I came in as a walk-in customer hoping to take some length off my long, very damaged hair, and get a cute layered cut. I don't get my hair cut that often or I have stylist friends cut it, so this was a big thing for me.The first stylist they set me up with did a meh job.Normally, I would just leave a negative review but I ended up being really pleased with their customer service and the second stylist's cut correction.I initially told the first stylist I wanted a modern looking messy textured bob, with long layers and razored ends, and she cut it almost all one length, the cut line was weird and uneven (not on purpose), the layers themselves were blended poorly. The end result didn't frame my face or fall right, plus the razoring that was done did nothing to eliminate the heaviness of my hair or the damaged ends. Plus She did the razoring on dry hair instead of wet hair, leaving full and frizzy chunks behind and a weird cowlick instead of sleek and tapered fringe.Everyone has an off day, or a customer whose hair they don't understand, plus I'm owning that some of it was poor communication on my end...So I gave the salon a chance to correct the situation.The manager called me back within the day and was apologetic and super nice and immediately set me up with a different stylist, their resident razoring expert, Maritza. My experience with Maritza was amazing! She listened to my needs, and intuitively knew just what to do even when I couldn't articulate it perfectly. She went right to work. She is a pro with that razor. I sat there feeling like I was being worked on by Edward scissorhands. After a flurry of expert snips, I ended up with a stunning layered bob, that frames my face beautifully and feels healthy.Despite the disappointing first visit, this really is one of the better JCP salons I've ever been to. They  have great customer service, and really some really talented people here. Wow - so happy with my new hair color & cut. As a new mom I decided today at 5am (after seeing myself in the mirror) I needed some major hair TLC. I googled and found JC Penny hair salon offered appointments online and blindly booked with Jannette. Best decision ever! She is kind, focused and did an amazing job. I was travelling to Glendale and knew that my mother had gone to this salon 4 years ago and had loved the experience.  I was short on time and was visiting many people so it was a bit hectic but the person on the phone was very helpful with scheduling an color correction as well as a quick consultation before to get a price estimate.  Maritza Elijah was quick to understand what I wanted from the picture, see that my hair was very damaged (though it was pretty obvious) and understand my concern about not wanting to cut too short so my face wasn't framed but also wanting a new cut.  She told me how she was going to blend my layers etc and the cost for the cut, conditioning, gloss, color and bleach on a piece of paper for me.  On the day of, I was anxious (I'm kinda a mess when it comes to hair appointments because I know they will be long and talking to someone through the whole color correction of 3 hours can be scary for an introvert like me) but I imagine she sensed that via my awkward silence.  She still did all of my very thick hair - thinned out my choppy ends, every layer bleached and then certain placement for low lights - and she put conditioner on the blonde parts, before a toning and then doing a blowdry and flat iron styling.  The whole appointment lasted about 4 hours and she was patient for most of the time - towards the last hour or so I loosened up a bit spoke a bit more - she went over the pricing again, and told me the usual of using blue shampoo etc - and to not bleach after this xD the color turned out more blonde than I expected is the only thing - luckily I ended up liking it by the end of my appointment - I would just say to make sure to be specific in what you want and speak up if you don't like the color etc - she was very kind and I think would have listened had I asked if there was a way to darken it up - but that could also apply to many hair stylists. very unhappy customer! i scheduled an appointment online at 5pm for a Saturday. someone call me back and asked if i wouldn't mine moving my appointment to 6:30pm which i agreed on. I show up at 6:30 and was told my the stylist KATRINA, she was a little behind, if i can wait like 20min. ok.... sure i was being very patient as i walked around JC penny. so i come back 20min shes still not done.... she doesn't help me until 8pm!!!! i didn't finish my hair appointment until 1030 almost 1045, and she messed up my hair. i was going for a red color and i had a patch of pink/violet...... very disappointed  with my overall services and look. she did ask me if i can go back for another gloss since it was past closing.... but I'm not sure i want to go thru that experience again!! I came in for a quick trim and I requested Jannette based on past reviews. I was in and out in less than an hour and the price was certainly reasonable. $40 for a cut and blow-dry - how can you beat that? She did a good job and I'm happy I've found this place. Right in heart of galleria. Always is busy and shopper are making a big mass. But surprisingly the employees are super Nice and patinas. Gayane was the one who help us and suggest my mom the  open a Jcpenney card.With the saving my mom end up changing my dad whole wardrobe .    Even she went out of her way and run upstairs and downstairs twice yo make sure we got the right size and our favorite color.Thank you Gayane. Anahid always does my hair, from dying it, to cutting it, Anahid manages to make my hair the most attracting ever. Always look for Anahid as she is a Master stylist she won't do you bad, and always takes her time with each customer. This salon is absolutely remarkable, the atmosphere is great and all the stylist are too, though if your looking for a hairstyle that's everyone's gonna glare at you, go to anahid, p.s she has the greatest opinion on colors that fit your look. I have always had a personal stylist. I would've never thought of going to JC PENNY's or a MALL!!, to get my hair done. But my stylist was on a vacation she didn't refer me to anybody and I had no choice and I looked up JC PENNY's and was afraid they wouldn't be able to do black hair but the one in Glendale has a wonderful stylist !! yes she is black!! her name is ROCKY she's been there for 10 years she's bubbly beautiful and fantastic!!! I always look gorgeous when I leave there and have such a good time which I think you should have while getting your hair done you want to be pampered and just feel good and ROCKY will make you feel that way and look that way!!! GO ROCKY!! She is also very patient..... LOL Which at test because I don't do anything to my hair and I always have a bunch of questions for her! but I love her she's great!! and she answers all my hair care and Style questions. Read Less

