I was really shocked coming across some of these reviews on here! I've been going to Ginny and Donne for my nails for about 4 years now. They're one of the most knowledgable sisters in not only nail art, but the science of it and know what's best for each clients nails. I visited this place a while ago and I loved it. They were really nice and though I didn't have an appointment they got me in. I had my nails done for my wedding and I absolutely loved them and my toes. I couldn't get any extreme designs because it was last minute. The only thing is that they are pretty expensive. Terrible customer service. I was excited to book my appointment for my wedding.I received a text confirmation saying my appointment was scheduled. Then out of the blue I got an email notifying me that my appointment was cancelled by Vinny. I emailed back immediately asking why and tried to call back to speak to someone but nothing. So I'm new to.the neighborhood and I Thot I would try this place out.  I'm a mani pedi junkie once a week perfectionist.  I walked n and said I was new to neighborhood and needed new place to go to.  She acted like I was BOTHERING her and as if how dare I think I could come in and make an appt at her place.  Completely rude.  Welcome to the neighborhood.  Thanks a lot. What a joke. I told her I didn't need one right at moment but maybe they could be my new place and she STILL was almost insulted by my presence.  WHATEVER. I'm extremely displeased with my experience at Hey Nice Nails. The two sisters that supposedly run this business are completely rude and the worst part is that I'm not sure that they even realize it. If I could have given this review zero stars I would have. I have been following hey nice nails online for a long time and finally decided to book an apt through the booking site. When I arrived I was not greeted. Basically just stood there for a second in the doorway waiting to be greeted but they just stared with blank expressions. They made the entire appointment very awkward and uncomfortable. I tried to carry out a conversation and was shut down every time with an annoyed sounding response.I will say that I did leave with really nice looking gel  nail art, but 3 of the nails lifted off clean after Doing dishes once. They were obviously not applied right considering I've been getting gel for the last three years and have never had this issue anywhere else. The appointment took 2 hours and 15 minutes and Ginny and Donne did a fantastic job of making me feel uncomfortable the entire time. Will definitely never return to this place and I recommend that anyone interested just continues to admire their work from afar. Plus the salon is in a bad part of town, the chairs were extremely uncomfortable to be sitting in for that long (definitely not salon chairs) and there were 2 accounts of homeless people making disturbances right outside the door. I just moved here from Portland and my nail tech recommended I come here. I'm so disappointed. Apparently you have to make a consultation appointment just to get a manicure here (which is $75, no service included at all, just a tour and conversation.) if you schedule a regular appointment, they will cancel it and not explain why until you call and ask. Oh, and after you pay $75 they won't do your nails anyway because they don't take any new clients. They should really update all the info on their website and stop advertising if they want to stop taking new customers. It's a complete scam to ask someone for $75 and then never actually do their nails. I got amazing nail art done in Portland from real artists who also treat customers right. It's not hard to do. I love this place! There are so many designs and polish options it's almost overwhelming. The owners are so gifted though that I just prefer and trust them and give them free reign. If you are someone that recognizes nail design for the art form it is, and love planning out your next set this is the place for you!    It's right next to the coffee shop so if you're driving and you see a coffee place it's right next to that- the sign can be hard to see otherwise.       It's great, because you really get attention and they take the time to really make for your nails perfect. These sisters are rad.  The first time I came here I was offered a slice of their freshly delivered pizza, and hey, can't turn down free food.  Their shop is located on Elm in DTLB.  Although small, it is loaded with shelves of nail art and nail polish.  So much that it can be a little overwhelming but exciting.  I showed Ginny some examples of nail art I wanted and she was able to draw inspiration from it, asking me questions to get a better idea of what I was looking for. So creative! She takes her time and the results are long lasting, original, and worth every penny.  $75 for a set of gels with art.  Lasted me 5 weeks and I'm always washing my hands at work.I've also received the deluxe mani and pedi $65 from Ginny.  I picked out a Tom Ford color and still no chips and it's been a few weeks.  Very satisfied with the services I've received so far. I've been a follower of Hey Nice Nails for a while, but hadn't splurged for my own set yet.You see, HNN are neighbors of mine.I've watched them move into my neighborhood, and I've watched them flourish into a beauuuuutiful butterfly.I decided to cheat on my regular manicurist, and booked an appointment with Donne on StyleSeat through their website.The process was easy, it listed their prices, and what to expect.I came in with somewhat of an idea and Donne helped me make it 'me.'I grow my nails naturally long, and usually just have them polished (my nails are strong and grow fast).So going to gel, gel art, and having my nails filed to pretty points was different, but I love the end result.If you're looking for affordable nail art (considering the time, materials, and skills put into this), a clean and safe manicure, friendly and funny conversation, and feeling like a princess, this is your place to go! Went to HNN for the 1st time on Friday and I can't wait to go back! Donne did my nails and she paid great attn to detail. I got half moons and she made sure the lines were perfect and not sloppy.
