HORRIBLE experience. I went for a pedicure and full set of nails. The pedicure lasted all of 10 minutes, no massage, barely any scrub and nails were cut crooked. Polish was applied around my nails as well as in them. NOT the relaxing pedicure one would expect. Then, the full set... one word... OUCH! They used too much glue and it ran under the nail tip to the tips of my fingers gluing my skin to the nail tip. When filing they burnt my nails and tried pulling the skin away making me bleed. Then sliced the nail file down the side of 3 nails also making me bleed more. Again cut them crooked and left rough edges. I had to run my fingers under cold water when i got home to ease the pain and take ibuprofen. Some of them are still glued to my skin. NEVER AGAIN will I go there! Read Less

I don't rate this place at all. But I I had to give them one star in order to continue. I went there after the new owner took over she said she charged me the same price as the old owner so I had my nails done she charged me the same price and then I went back two weeks later and she said I didn't charge me more and I told her what do you mean I paid exactly what you told me I'd have to pay because that's what I paid my old nail lady. Anyway long story short I told her well that's not right you told me a price I paid you and that should be it you can't charge me two weeks later for something that you should've charge me in the first place. So after she got done doing my nails she put that extra on my bill and I told her wait a minute that's not what I'm supposed be paying I said no I'm not that. So anyway customers came in got involved didn't know what was going on so I walked out yeah she got her extra . She was very rude unprofessional and I will never ever go back and I do not recommend this place at all it's unprofessional. Read Less

Best salon in Half Moon Bay! Kathy and her mom do a GrREAT job! The gel I get lasts fot over two weeks! She will even sell you matching polish to fill in when it grows out. They never leave you waiting while fitting someone else in and go back and forth! Once I saw a tired young mother trying to get her nails done with a baby crying. Kathy sang a Vietnamese lullaby and quieted the baby right down! I read the other reviews and cant believe someone would care if they use peanut packing for between the toes! Reuse recycle. I have been coming there for 2 years when Ann use to work there, always got great treatment, very attentive work. They use to soak my hands in warm water, get a nice hand massage and when all finished a warm/hot towel with oils. Loved it! The gel lasted. I came here once after Ann was gone 2 weeks ago. It's was busy and service was bit different.. No massage but it was still good. Left happy. I came back again, no one here and I didnt even get a change to pick a color before the women working wanted to soak my hands on cold water for maybe 30 seconds before working on them and it was painful! I got gel done and it took maybe 10 minutes. Didn't even take time to shape my nails all the same. Worst experience I have EVER got at any nail salon. On a last minute weekend getaway with my beau when I realized that my bright and gaudy toenail polish was chipped. Knowing this would irk me for the next two days so I couldn't possibly wait to go to my darling manicurist in Campbell, my knight in shining armor spotted Fancy Nails from the window of the place we were having lunch. Way to go, eagle eyes! Anyway, walked into the salon and noticed it's very small. Two pedicure chairs and two or possibly three manicure tables and that's the end of it. No bother, one of the pedicures was wrapping up so my wait was less than three or four minutes. Not too shabby for no appointment. Their color selection was really small but I found what I wanted right away. My pedicure was under way quickly, and over as quickly as it started it seems. Between the filing the callous removal and the general toe prep that happens before the polish is applied maybe only 15 minutes elapsed. Ok, not the most thorough pedicure but whatever. Then the lotion. The massage. The part that makes paying someone else to do your feet worth it. Oh how let down I was when after 2 minutes (or less, literally) it was over. The lotion was not even rubbed in when she stopped. What a bummer :( This is the part where things got a little weird. When it came time to separate the toes for polishing my nail tech pulled out a box of packing peanuts. Yes, actual packing peanuts. Plus one star for innovation, minus one star because she never told me where she was planning to ship me off to. All in all my toes look fine and this place was okay in a pinch. I've been going here for a while now and I'm not usually one for writing reviews but I feel that I have to write one for this place. I am just amazed at their attention to detail. Recently I had decided to take off my fake nails and I was expecting to have them ripped off(that's what happened at other places I've been to). They took the time and soaked them off. It took longer and they had to file some of the acrylic off and then have me soak some more and do that all over again, but it was definitely nicer to my nails and it did not hurt!!! I went a few times and it was great!  Then a young man did my manicure/pedicure and I noticed what I thought was his fingernail that had been slammed in a door....turns out he had a FUNGUS and I GOT IT.  No proof, of course, but I went to the doctor and she put me on a heavy Lamisil and vinegar regimen to get rid of the fungus.  Too Bad. Hey, what's with all the bad reviews? I came here randomly on a Friday afternoon. Fancy Nail is a tiny and clean little shop owned by the estheticians which I love! Yay for small businesses. :) They have a nice selection of OPI, Essie and China Glaze which is very convenient for picky girls like me. The lady was very thorough and painted my nails to perfection! She even complimented me on my hands and nails! :) Okay, so it hasn't been a week and my nails are already chipping but they do a decent job for 8 bucks. Read Less

