This is not a fancy place but Demi does excellent acrylics! I haven't had a set of nails in over 15 years because I never trusted they would look natural, the way I like them. I decided to give this place a try because they're close to home. Demi did such a good job. My nails look so natural (but way better than my real natural :D ) I recommended my sister see her to fix her nails she had done at a "high end" place where she had paid much more. I tried acrylic dip manicure for the first time, and it turned out beautiful.  I also had regular pedicure with hot stone massage, and the lady who performed it was very detail oriented and sweet. I came here after a beach trip wanting to get my nails done and had high expectations for this place because of the great reviews. My experience was pretty average and nothing special at all.I made an appointment for 5pm but came in around 4:30 instead to see if they would take me a little early. When I walked in, the place had 0 customers and all of the staff were asleep in the chairs and one was on a tablet with headphones on in one of the chairs. This was quite odd- and it took the woman on the tablet a second to notice me but when she did she woke everyone up and took care of me right away. I had two women working on me, one doing my toes and one on my hands. There was no TV or any music, and they didn't really chat or make any conversation with me so I just sort of sat in silence for like an hour which was also wierd.While I was there a customer came in (the only one for the whole hour- hour and a half that I was there btw) and said that she was back again because another nail had broken off. She had just gotten them done a few days ago but this was her second time coming back in 2 days with broken nails. That seemed like pretty bad quality if her nails kept breaking off like that.Overall the ladies did a good job, but the atmosphere was pretty strange and I kept feeling like they were talking about me in their language because everytime I would mention that the color was too light or something they would start laughing and talking in a language I didn't understand, which I have always found to be sort of rude. I visit this place earlier Today, just because it has 5 stars! The girls that work there are super nice, very sweet all of them!! 100 points in customer service. In regards to quality of work, Demi did an incredible work with my Gel Manicure, I love it!! However, my toes didn't have the same fortune. Ann was doing my toes. I think she has great hands and I didn't feel any pinch or anything. However, the form and the color were a very mediocre work! Doing mani and pedi at the same time is a little uncomfortable for customers since you have to handle the machine (if its gel) and be careful not to move the hands or feet too sudden, one can affect the other! In overall 4 stars for the pedicure part, but next time I'll be there to do all my job with Demi! $50 for a gel mani and regular pedi! FYI Read Less

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. My daughter and I had appointments last Sunday, me for a pedicure and she for gel nails and pedicure. At the last minute we had to change our appointment time and they couldn't have been more gracious. The salon is immaculate, the gals are well-groomed, professional and more importantly, they work quietly. So often in nail salons these days, the manicurists shout back and forth to each other the entire time and it's anything but relaxing. This was a dream experience. This is hands down the best pedicure I have ever had. We stopped in without an appointment, and couldn't have been treated more nicely. They took us immediately, and an hour and a half later, I was relaxed, well-massaged, and had beautifully painted toe nails. I was also de-calloused! I came in after breaking two nails at the beach and needed a fill and new polish. I was sat down instantly by Nina, and she fixed my nails easily and used the dip method which I thought was super cool! she was awesome, She took her time and was very attentive. Went to this salon for my birthday with my daughters (9 & 13). We were staying in Newport for a few days on vacation. Service was excellent. The techs and owner treated us like queens. I was also given a complimentary glass of champagne; such a nice treat. My youngest had a panda design that was a little difficult and kept smudging. The owner said to come back if it came off during our stay. It did and my other daughter's nails chipped as well. They fixed the nails, no questions asked, no charge. I've had my nails done by Lee, Lisa, Jessica and Nina--each are wonderful and each have a unique style but each experience was fantastic. Ive been to so many places and have never had such a positive experience-they are really are experts at nails, perfectionists and creative--they always seem to know what new color will work on each client. Got a gel mani here, $30 and it is lasting great! The staff is friendly and the salon is clean. They offered me champagne which was a nice touch. They also used those cut off gloves when using the drying light, never seen that before. I was a walk in and waited a bit so they suggested making an appointment which I may do next time. I always hang out at Laguna coffee supply company and I was in desperate need of a mani pedi so I stopped by next door to check the place out. I'm always wary of new nail places because I usually tend to have a bad experience. I decided to give it a try anyways. First off their prices are not that insane but they are more expensive than my usual nail place Laguna nails and spa. They charge about ten dollars more. Two girls were working on my hands and feet and they didn't speak English which isn't that big of deal, but it's just hard to tell them what you want when they can't understand you. Like I wanted them to do a better job at cleaning my cuticles but they couldn't understand what I was saying The places saving grace is Jessica, she's amazing! She runs the place like it's her own store, she checked in on the girls every 5 minutes and she fixed all the things she didn't think they did right, she also did an awesome Halloween design on my nails. I immediately fell in love with her because that's the way I am, I have a certain sense of loyalty for people that treat me right and in return, I do the same. After working there for over 10 solid years, she moved on to help a friend open another shop in Monarch Bay Plaza. Love this spot! The ladies at Star are so nice; they offered us water or champagne when we first got there.  My girlfriends and I got an amazing pedicure for only $22. The only reason I Gave it 4 stars is for the lack of color selection. But they were 5 on everything else. I'll be back here for sure. Read Less

My wife goes to Star Nails. She dragged me there one day and insisted I get a mani-pedi or whatever you call it. It was nice. My feet were all rough and cracked from wearing sandals. The lady worked on them and made them all nice and smooth.  I recommend you men out there come in with your wife or girlfriend and treat yourselves to a relaxing time in the chair.Definitely will be coming back with the wife. No better place for mani/pedi and waxing too!  Two licensed aestheticians for waxing on site.  Very clean, meticulous work and fun, casual atmosphere with beautiful view of the ocean and nice music as well. I'm very impressed with this nail salon. I've frequented this shop for a couple of months now. Holly is the best nail tech I've every had, and I've had my share.
