came to to get my nails done but not anymore.  I got a regular manicure and it's the worst I've ever had.  Bubbles, uneven coats, polish on my skin, etc. I bumped 2 of my nails which is my fault but that doesn't excuse what's going on with my other nails.  Other places I've been to at least attempt to make it look better instead of "nope can't do anything about it, maybe clear polish". First off, thank you so much for taking me even when I walked in 20 minutes prior to closing. Secondly, some of the staff were very kind, such as the one who gave me a pedicure. But others were kind of rude and unprofessional. I witnessed a staff calling out another staff at the front counter for not putting away some nail polish. There were still at least 4 costumers left so that wasn't necessary. Thirdly, because of the time, I just asked for a basic French pedi. She trimmed my toe nails and filed it so hard and super close to my skin that it actually gave me a cut. I knew something was hurting but thought it was just in my head. However, I knew something wasn't right when my big toe started to sting when it was submerged into water and when she poured acetone over it. I wasn't able to check until I got home and it was indeed a cut. I think she also tried to give me a massage but I really did not feel anything. It just felt like she was trying to put lotion on my legs. I also don't know if this is the regular or not because I've never seen this done before, but my pedicurist shared tools with her co-worker, who was also working on a customer's toe nails. The other co-worker just handed my lady the brush and my lady just used it right on me without even cleaning it, I was honestly kind of disgusted. And lastly, half way done with my pedi, an older lady came up to my seat and they were talking about closing and if the card machine needs to be left on. I told them that if they're in a rush, they can go ahead and slide my card. So the older lady slid my card, and asked for me to tell her my PIN number. I was just like, uhhh, can I type it in? She couldn't even hand the machine to me but told me to get up to go punch it in during the middle of my pedi. My PIN number is very personal information and she should have known better than to just ask me for it straight up like that. Overall, I would not return. Pedicure was good! I brought my own base and paint and the tech didn't even bat an eye. Nice leg massage, and the red pedicure looks great. My complaint is hygiene. The tech was sneezing and rubbing her eyes and dripping nose- girl- I GET IT. I have allergies too. You have GOT to wash your hands. I was cringing, cringing, cringing. Ew. I came to this place with a bridal party to get our nails done. I was not impressed. We made an appointment so we could all get our nails done together but half the group finished before us and the bride & I were last. Not a single employee said hello or acted welcoming. The guy that did my nails was not friendly at all & seemed to be rushing. He immediately started painting my nails without filing them or removing the cuticle. I let it go. It was just nails for a wedding & I would get them redone when I came home. He globbed so much nail polish on them, they definitely weren't dry when he said they were. First time going and they were absolutely horrible. The guy I got, Johnny was so rude and kept trying to tell me that the most basic nails were going to be $40 when my nail lady I usually go to only charges $20. My little sister got her nails done by a lady who was so rough on her nails she had to tell the lady to not be so rough & the only thing she said was "if you keep saying this is to rough, I won't be able to do your nails". Not only that, but our nails together came out to $45 (a nail set for my little sister $20 & a nail set for me $25) and the lady at the end said ok, $45 and we paid them & that lady put that $5 in her pocket!!! I reply, "no thank you"To which she answers:"Maybe next time you tell me you don't want manicure anymore"This was the the cherry on top comment of the shit service sundae she provided. Picked this shop off of Yelp. Not so great!!! Believe the negative reviews! They are all accurate!  **** on their website that I accessed via Yelp, it says they offer 10% off for In Shape Gym Members. They REFUSED to honor the discount! They said they meant to take that down a year ago!!! TERRIBLE BUSINESS ETHICS!!!First, the employees seemed annoyed with my questions regarding pricing and services. As a first time customer, I think questions are pretty standard. The lady doing my pedicure didn't say two words to me and never once made eye contact.  Not friendly at all! Took over 30 minutes for them to remove gel polish from my toes. Paid extra for callous remover, and it was less than a minute of scrubbing on each foot.  The polish on my toes has streaks and lines; looks like a child painted them. I had to cut the pedicure short since the gel removal took so long. Paid $$$ to soak my feet in water, remove gel polish and have less than a minute of callous removing scrub. NOT WORTH $$$$!!! I love learning new things every week. I've done a nail course before, and I can honestly say it was a complete waste of time. Sian is an amazing teacher and really cares of the progress of everyone in the group, no one gets left behind I've made friends for life in this course ... The best part about this course is we don't only learn about the practical side of nails and the theory, we also learn life skills too such as computer skills, how to build your CV, preparing for interviews, starting your own mobile business starters and more.
