I decided to give this place a shot , it's across from my house and the nail place I've been going to has been a little disappointing . I decided to try eyelash extensions for her first time . Jennie was amazing , the service was fast and efficient . She was sweet and making an appointment was easy and the service was friendly . Jennie also did my eyebrows . Love this place! Derek is the best  !!I drive about 15 minutes give or take and well worth it! I get coffin nails, unicorn, ombre and gel. Derek impresses me every time! Let me just say that this place is amazing. It’s the perfect place to get everything done in one spot. I’ve gotten my hair done well fixed after a terrible dresser did it and she did so well in fixing it and was reasonably priced. I get my nails done here also, they also do an amazing job. I’ve also got my eyebrows and eyelashes done here. I’ve gotten my eyelashes done some where else and I took them off within two days because they were terrible and I could feel them. I love this place , they remember who you are and that’s what I call awesome customer service they definetly make you feel very welcome!! If you call and they don’t happen to answer they will call you back !!! Derick is the go to guy for my self and my daughters he’s awesome does a great job every time and everyone knows when you find a good nail tech you don’t want to loose them :) sometimes it’s hard to find someone who can get the shape and length right The only thing I will say is that I was In Right before Christmas and I’m pretty sure they raised their prices which is kind of a bummer. This place was amazing. I never do 'girly' things for myself and have only ever had acrylics one time couple months ago and where the lady was nice she didn't do a good job. I figured maybe all shops might be about the same but I was wrong! Simply Shear & Spa is awesome and was 10x better than the one I went too before. I got the Cat Eye Gel on my nails and although they had some trouble actually getting the cat eye in there with that magnet my nails still came out pretty. I got my first ever pedicure and I'm hooked, my feet have never looked this good! I also got my hair cut by Jenny (hope spelling is correct) and she was wonderful. Unfortunately today marks the last day I will come to this salon. Highly irritated right now. Marking it 3 stars is me being nice at the moment. I have been coming to this shop since January. This shop is located in Lakeside and I live in Mira Mesa. In the very beginning I absolutely LOVED coming here. The person who really had me coming to this shop was Christine. Love her. Told her she was stuck with me. As the weeks passed she slowly tried pawning me off to other workers in the shop. Although I was particular with her doing my nails I decided I would give the other workers a try. One visit I got Tam who was assisted by Lanie (I think that's how you spell her name). I was unsatisfied due to the design (crooked lines-they were not straight at all or even to the opposite nail) after that I was back with Christine. I've been doing eyelash extensions, full packaged manicure and pedicure since January. After a few more weeks she put me with Maggie. LOVE MAGGIE. LOVE HER. She is consistent with her work and awesome with her designs. I have ZERO problems with Maggie. She is a sweetheart and by far my favorite.Christine got a new girl doing eyelash extensions named Jenny. The first time I saw Jenny-it was great. She gave me long full eyelashes. I was charged 65. This last time I did the eyelash extensions-the same length and just as full as before-I was charged 85. 20 dollars more-which was a complete shock to me. As I have always paid 65 for a full set-even when my eyelashes were longer before and now suddenly I'm being charged 85. I questioned  why I was charged 85 versus 65 and Jenny said it's because the eyelashes were long. They were longer before and I was charged only 65. Do you see where I am going with this?So let's go with how my visit was today. I called at 4:30 pm and asked if Maggie had any availability. Unfortunately she was leaving early today. I talked to Christine on the phone and I told her I wanted a strawberry design on my ring finger. She passed me to Maggie who went on the phone and stated she was leaving early. I told her I could go to the shop I used to go to in Mira mesa. She said "come and let Nancy do your nails." I said "ok, why not" so I showed up at 4:45pm. I am appreciative that they were able to "squeeze" me in today. I'm leaving for a trip to Arizona tomorrow so I wanted to atleast have a manicure. I sat down and when I saw Nancy I asked her if I could get the manicure with "everything". Now I'm not sure if there was a language barrier with Nancy and I. She smiled and said "yes" and I said again "manicure w/everything" and she said "yes." Manicure with everything means the full packaged manicure. She takes off my previous gel and while she wraps my tips with acetone and foil starts putting lotion on my arms. It wasn't even a full on lotion massage. The tips were still wrapped so no lotion/massage for my fingertips. Nancy asked me "all nails red right?" And I said "yes, all but the ring finger. I want a design. A strawberry." So she said something to Christine and Maggie in Vietnamese and throughout the entire time she is doing my nails she is speaking Vietnamese. I can feel people out and during the whole time I can tell that Nancy is not comfortable with or wanting to do the strawberry design. Christine asks Jon (another nail tech) if he knew how to do a strawberry design and he just shook his head no. Nancy said "Maggie will help with design". When I first came to the shop I was told by Christine that it was company policy that when customers are present it's "English speaking only". There have been numerous times that I've been there that the nail techs are speaking Vietnamese. No big deal. I'm half Asian-I get it. My mom speaks in her native language. No problem. Previously I have never ever felt when they spoke Vietnamese that they were talking poorly about me or what I wanted. Today though, it was a different story. I felt like Nancy was complaining about having to do the strawberry design. I will attach a picture of the nail design and as you can see it doesn't look very complicated. When it got time to do the design she opened the green nail art paint and looked at my nail then looked at my phone where I had screenshotted the design from Pinterest. She started nervously chuckling. I was done. This was the straw that broke the camels back. Maggie and Christine CANNOT be the only ones in the entire shop that are  knowledgeable in nail art and design. After Nancy started nervously laughing I told her "it's ok. We don't have to do the design" and she was relieved and happy I finally said "no design." The gel manicure was 25. I tipped because that's the type of person I am. I tipped 5 bucks which is the lowest tip I have ever tipped someone at this shop. I'm not high maintenance even though it's a running joke that I am high maintenance or "boojie" at the shop. This place is a gem in the middle of lakeside. Went here today and got a full set done by Jon and he was absolutely amazing! He was super precise and took his time but also had me out in a very reasonable time. I got pink and white ombre coffin shaped and they are beyond perfect.  Jon says those are his favorite to do and I can see why!! Every one here is so caring and welcome you in many ways! They were even so kind to get me a water and open it for me while my nails were in the process of being done. Anyone who needs any type of salon service should drop by and give this place a chance! I am so happy to have found my all in one salon so close to my home. Just had an awesome mani/ pedi with John. The best massage. I am always relaxed after here. I started coming here for my hair cut with Maggie. It is close to the house and she is so so gentle. In preparation for my wedding I made appointments for 7 girls first thing on a Friday morning. They called to confirm the day before and even offered coffee and donuts. We arrive and everything was perfect. It was like a movie scene. I walked in today for a manicure for myself and to have my 2 year old daughters nails painted. Very very friendly and clean. Super modern. Christina took care of my daughter like she was her own. I liked the fact that Christina bounced around to make sure everyone was happy and we'll taken care of. Tracy, who did my nails, was very meticulous and thorough.
