Alexa was able to take me as a last- minute add on (on a Tuesday). She listened to what I wanted and was conscientious about making sure my hair was cut well and evenly.She also made sure I was okay with the products (because not every one wants hair oil, etc.) she used throughout the process and explained why she was using it. She also asked me about how much effort and maintenance I was willing to do after the cut, and helped me figure out I did not want high maintenance bangs, LOL.Very reasonable price for just a shampoo/cut/ blow dry without color work: $60. Great considering the area.Receptionist was very friendly and helpful setting up the appointment. I was offered a beverage right away :) Service was quick and courteous. I couldn't be happier with my results from the balayage Marge did on me! I've been going to Marge for the 1.5 years- she never disappoints. I have to say that seeing Marge (pronounced Marga) for a cut and color is the best decision I have ever made!! I showed her some photos of what I wanted and she was so thoughtful and helpful in talking me through what I wanted. The cut she gave me changed my life!!! And the color is absolutely perfect. I will never, EVER go anywhere else. Marge took her time to get me the perfect look and wasn't in a hurry to rush me out the door even when it took longer than my appointment time was for (and I was the last appointment of her day!). Alexa did an AMAZING job on my hair! My bf called last min to see if they can fit me in and they did! I was offered many choices of beverages by Melissa, the bubbly charismatic gal who runs the front desk. I went with the red wine . Melissa is awesome! She laughed with me and has a great sense of humor. When I came in it was late afternoon & I  had no clue what i wanted done. I  knew I wanted something...noticable. I walked out of Los Gatos Beauty Bar feeling like a brand new woman! In the last several years, I've gotten haircuts and coloring from various places (i.e. friend's friends' salons, Aveda, etc.), but I never left completely satisfied. Don't get me wrong, they did well, but it never lasted long and I felt like I was spending $$ on maintenance.I decided I needed to tone the orangey yellow (once ash blonde) hair on my head and spent a few hours looking at reviews and pricing. After reading so many great reviews and seeing her work on IG, I knew I had to go to Renee. She. is. amazing! I didn't realize how much I disliked my hair color and cut until Renee did her magic. She recommended cutting my hair because she saw how thick and stacked my layers were. I wish I had a before picture to emphasize how good her work is. My hair is now blended with a soft touch of color and I cannot stop staring at it! Renee is awesome! I've been coming to her for several years.  I won't go anywhere else. She does a fantastic job on hair. She is always professional, and meticulous, which means she will take the time to do your hair well. My hair turns out beautiful every time. Renee  has  also improved the quality of my hair since I started with her.  My hair has redeemed luster and shine, which is unbelievable since I straightened my hair for over 15 years. My hair  was dry. dull,  and brittle when I first came to Renee.   After I continued going to Renee, my hair regained some of the strength, and it hardly resembles the dry, damaged hair I had. What's crazy is that my hair looks like Renee did a balayage to it, but it's simply the way it turns out! Renee has also been very flexible. There have been times when I was late, and I let her know, and she was so understanding. She has stayed way past the closing time several times- again not rushing me through an appointment. Something that I also thought was so sweet is Renee called to check up on me one time when I had some stuff going on. So I don't know where to begin.....I went to have balayage done last week and the place I went to completely ruined my hair!! my daughter happened to come across  Renee from Los Gatos Beauty Bar instagram and OMG the pics were so beautiful.....the color corrections that she has done blew my mind. I honestly was a little apprehensive about going to have my hair fixed however I emailed Renee and she was incredibly helpful in explaining to me what the process would be to correct my hair. I followed Amber Anderson from her previous salon to Los Gatos Beauty Bar, so obviously I think Amber walks on water when it comes to cutting, styling, and coloring my hair. She is also warm and friendly, lots of fun to chat to, and very easy to get along with. She's the best!Amber does a great job on my fairly simple hair style, giving it little touches that add texture and volume and make it really easy for me to style well at home. I've also been getting peekaboo colour added--first pink, then purple, now blue--and