I have to say, this place is pretty hit or miss. Some girls are good. Some are awful. Not sure why I've continued to come back. But today, I decided this place just isn't going to have my business anymore. The girl I had was cutting corners. She did everything in a rush. I barely got a manicure. In the past it would have taken 45 min for my gel mani. Today it was less than 25 min and my nails really don't look good. The worst is that I think the owner knows when one of her employees screwed up, but she won't say anything and pretends it's all good. Not coming back. Read Less

I recently moved into the city and wanted to find a local spot. So far, I like their Service and how organize they are. They have Lots of gel colors to choose from and the place is clean. Parking is in a structure with lots of parking to choose from. The ambiance has a relax feel to it with very comfortable massage chairs. There are outlets behind the chairs so you can charge your phone while getting nails done.Prices are decent for the service and ambiance of the place of great! What a great experience. I  was a walk-in today trying to find a new nail salon because my usual one was not cutting it anymore. From the minute I walked in, I knew I liked it. I  was greeted right away and the atmosphere was super friendly. There was a bit of a wait, but it was ok, since I was just a walk in. Throughout the appointment as people came in they were recognized and addressed by name. You could tell right away that people enjoy coming in and the staff enjoys getting to know their customers. Went there last night with a 5 pm appointment, and we were on time. I waited 40 min for my pedicure, and 75 min for my manicure to start. They were sitting walk ins before us, even though we had an appointment. They weren't very respectful to the customers. They seemed more interested in talking to each other in Vietnamese than paying attention to the customer.The only reason they're getting two stars was because they did a decent job on our nails and it was a clean location.I guess there's no need to make an appointment if they're sitting everyone in order of arrival. They get three stars for location, an adjoining free parking structure, and BEBE (their eyebrow waxing extraordinaire). I've passed by here numerous times on my way to this place or another inside this cute outdoor plaza. Today I stopped in to get a pedicure and get my eyebrows waxed. I was seated right away, which is always nice. My issue is that the girl they assigned to complete my pedicure was apparently sick with something, as she was coughing EVERYWHERE, sniffling, and blowing her nose in the middle of my pedicure. When she took out her used tissue to blow her nose, that's when I'd had enough. I also found it GROSS that she blew her nose and then resumed touching my feet without washing her hands or switching to new gloves. I told her this but she acted like she didn't understand me. I asked her was she sick, but she sneered and said no. She then begin speaking to a nearby coworker in a language I'm not familiar with (which is always extremely rude). From this point my pedicure was downhill. She sped through the balance of my pedicure with lightening speed (which I guess is a good thing, since I wanted to get away from her as quickly as humanly possible.)If I ever give them another shot for a pedicure, I'd specifically ask to NOT be sat with her. I found her to be lacking in professionalism and couth. All around terrible first impression.As for my eyebrows, BEBE got me TOGETHER chile! Listen to me. Face on fleeeek. She was patient, took her time, listened to what I wanted, and executed flawlessly. I left a tip on my credit card receipt ONLY for BEBE; the person doing my pedi did not deserve a penny extra from me. Not a red one. Good job Bebe!!!! Two stars is me being nice.I'm Vietnamese and fluent, but I don't like to speak it to anyone but my family. I also don't look Viet so whenever I go to nail shops, they don't assume that I am. Today was the first time I've ever experienced nail salon ladies talking shit about me. The first remark was the lady doing my nails (Linh). She was saying how I was taking forever to choose a color even though she was only barely halfway done with my nails..Then the next was when two other workers walked by to check out my nails, and one of them said to Linh how next time she can improve by filing the bottoms more because they weren't nice BUT right after she said that, that same lady looked up at me and said to my face that my nails were pretty.They also said to each other that I ask a lot of questions (But if I don't then I don't know what I get charged for).Then the last one was the one that got me to write this review. When Linh put my sandals back on for me (I also got a pedi), she said in Vietnamese, "why's this girl's feet so big"It's kinda funny that she said that, so I just thought I'd share the laugh with everyone else :) maybe they say things like this about you too! :)As for the actual service itself, I liked my pedi. For my nails, I believe the girl doing them was new to acrylic so the shape is inconsistent even though it's just plain square. Overall just okay. $70 total. Read Less