Fancy Nail is a tiny shop, but not a bad place for a pedicure.  They only have two spa pedi chairs and about three tables for working on hands.The shop is clean, and the women working here are nice.  Prices are decent.  I wouldn't say this is the best spot on the coast for a pedicure (to be fair, maybe there just ISN'T one here that's very good), but it's good enough.  It's been about two weeks since I had my nails done and the polish hasn't chipped yet! been there twice both within 4 months of each other. first visit was ok, opi polish lasted 1 week but they took so long for just a manicure. this time i needed a mani pedi. lady got way deep in my big toe and it was starting to hurt. got gel on my fingers and the uv light get popping off and she let me sit there, after telling her several times i finally gave up and the male manager came over and plugged it back in. inside uv macihine  i could see fingerprints hat werent mine. chairs looked old and most of my massage arms on the chair didnt work. feet were done very nicely, looks good. fingers still had hanging cuticle and scuff polish marks remained on my pinky even after she cleaned the other fingers. paid $45 for gel uv and pedi, cash only, and for that price i should have gotten better quality and detail. thats a tank of gas! also since my light wasnt working most of the time, i was in the chair just for my nail over 45 min! b-s. It's true that the mani/pedi is not as good as a spa mani/pedi, but I think they do a good job.  I've been there many times over the years, and it's a nice family business.  After just a few times visiting, Ann (the owner) knew my name, and she remembers details about things you've told her.  They're very quick, clean, and the price is good.  If you say you're in a hurry, they'll get your mani and pedi done simultaneously.  Frequently I mess up the polish while it's drying, and they come to the rescue every time and fix it immediately.  I believe the sign says "please pay tips separately", but I don't remember it being cash only.  Maybe it's implied.  But I can see how they would like it separate.  Frequently, one girl will do your toes, and another one you hands, so it makes sense that they might like to be tipped individually and not pool their tips (I mean seriously...if I had to deal with people's ugly feet instead of their hands, I would expect a bigger tip!)  Anyway, I wouldn't call it "shady".I wish they would spend more time treating the rough spots on my feet, but maybe since I have to grit my teeth to not jerk my feet from the tickle response, they take it easy on me :)Anyway, I just happened upon these reviews because I was searching to find their hours so I can pop in and get a quick mani/pedi.  I feel like these reviews are a little harsh, so I wanted to quickly  write something on their behalf.  Now...I better call to see if Ann can squeeze me in (they usually do!) Absolute worse service I've ever received. Yes, they are cheap...only $8 for my mani but I should have paid the $90 at the Ritz Carlton down the street. The nail technitian was cutting the cuticles of the customer next to me and since there was not enough employees she left that lady and starting cutting my cuticles with the same tool! The ladies (sisters) here are very nice, but after 2 visits I will not go back. My mani/pedi didn't even last a day before I saw chips and peeling. At $25, it's a bargain, but you get what you pay for. I'd rather pay an extra $5-$10 and get a quality job that lasts more than 24 hours. Read Less