Amber has a way of doing it that gives the colour dimension and depth. I have never walked away unhappy with how my hair looks.I've also never walked away unhappy with my overall experience at Los Gatos Beauty Bar. It's clean and bright with a funky modern vibe, high ceilings, and colourful decor. First visit to the Los Gatos Beauty Bar & to Renee specifically & I am beyond happy. I first stumbled upon Renee's work while looking through Yelp for a hair stylist that was skilled at Blonde coloring. I am sure you may be reading my review now having spent the last few hours (like I was) scouring online looking for a colorist. Look no further! Renee is amazing. I came in for full highlights after I was getting bored of previously (at another salon) receiving a Balayage. I wanted to brighten up my root area and go lighter all over for summer. Renee quickly foiled my whole head (literally in 30 minutes) which I appreciated since I've sat in stylists chairs for 3 hours for the same coverage. I waited a bit for the color to lift, washed/toned and dried. My highlights are so blended and natural you wouldn't even know I had my hair done (in a good way!) my hair lifted wonderfully, evenly and while still maintaining its health. I immediately thanked Renee & booked my next app. 9 weeks out for a partial and cut. The whole head of highlights cost a fair $165. I think it is safe to say I have found my new stylist! Marge was amazing and did a great job on my balayage ! I was looking to go lighter for the summer but still have a color that was low maintenance and she did exactly that! I scheduled an appointment with Renee based on the rave reviews she had on Yelp. Unfortunately, my experience was less than stellar.Color wise, the process went fine and she worked skillfully. However, she continuously commented on how the last person to color my hair left really harsh lines between my natural color and the dye. She assured me she would fix it, but once I got home and had a chance to really examine my hair, she had made those "blunt lines" even more obvious. There is now a chunky lone highlight right at the front of my hair, which is driving me nuts. Regarding the cut, I had asked her to keep it long, just an inch off the ends as I am growing my hair out for a wedding I am in. She took off 3 inches easily, as well as leaving square ends when I had asked for a sharp V cut. In the end, she spent maybe 10-15 minutes on the actual cutting part, which felt brief and as if she hadn't listened to what I had asked for.Overall, this cut and color will have grown out beautifully in 6-10 weeks, but it should have been beautiful from the moment I left the salon, especially for the price. I have had the same cut and color (balayage, 1-5inches off the end) for $140 at one place and $240 at another (both including tip). This cut and color was $380 (including tip) which I find ridiculous and was really upset about considering during the entire appointment she repeatedly talked about how reasonable her prices were.. All in all a strange experience. Will be seeking a new salon to fix these awkward chunky highlights. Read Less

I came here to get a haircut with Renee and I left a very happy camper :) I've had a traumatizing experience several years ago so I'm a little skeptical when it comes to new hairdressers. The last time I got my haircut was actually October of 2015... LOL!Anyway, I showed Renee pictures of what I wanted and when she was done it came out BETTER than I expected. Renee is the best!! She's very thorough and super artistic at what she does. She listens carefully to your vision and tells you whether she can give you want you want in how many sessions. I like her honesty because it resets my expectations. I saw Renee about a month ago to get my first balayage. I have dark Asian hair and after my first session, my hair was lighter than expected. I went to see Renee again for my second session and the results were amazing! However, my objective is to go blonde by summer so I will probably need more sessions to reach my goal. Parking was horrible, location was tucked away and to top it off, my haircut was bad. The girl that cut my hair was inexperienced. This is my first time at Beauty Bar- why would you book me with someone that inexperienced? Not a good way to make a positive first impression. I found this place on here and contacted them via PM a little over a week ago. Out of the three places that I contacted, only this one contacted me back. Since most of the reviews were good, I decided to go there for a consultation. I did get a quote over the phone for the Keratin straightening treatment as well as color and highlights.To my surprise, the Keratin treatment would only cost $250 for my hair length. Each stylist charges a different price. My stylist was Shannon. On Saturday she