Tried this place today. The place I've been going to for years is in corona and I don't have the time to go there anymore since I have a new puppy I can't leave at home for too long. So thanks to Yelp and photos I found this place.First impressions: it's a hole in the wall, only 4 desks and 5 pedicure chairs. Needs some new paint and deco for sure. Was a little nervous after looking at it. They play boring tropical music, I get it... suits the name. My appointment was at 3 and I was sat immediately upon walking in which was pleasant. Betty did my pedicure and she did a great job! And she massages for so long :) she was done within 20 minutes of my appointment time which I like. Jody did my nails and she does a very good job. Didn't cut or knick me and she got the shape I wanted down! She was also very friendly and nice. The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because this place is so hot! I don't know if they don't have AC but I recommend going in the morning when it's cooler, I heard 3 people complaining about how hot it was. Other than that go ahead and give it a go. Found this place on yelp about 2 weeks ago when I was searching for a nail salon near my house to get nails done for a wedding. To be honest I wasn't that amazed with the way my nails turned out. I cant remember what the techs name was, but I asked for coffin nails with a rounded edges... it did not look like coffin nails and she did my nails too thick (see 1st pic). Fast forward, I needed a fill so I decided to give this place another try. This time Christine had helped me, and all I have to say is wow. She did an amazing job, reshaped my nails, and did them thin how I liked it without even having to tell her. She took her time and really paid attention to details. I asked for dark ombre nails, but she said to trust her that she had a better color in mind. I was hesitant but gave her the benefit of the doubt and she totally nailed it. (See 2nd pic) I just want to add that all the ladies in there are welcoming and nice, but its your typical salon where the ladies talk to eachother in vietnamese and giggles. This is the best place to go, staff is friendly and they take their time to give you great nails. I've been coming here for almost a year and they are amazing. Best advice is to call ahead to schedule an appointment because it does get booked all the time ( you'll know why once you try them), they do take walk ins but when it is supera booked then they do turn down walk ins. Every time I write a review for a nail shop, I curse it. So with that said, Tropical Nails, it was nice knowing you! Finding a decent nail shop that won't cost an arm and a leg has turned into a sport for me. As soon as I find one they either blow up and service declines or they switch ownership and get rid of my beloved technicians. Le sigh. Tropical nails has great service but I won't give them five stars because unless it's a Monday at a random time, it's hard to get an appointment. I know, I know, they advertised that they take walk-ins but good luck with that. They are not open on Sunday's so it's tough when you can't visit during the week. All negativity aside, they are top notch with nails. The first time I came in I wanted to try something new so I whipped out my phone to a Pinterest photo and the tech matched it to a T (color AND shape!) I was beyond amazed but more amazingly was the fact that it didn't cost me a million dollars. The pedicures are also good and you get to choose the level of service. I usually go with the middle option which gets,you get a very nice 10 minute massage that makes you melt right unto your seat. They also do a scrub and paraffin on the feet so you are left with silky smooth skin...a lot more bang for your buck than other places in my humble opinion. It is located on some rando strip mall in La Habra and while the shop is small, it's always nice and clean. There is ample parking and if you learned anything from this review, then please call before you go and please stay away so I can continue to go and not have to find another nail place. Thank you.
