This seemed like such a cool place to get my nails done at and i was super excited for it but i didn't schedule an appointment and when i walked in the girl at the desk seemed annoyed and was acting really rude towards me didn't ask what i was in for or what i wanted and as soon as i said i wanted a medí pedí she didn't even look at the schedule and said they were all booked for the rest of the day didn't even give me an option to schedule an appointment for another day . Beautiful salon, great service, friendly staff and wonderful options for colors. They offer refreshments and it's the kind of place I would plan an outing for squad. So many boomerang and intsgrammable corners.I received a pedicure and manicure and selected two colors. I really didn't love the color I choose for my manicure but didn't say anything because both my hands were done and drying. I found this gem while seeking out a non toxic nail experience. The shop is in a really hip cool part of downtown Los Angeles, arts district. My "basecoat" pedicure was scheduled for 11am, we started right on time. It was so relaxing to received a wonderful massage and have my toes taken care of while sipping on hot ginger lemon tea. I didn't feel rushed or forced into adding on services. The conversation with my technician, Arlene, was perfect. She helped me choose from 3 polishes by trying them all out on my toes so I could see how they look. Hellllo?! That's amazing! All in all, this place is a true find and I will def be coming back! Recently went to Base Coat with a girlfriend of mine and we thoroughly enjoyed this salon. The design is so aesthetically pleasing, its very Instagram friendly and chic. Would love for whomever designed this place to do my house! Ha. The salon originated in Denver, CO. They have 2 salons in Denver, 1 here in the Arts District in DTLA and then as of 3 weeks ago, 1 in the Melrose/Fairfax area of LA.The salon offers an array of manicure / pedicure combinations. We got the quick coat manicure ($50) and pedicures ($40). There is an option for a 10 minute massage that's priced at an extra $40 which for 10 minutes, I didn't think was worth it. Is only for your hands and feet. Note: This is an appointment only salon, no walk-in's allowed.What I loved about this salon is they had their own non-toxic polishes and products for all services. They have a very large amount of colors to choose from for the regular polishes. They could probably use more gel colors (note, that's not their brand, its a different non-toxic brand).They also have a full bar and offer prosecco, juices, and mixed health juices. I think the specialty juices are $7. In their little gift shop area, they sell lots of different cuticle oils, body scrubs, nail files, etc. Overall, this salon is beautiful. I really loved it. AMAZING! Came here as a birthday treat with my two girlfriends and it was amazing. Such a beautiful space that's very relaxing and chic. I think I've found my new nail obsession! I came here with my sister who won an instagram contest, and tagged along to get a simple mani pedi. The place was immaculate, warm sun streaming in gold detailed nail spa and glowing it all up. Their decor is right out of an anthropologie magazine! So trendy and on point. Decided to take a chance on this salon and it was a great experience. First off, I called as soon as they opened and found they could accommodate me that afternoon. On arrival, I had no wait time - just the time it took me to pick my color! There was no chemical smell and it was refreshing to find that they avoid their use. Essential oil blends are used to soften cuticles and they only do gels. Arlene was my tech and she was amazing! Not only professional but thorough and the massage I got was so relaxing! Location, location, location--this Base Coat is located in a cool, still gritty but up-and-coming part of the downtown arts district. I've loved this area for a long time and it's super rad to see it changing every time I come back! There's a cool living wall/patio outside that's very Instagrammable, if ya know what I mean. When you walk in, the decor is so fresh and so clean--lots of white, black, and gold with modern, pretty accents. There's a bar for ordering tea or drinks, lots of nontoxic beauty products to swoon over, and a gorgeous area to sit back and get your services done. I got a gel pedi by the lovely Arlene which took about an hour (I never wanted it to end). I've had their gel on my nails and it lasts about as long as a regular gel--I can't believe it's nontoxic! The gel will cost you a bit more than your average nail salon, but I can attest that it's worth it. If you want to "treat yo self" this definitely is where to go! A mani pedi in style; this little bougie gem  is worth the cost for an occasional treat! The staff is so sweet; they give you water, tea, coffee and really desire to make sure you feel taken care of. As environment goes it's super clean and chic! The nail artist are all really talent, and it's all about the details from the cuticle oil to the organic Seven free nail polish it's definitely a different experience from your standard nail salon. Decided to come here after the gel manicures at the  place I have been going to for the last few months have been chipping/peeling really quickly. Plus they cut me at the last time. The online booking system is super easy to use. The ambiance is lovely and the color selection nice. Daniela did my gel manicure and Arlene my pedicure. First of all this place is BEAUTIFUL! As soon as you walk in you will be stunned by EVERYTHING and it doesn't smell nasty like other nail salons. You'll want a picture with every little corner. The attention to detail is mind blowing. The manicures and pedicure last a while and the nail polish doesn't have crazy chemicals. This place is adorable. Unfortunately my manicure and pedicure was not. It took hours for my manicure to dry and later noticed it was very uneven. Parts of my nails were thick and lumpy with polish and others were almost transparent as if there was only one coat. It was just a very inconsistent and disappointing manicure/pedicure and honestly I've never paid this much for both services so I expected much better quality. By far the most expensive nail place I have ever been to BUT I mean it is LA in the "trendy district" (aka art district next door to the ever famous Museum Of Ice Cream) and extremely beautiful with an equally as attentive staff. I will preface this by saying my client paid for my service but regardless ( even if my experience was free) I would highly consider coming back and paying $40 for my gell manicure and $40 for a pedicure just to hang out in the cool space. Great service, super clean products, eco friendly and plenty of instagramable moments. Hands down the best nail salon I've been to in LA! I have Michelle as my manicurist and Arlene as my pedicurist and they are both fabulous. All their technicians are highly trained. I came here initially because they use LED lights to set gels instead of UV and the salon is as toxin free as possible. I keep coming back because they are so friendly and my nails are done perfectly. Even when the gels grow out they are nice and round on the bottom edges instead of being all jagged as often happens with gels. I only treat myself to a mani & pedi MAYBE once every year. Since it was my birthday, I took the day off work to have a "me day". This included a mani & pedi at Base Coat. I love the online appointments and text reminders. Parking was plentiful & I got a spot right in front. I worried about the 1 hour time limit since my appointment was going to be longer than an hour. The lady at the front desk said not to worry since the parking police don't frequent the area. The mani and pedi were both great. I did the Quick Coat mani and Luxe pedi. The mani held up really well. A week in and it started chipping due to all the cooking I do. The pedi still looks the same. If you have time & some treatyourself cash, do the Luxe pedi. I loved the scrub. The space is super well decorated & the pedi chairs are comfy. I found some of the service (not my own) to be a bit cold. Maybe it was because it was in the morning.
