I have been a customer of Twin Nails for a couple of years now, and I appreciate both the excellent customer service and the wonderful job they always do on my nails. All of the women who have helped me have been so friendly, and I like the idea of supporting a small business-- Jenny and Alan are the best!After being a customer for so long I thought it was time to finally write a review after a recent experience that exceeded my expectations. I recently had a gel manicure and pedicure, and decided to try sparkles as a top coat for a little change. Unfortunately, due to no fault of my manicurist, I didn't like the way it looked on my nails. I paid and then left the salon, not sure if I should say anything. Ultimately I decided to call back, and spoke to Alan. I let him know that I wasn't happy with the color and that I'd like to come back the next day to have it redone. I told him I would pay for it as it was not a reflection of their work. I came back the next day, spoke with Jenny, and after some discussion we agreed that she would redo the manicure. She offered to let me try the "dip"-- a new technique that I was curious about. She did an immaculate job, took her time, and I was so pleased with the result. But the surprising part was that she refused to let me pay for the service. That proved to me that my business is important to them, and that they take great pride in their work. I've been to this nail salon many times and it is just okay. They do a decent job, but never good enough for the nail polish to stick more than a week. But it is fairly cheap, the girls are friendly--and if I am being 100% honest--it is in walking distance of my husband's preferred sport clips.But after my last visit, I won't be back.Long story short, this is one of those places that always says they have time for you, but really just puts you in a chair (with cold water) and promptly leaves you there for 30 minutes until someone is free. Normally, that irritates me, but doesn't anger me. Today, they pushed me over the edge. Here's the story, I called and made an appointment; they called me back a few minutes later asking me to come in 30 minutes earlier. I said okay. I get there 5 minutes before the new appointment time. They have a full house, but put me in the chair and promptly forget about me. Now, normally this is just irritating, but now it is really frustrating--why did I come in 30 minutes early to just sit in a chair, with my feet in cold water, and not have anyone work on me? After 15 minutes, i just got up and left. When the owner realized he was losing my business, he shouted at the girls--and suddenly--it was my turn. But I know this place, they will work as quickly as possible and do a terrible job. It isn't worth the $60 (plus $10 in tips) for it. So, I walked out and won't come back. The quality isnt there. Despite the negative reviews I decided to give this place the benefit of the doubt. Well now my finger is infected and I had BOTH of the most recommended nail techs on yelp working on my mani pedi. I am so disappointed and disgusted. To each there own decision but from first hand experience I can say this isn't the cleanest establishment. I wanted to get a pedi/mani and stumbled upon this place while I was running my errands. I walked in and notice there were only 4 girls working and was greeted and then left at the front and not acknowledged. They told me to pick out a color and then sat me down in the car. The water was cold and they did not put the bubbles on. No one came over to me so I asked if I would have to wait awhile. They said no sit, sit. Then a man walked in all frazzled and ran over to me and asked if I wanted another girl to do my toes. I said that I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes so he said he would. He rushed through the whole time and did a less than average job. He was constantly stopping and helping other people that were walking in. Go see Kim! She is the best. I'm a hairstylist so I am constantly rough on my nails and hands. She makes my nails look fabulous every single time. I've never had one break or chip. I really like this place, I've tried different nail shops and nothing like this one, all the staff is really nice, doesn't matter how many people are waiting they take their time and make sure your nails get done right. I always get my full set with "Kim" She does and excellent job! Read Less

Not professional! He cut my thumb with rotary electric file. Day four and it still is painful. Will not return. Had a specific appointment with a person that did not take me until well after this man distorted my thumb. I went in for a pink and white gel/acrylic manicure and wasn't expecting anything great because the price was so reasonable compared to other places but boy was I surprised! My daughter and I were staying at a nearby hotel and were trying to pick a nail salon for a gel manicure and pedicure. There were several close by but we chose this one based on the reviews. We couldn't believe the service. Probably the best pedicure and fill I've had in years and the price was great. I would highly recommend this place. Staff was unbelievable. Believe the average Yelp rating on this one.  I've had better and I've had worse.  The women were all courteous.  The dude in the salon needs to smile more and be more friendly towards customers.  My 3 year old daughter cheerfully said hi to him and he just looked at her frowning and walked away.  I almost laughed!  One lady in a spa pedicure chair complained that the guy was constantly on the phone and not doing her nails.Pros:  clean, decent pricing, good parking, my kids enjoyed their manicures with a flower on one nail ($5 each kid).Cons: DID NOT CLEAN MY CUTICLES. The guy just cut/buffed my nails and applied the acrylic right on.  No snipping of my cuticles or hand massage.  $25 acrylic full set... this should all be included!  This is the first time I got a manicure where that cuticle scissor thing was not part of the process!  My nails look good now, but my cuticles are all dried and flaking. I've been here many times, never had an issue  and actually enjoyed coming here up until two weeks ago. One, I waited way too long even after having an appointment. Two, I had three different people working on my nails going back and forth. Three, my nails were uneven, bumpy and simply horrifying (I wish I had taken pictures but sadly didn't). Four, I called today explaining my situation and she sounded apologetic and said she would take care of me so ofcourse I gave them a second chance and it was a huge mistake. Although my nails look a lot better than they did before, they're still uneven and different lengths and not only that, they charged me full price for them to fix their mistake. I called in to check availability and the male salon manager or owner said they were able to get me in immediately. I let the manager know it was my first visit and was coming in because they had some good reviews on Yelp... he was friendly and offered directions, which was kind & helpful. He was correct and I was able to get in right away... awesome. My request was for a simple spa pedicure and a gel manicure,  simple enough. I wasn't in a rush either, so no need to take short cuts.He