You definitely need and appointment or you will wait forever. No one said hi when I walked in. The owner was was so unprofessional having a personal conversation out loud to her husband asking was whomever they were talking too "were they retarded" she said it like 10 times. Referring to a one of the Casussian works as being so white that she blended into the white walls. One of the other Hispanic workers defended her by saying she talks about everyone no matter the race. The customer that the owner was working on even told her she was being unprofessional too. This salon is perfect for me because it's super close to where I live, and even though they are usually busy I always walk in and am taken care of quickly. The girls there are sweet, fun, and they do a great job. My nails always come out super cute, love them! Read Less

I have been in and out of AV for about 10 years so I'm always trying to find quality while I'm here. Zoe is amazing (photo attached) but honestly lately everyone I have had has been spot on. I started there with someone a few years ago then I followed her around until she left the state. Then recently and my sister started seeing Uni; and she was also amazing... and again when I couldn't get an appointment with her I tried Zoe who has now become my #1, when she couldn't see me I found holly who I used to see regularly at another salon... all around Nail techs for mani/pedi are safe and so far amazing! If I could give this place a zero, I would. Today I was thinking of going in to get a full set so I came on yelp to look at some photos when I came across some screenshots that were taken from Instagram regarding views on public breastfeeding. I, a business owner, breastfeeding mother and advocate, was absolutely horrified. Owner stated, women need to cover up and added #keepyourprivatesprivate, and then went on to ARGUE with one of the commenters! It is totally unprofessional for a business owner to shame breastfeeding mothers publicly on the business page. I mean honestly, how many women come in your shop and breastfeed anyway? That fact that the owner found it appropriate to post these opinions on her business page is mind boggling to me. No mother should ever be made to feel uncomfortable while tending the NEEDS of her child. How dare you! No mother is trying to make anyone uncomfortable. If you or your husband or your male clients are uncomfortable, that's sounds like a personal problem to me. Your post made me EXTREMELY uncomfortable and angry. I will never support a business who shames breastfeeding mothers. It is illegal to ask a mother to nurse somewhere else or to cover up. "Keep your privates private" was the owners hashtag. I used to be a patron at this shop a few years ago before I moved away for school. I always had a beautiful set from the ladies who worked there, I didn't even mind the prices because it was quality work. I recently moved back and was considering returning for service... That is until I saw first hand how unprofessional and petty the owner, Sylvia, is. She posted on her shops instagram that breastfeeding women need to cover up... When I called her out on it, she got snarky and condescending. She only removed the post once I asked if this was her shop's policy that breastfeeding women need to cover because I think California law would disagree. Then I posted it to her shop's fb page because I think customers should know if the person from whom they're receiving service may be publically shaming them. She also posted snarky comments, one in which she said her husband thinks it's nasty!! Wow, okay. So then she removed my post, so I made it a review on their fb page so she couldn't take it down, but that didn't stop her from blocking me from posting and continuing to post harassing comments (and then deleting them because she's obviously a coward). Her teenage son even got involved and harassed me via fb messenger. I will never return here. This lady can't even keep a staff as nobody who worked there before I moved still works there, so what does that even tell you? I'll be following my old nail tech at her current salon. Read Less

I don't typically write reviews because sometimes service people have bad days too but this issue has to be addressed. I went in with my family for a pedicure today (7-29-17) and the man that preformed my service was horrible. He got a phone call right after he asked me to put my foot up on the cushion and said "put your foot back in, I'll be right back" and stood up and left me for ten minutes while the others in my party were already getting theirs done. The nail tech fin...ally comes back and begins my pedicure and is done in 13 minutes. I was completely done and my aunt, who got the same service as me and was started ten minutes before me, was still on the massage portion of her session. Called the shop on a Saturday after I had been turned down by a few other shops. Carlos answered was very nice, he said they were booked and did not have any openings however he took my number just in case a spot became available. About two hours later he called me back and said they could fit me in. I was ecstatic! I arrived and had my nails done by Jenn, who is an absolute doll. She understood what I wanted unlike some places. She was friendly and provided excellent customer service. I have been back since my first visit and love my nails. So happy to finally have found such a great nail shop in the AV. The quality is amazing!!! I deal with water all day and with that being said many other nails have not made it two weeks let alone three which my nails from Chic not only last but look just as good on week three as they did the day I had them done. Got to check out this nail spa today Spot on with what I have been searching for! Briana was my nail tech super star and Leanna worked on my mom. We have been searching hopelessly throughout the AV fo a place that uses new disposable insturments and that actually steralizes the reusable ones. A place that actually does a full Mani pedi, pushes the cuticles back not just brush over them and actually trims away what isn't supposed to be there along with neatly applying the polish and cleaning up any residual. So absolutely happy and beyond satisfied with the surroundings and the attentiveness of the technicians. Finally we have found our new spot for nails! Read Less

My best friend & I came here super last minute on New Year's Eve. We totally did not expect to get squeezed in, since most nail salons are usually booked with appointments AND since it was a holiday weekend. The owner was really accommodating! He asked us to pick our colors & take a seat. I think we waited about 25min before we were seated. Zoey, I think, did my nails. She was super sweet & let me know she was gonna put in her earphones to get in her zone & try to finish quickly since she had an appointment soon. (Totally understandable!) she was quick & my nails came out perfect!!My friend had a trainee do her nails & she did take a little bit longer to finish, but it wasn't an issue & her nails came out just as pretty! While my friend was waiting for her nails to dry, the owner came up to us & thanked us for our patience?? Like, no sir! I was sent to a technician that was in the middle of someone's Gel manicure. She was removing my Gel and supposed to give me a new manicure. I sat there with acetone wrapped fingers for 30 min while she finished. I shouldn't have had to do that, my fingers felt horrible for 2 weeks after that. She had horrible customer service at that. Set a appointment for my daughter specifically for a gel set of $25 for the books and instead she got a manicure plus gel set which was $35. Why then have a book log of your specific request if they are not going to follow it. They changed their decision based on a confused teenager when asked, word. I told them I was her mom who was making her appointment. I feel taken advantaged off and there was no courtesy announcement of their card fee of a $1 which I know is not necessary to pass onto your customers. In addition when I called to talk to someone about it, the guy was totally rude. With that kind of service, might as well go to regular nail place, no class difference. Came here couple times now .. Hollie is the best ! So kind & my nails are always perfect !Today I had an appointment but my husband got called in to work. I had no choice but to take my 2 kids. It took my friend so she could help me with my younger one. As soon as my son sits on the couch, he lays down, (there was no one else sitting on any of the couches) & Sylvia immediately snaps, "take your feet off the couch!"The whole time after that she kept looking at my kids like she wanted them out . They were not being loud (Thank God) but I guess they just don't like kids . The last time I was here she was on the phone with the cable company, cursing at them, all while doing some lady's nails!! She had them on speaker !Carlos told him he couldn't put HIS HANDS on the couch cause he had been eating chips OUTSIDE . His hands had been cleaned !I expected much more from them .