did a base color plus highlights and she cut my hair. The total turned out to be $245. The cut was $65, but I don't recall how much the color and the rest of it was.Still, that's not bad for all that! She did an amazing job! She is also cool and fun to talk to. We had fun talking about a bunch of different things. We mostly talked about shows and movies that we like. She's also a fan of the show the Walking Dead and Daryl Dixon-:)Anyways, she is going to do the Keratin straightening treatment later this week since it takes a long time to do. She told me that she could do everything in one day, but then I'd be there all day, so I decided to do the color and cut first especially since I'm not going anywhere special for now. Before I got my hair done, it was a frizzy mess since my hair is naturally wavy. I also have super dull brown hair that had a few greys in it. I'd often wear it up since it was so dry, damaged, and frizzy looking. Anyone who could transform hair as disastrous as mine into what the pic shows is truly gifted at doing hair IMHO!This place is small on the outside, but it's big in the inside and is clean and modern looking. I was so happy with the way things turned out, that I left her $300 for a $245 bill. Most of my friends have told me that my hair looks amazing-:) My husband isn't crazy about the red color as he's conservative, but oh well, as long as I'm happy and my friends think it looks good, who cares? lol! Came to beauty bar based on the 5 star reviews but had the worst hair experience of my life.I arrived at 10:30 a.m. My stylist was Kristina. I explained to her that I had gone from jet black hair to platinum blonde from a previous stylist ($700+ to achieve this level of blonde from dyed jet black) and had been growing my hair out in the hope of getting a balayage. Right off the bat she had an attitude with me. I had concerns about blending the color with my natural root growth and she basically gave me a "do you want it or not?" answer. Not what I was looking for in not only a new stylist as a first time client or someone who was doing a drastic hair change from an all over platinum blonde. I asked if she had pictures so I could show her and she said "No. Do you have pinterest?" and walked away to get her phone. I showed her a photo of a balayage hair color and she said she could do it.I decided to trust her and went ahead with the balayage. During the hair treatment she already seemed annoyed and was slapping the color on hurriedly. Again, I trusted her and was just hopeful that it would come out as promised. While my hair was processing she told me the color wasn't adhering as it should be. I didn't think much of it and just trusted her. After about 30 minutes she washes it out and starts to dry and cut it. Halfway through the drying process I knew immediately that the color was wrong. It was nothing close to a balayage. My platinum hair that I spent $700+ and countless hours and time to achieve was now and all over ash brown with thin highlights. Greyish almost. Nothing like the picture I showed her. It actually aged me. I have never cried at a salon but I did after I saw what she did. I told her it was nothing like what she said she would do and she offered to fix it but was obviously super pissed she had to spend extra time to do it.She mixed together bleach in a pissed off way, slapped it on my head and put me in the front room so she could get to her other client. She didn't even put a cap on me and bleach was dripping down my neck. I heard her tell her other client that she had a "nightmare client" which I assume she was talking about me. So not only did she mess up my hair, have an attitude with me but she called me a nightmare client?! She's the one that messed MY hair up!I sat in the front room with bleach dripping down my neck and burning my head. She finally comes back over to wash the bleach out and jerks my head as she's washing my hair. Obviously pissed off. She has to put a toner on my roots because they are yellow. Mind you I have already been there over 3 hours! She goes to dry my hair and is brushing my hair so hard I can feel it ripping and breaking. By the time she dries it it is so damaged that it has to be cut again! So now my hair that I've been manicuring for months and trying to grow out has to be chopped over 3 inches because she messed it up. She doesn't charge me but I'm in the service industry so I at least tip her $40 for her time. I have never been treated so horrible or had such abuse by a stylist in my life. This was the WORST experience at a salon I have ever gone through. Even after I got home I noticed patchy brown streaks still in my hair, my roots are yellow, my hair is chopped off and STILL damaged, and that chick was nothing but mean the whole 4 hours she ruined my hair and I still tipped her.