got right to work on my feet and a young woman came over a few minutes later to start my manicure. He was, like i said before, kind and friendly which I really appreciate, and he didn't push the up sells on me. However, my paint job was not very good. I'm looking at my toes now and there is paint on my skin and the paint at the cuticle line is all crooked. :( I mean, I could have done this paint job at home. Same story with my fingers. It took me a little bit to decide what color i wanted, but i picked one before the lady started painting, so it wasn't like she was waiting on me. Everything started off just fine, but about half way thru i realized her body language had changed, she was ignoring my comments on the color and she never asked if i liked it or any of the other typical questions during a manicure. It was bizarre. When she was done, she stood up without a word and went to sit at a different desk. No instruction to go wash my nails, never asked if i liked it, or anything... just up & she was done lol Anyway there was, again, paint all over my skin around my nails and the shape is different on each nail almost. I wasn't in the mood to complain, plus i had another appointment right after so i tipped 20%+ plus, we agreed on a total but then when i signed the receipt it was for $1 more. I asked why and he walked away. I either offended somebody unknowingly, or being a first timer they didn't know that I'm a decent tipper and loyal customer and they just went through the motions. I'll be cleaning up the job there did tonight when i get home. I don't expect perfection, just a decent job delivered with a warm smile. I am SO grateful and happy I came here today. After getting off of work around 1pm, I was looking to get my nails done. I usually go to Belage which is just two blocks away, however when I arrived it was a near 2 hour wait with 12 girls ahead of me and it was like 95 degrees in there. Annoyed, I looked at nail salons around me and found this place on Yelp. I called to check the wait time and the male owner answered very happily and said he would accommodate me within the next 15 minutes. I was a short 2 minute drive away and when I walked in the place was very clean and smelled fresh (unlike other places). I also found my nail technician, Mindy, in this place and almost screamed with excitement when I saw her. Service: 5 starsI feel like it is really hard to give a nail salon 4-5 stars because you're always waiting on false promises. There are so many salons in the area and usually the wait times are really long, however I'm giving it 5 stars because the owner was honest with me about the wait time and Mindy is simply the best at what she does. She is very gentle, can produce anything you want, and she does not waste time. She knows exactly what she is doing and my nails last way longer when I get them done by her. I have been to other salons in Irvine and Mission Viejo, however Mindy is the only one that I trust with my nails. I can show her a picture and she can imitate every small detail, which is amazing. Everyone in the salon was very welcoming and happy. They all said hello and were very polite.The price is also very reasonable for the area. I got a full set with gel and it was only $35!!! Places nowadays charge at least $30 for a full set without gel so I was very happy to find an honest place. I will definitely be seeing this place every 2 weeks from now on, no matter where I am. Uggggggh! I need a refund!!!   I've been here before and it was average. Today I came in on a mission. They were busy so after 40mins of waiting I got up to leave. I thought this was reasonable. The owner however chased me down and asked me to stay. Embarrassed, I did. 15mins later the girl came.   I tried to tell her I wanted the same color and she nodded and went on. After taking the color off she said "what color". Aaah! So I picked a color in about a minute because she made it clear that she was busy and I was wasting her time!   I choose a color and asked for one nail to be a different color. Immediately she asked for payment. I understand that some places do this but I'd been waiting for about an HOUR and has seen everyone pay after- HOW RUDE!!     So I paid she did two rush cotes and LEFT!!! She just left me there!!     The coats were uneven and mushy- my nails actually looked better BEFORE! WORST NAIL EXPERIENCE EVER!!  My nails are dent and blotchy and not fully covered AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!Never Again!!!!!! Read Less

I hate to leave a negative comment because they are so nice but save your money. The first time I went Mindy did a great job on my nails. The next couple of times they did a mediocre job. I noticed that if you are seated and they get walk-ins they do whatever it takes to rush you out. I understand they don't want to possibly lose a customer due to the wait time, but by rushing on me they've lost me as a customer. I was meeting a friend for dinner near Irvine Spectrum and came across this nail salon on Yelp.Alan, one of the owners, picked up the phone and was very friendly and accommodating. The nail salon is average size and fairly clean. They have between 4-5 employees. They were pretty busy during the afternoon hours with a steady stream of customers. They have a decent selection of nail brands and colors. I got a gel mani ($25) and regular pedi ($17) for $42 total. Only minus: it's a little pricer than I expected. $25 mani/pedi (anniversary special). My seat was by their back sink so I could watch carefully how the tools were handled. The pedi spas themselves are actually pretty clean, but I felt like they shortcut the sanitizing process for the tools. The manicurist finish the girl's toes (she was sitting next to me), brought the tools to the sink, rinsed them. He then put them in a jar of the blue sanitizing liquid, rustled them around for about 3 seconds, pulled them out and rinsed again. He then brought them over, put his same gloves on and started on my toes. I had to remind myself that at other places manicurists use their bare hands which can't be changed so him not changing gloves was okay, but I couldn't get past the yellow stains on the gloves (indicating they had been wet and reused too much). The male manicurist took his time and checked that I liked the shape of my nails which I appreciated. He had someone else polish my nails and she did it in such a hurry, they are sloppy with visible thin spots. They were very busy on a Friday afternoon and we were walk ins so we sat with our feet in the water for almost 30 minutes. They thanked us for waiting and were very nice. Won't be coming back. I love coming to Twins! I went to the same nail salon for almost 10 years but they're always swamped so I tried out Twins...yay! They're always extremely friendly and respectful. They listen to what I ask for and check in throughout the services to make sure I'm happy. The staff is great except for one girl who I just had a recent experience with who gossiped in Vietnamese to the woman doing my nails which I felt was awkward. The prices are extremely reasonable and I don't really have any complaints.Overall, They do great work for a great price and that's what I feel is most important. Read Less