Went with a couple of girlfriends on a whim last Saturday afternoon and BOY should we have called ahead! Warning: they do excellent services, so I can see how they are so crowded, but you need to be prepared to wait if you are a walk in on a weekend. Our pedicures came out great, but it is one star less for the lack of communication in the wait. We were told "about 20 minutes" and that the 3 of us probably wouldn't sit together. Totally fine! But it was an hour's wait from the time we signed in, and probably only because I asked the owner if they truly were going to have time to accommodate us walk ins with all their appointments. I have been to so many mani/pedi salons! I try them a couple times and then for some reason I am disappointed, either the treatment or attitude of the technician is less than desired.HOWEVERI have never had a bad experience at "Happy Nails" in Marina del Rey. The atmosphere is calming, the technicians are great especially my favorites Cassidy and Dim. All of them are friendly and they always have a smile on their face. It's hard work but they all seem to enjoy what they do. They are always busy but if you make an appointment they can usually take you on time. If for some reason they are a few minutes late they are worth the wait. They make you feel like you are the only one getting a treatment. I typically have a good experience at happy nails, but my most recent visit will probably be my last. The young lady who did my nails was younger looking and skinny. She was not friendly at all and seemed to rush my manicure. She even left a piece of dust or hair INSIDE of my gel nails! That was the first time anyone has ever made such a huge mistake when doing my nails! So now I have it stuck in my nail for about 2 weeks! I didn't catch her name but she definitely disappointed me with her work. They're okay. I used to think they were great and they were my go-to. But the techs were hit and miss for me the last few visits. Also, today i called and asked if they'd have time for a mani pedi at 1:45 and the owner said yeah and asked for my name. Then i get there at like 1:41, sign in, and is not until about 2pm before she says she'll be able to get me in a seat soon, without acknowledging how long I've been waiting. That's one of my biggest pet peeves. I could have made one or two stops on the way. Then during the service i ask how much for 5 more min hand and foot massage. The mani tech said $10 total. When i get the receipt it says $7 each. So later i asked to a copy of the receipt and confirmed that it was $14, not $10. She just says yeah, and mentions the price of a shoulder massage like that had anything to do with anything. But that's okay, i took it out of their tip, whether they realized it or not. The massages were great though. Lastly, my toes are not filed down evenly (another pet peeve, especially on my big toes), when she was really supposed to just file a little in the first place (they were actually even and at a decent length when i went in). I always get a gel mani and a gel pedi. The pedi will last me double the time the mani does and they're always perfectly done! Vivienne is my go-to for my gel manis but I've had my nails and pedis done by others, and I've never had a complaint. Highly recommend! NOTE: this is NOT next to DSW. As a person who frequently participates in marathons and other events, it is KEY to visit nail salons who can turn those Forest Gump runner toes into delishussness. John & Co. hooked me up! The salon was clean and sunny, they had a large selection of OPI gel and matching standard polishes, and they were very efficient in managing multiple services at once. I got my gel done at the same time as my pedicure which no doubt saved a chunk of time. Staff was friendly and I was able to pay by card and also leave tip on the card, which isn't a regular occurrence for me in New York. I explained my Marathon Toe situation and John made me feel at ease, even explaining to the pedicure tech that my toes were abused and not dirty. Gave my sister a pedicure for her birthday.  Sad to say, it wasn't at all worth the $30 + $6 tip.  The woman was very nice (and we aren't mentioning her name as we realize they aren't well paid and need the job) but not at all detailed.  Her toenails are now cut at a slant, the polish doesn't cover and it's on the skin around her toenails.  Very disappointing. I absolutely LOVE this nail salon. I've been in LA for a year and tried many salons before I found Happy Nails. Everyone is very friendly and professional. If you have an appointment you never wait to be seated and if you are just walking in for a service you usually don't wait too long to be taken care of. I have had my nails done by many of their technicians and I love them all. (John, Mindy, May to name a few) They are patient and do their job really well. Just had a gel mani done! Happy Nails is a beautiful space. I was able to walk in Sunday afternoon without a wait. I quickly chose my polish, met my nail technician was NeNe (might be mispronouncing) and was promptly seated in a chair and sank my feet in. The chairs are really comfortable, and got the job done kneading my back. I chose the basic pedi, which included a foot exfoliation and 5 minute leg massage. I clearly saw the nail tools were new because she opened the package right in front of me. Sanitation is the most important thing at a nail salon, so I'm happy to report Happy Nails is very clean.As for the pedicure, specifically for being the basic option, I thought it was pretty good. I like that it was long enough to be able to relax, but short enough because I didn't want to be there too long. My pedi looks good and I haven't had an issue with any paint chipping yet. Took my bridesmaids here for a pampering session before the big day and was very pleased with relaxing day. My techs was very diligent and thorough with my mani/pedi. The salon is very bright and clean (which is a HUGE must). The location is right next to Equinox and is easily accessible from the parking structure.