First, I need to say, I am very sad JC Penny is shutting down many of their stores.  I've been a fan of JC Penny since 1992 and I heard Duncan Pinderhughes give it a shout out in the hit Kid 'N Play film, "Class Act".  There's really nothing you can't find at JC Penny.  I wear Levi's 505 and they are 50% cheaper than the same pair of jeans at Macy's down the street.  I'm no sucker and no a great deal when I see one, plus Macy's are known racists.All that being said, I understand why they are closing their stores and this is store in Glendale is why.  From top to bottom, this is the worst JC Penny in America.  They are unorganized, dirty and have the most incompetent staff members of any JC Penny I've ever stepped foot in... and I've probably been in over 113 JC Penny's.  They seem to staff an adequate amount of employees, however none of them work.  Most of them sit around the registers and eat the Godiva chocolates near the registers while the line gets longer and longer.  I don't know how much money JC Penny is losing on their impulse chocolate purchases, but I'd imagine they are losing hundreds in employee theft and eating on the clock.  This also explains why the majority of their employees are borderline obese.  Way too much chocolate eating and not enough walking around the store picking up clothes people leave in the wrong section.  The one thing I will miss most about this JC Penny, however, is how easy it is to shoplift.  In 2017 alone, I probably shoplifted over $67 worth of merch.  $87, if you count the bow tie I stole on new years eve, but that was technically 2016. October 12, 2016 2:00 pmI don't know...this used to be a go to place to shop, but the buyer this season really missed the mark!  Not liking any of the women's or men's styles. Had my free $10 coupon to spend and after bombing out on the shoe department, women's, men's, kids clothing and accessory department,I ended up picking out a couple of pre packaged Disney figurine sets for my granddaughter. They had one register open upstairs and a line 6 deep with one cashier. Sigh. While we were waiting, we rummaged through the clearance items that were lined down the walkway where the line sat. Just a bunch of overpriced junk, half used, or broken, or missing pieces.  Some of which we just past time with joking around. Finally I get to the register. She runs me up. Takes off my coupon. Then proceeds to tell me they no longer accept returns on any Disney items. Really?  It's all fine,I don't plan on returning, but why??  Why Disney?  I just wanted to spend my free money. But the fact it took me over an hour to find something that I didn't feel like I was being ripped off was hardly worth the time. The store had piles and piles of clearance items. Nothing was folded. It was mid week. It just looked bad. I'm sure there are people who will rifle through piles, but $22 for a sale t-shirt, that I won't do!Overall just a bummer. I've seen this place better. Wow!!! My review is more like advice to all the ladies, DO NOT GO TO THEIR 3rd FLOOR RESTROOM. I think that's the only female restroom they have... It's the dirtiest & stinkiest I had ever witnessed. It is the pure essence of pee in there! The stains & filth on the walls is unacceptable. Make things worst, I saw an employee in there just "spot sweeping" with a tiny broom. She walked into a toilet room & just walked out. I assumed she walked out cause it was clean so I walk in there, it was filthy! She didnt even try to sweep the toilet paper off the floor!! She patiently explained what she was going to do to my hair after I showed her pictures of more or less what I wanted, and she helped me decide on the perfect hair color for me. She gave suggestions and explained in a kind manner if something or a certain color wouldn't work for me. Been going here since last year, and I always request for Mina to do my hair. She does an amazing job and she is the best!!She is a master colorist and colors my hair the perfect shade of blonde every time. It took me months to find the perfect salon for me, especially for blonde hair. I had ok or bad experiences in the past with other salons or tried doing it myself, but it always ended up looking brassy and orange. Since Mina is so passionate about hair and color I feel at ease and I can totally trust her.  And I always receive many compliments after I get my hair done by her. Ask for Mina!! Read Less

Don't do any coupon deals with them! I got the deal for cut and color and apparently they give the stylist with the least experience! First of all my hair dresser was an older Hispanic lady whom I could hardly understand. First she puts the color on my hair and while its sitting she starts curling another clients hair and she goes to wash mine out and asks me if I want a deep conditioner to which I decline but she's does it anyway but i "need it" and charged me for it all while that's sitting she goes back to doing this other lady's hair. Then after she starts blowing drying my hair and asks me if I want it straightened to which i remind her she's suppose to cut it..she didn't know. I tell her I want a long bob and show her a picture. She takes my bottlon layer and cuts it and then ask me if I want it that short which I didn't..it was SO short. So then She cuts the rest not that short then straightened it which I didn't ask for and she chargers me for. I basically run out at this point because I have been there for 4 hours and I'm 6 months pregnant and starving. Get home and one side of my hair is shorter than the other and its awful. Read Less

I had a great service by Irma, I was stressed and really enjoyed my visit. However, the only thing that killed my vibe was this other hair stylist who pushed my stylist out of the way to sweep up hair, then she took the broom and swept over my feet twice. I was so MAD, I said you need to wait until she's done with my service, you don't have to do this now. And she argued and said she did, that was so RUDE!! I complained to the front desk, salons are places for patrons to come and relax and be pampered, not have some obnoxious person who's unhappy with life come and push people around and be rude to clients! Poor customer service!I called to make an appointment to get my son's hair cut they said just come in it's walk in basis. I got there in 10 minutes the receptionist said we can't do it today. The hair specialists are standing there but she said there is no one available. This was at 7 o'clock and they close at 9 but she still wouldn't take him. Can you believe that? Not only was it raining that day, I left my 4 month old baby to go get my son's hair cut and they refused to do it.  Lady standing there had no sympathy-it looked like she wanted to pass the time with no interruptions. He is only 5 years old and doesn't require more than 10 minutes of their time. As a result they lost me and my husband as a customer. I will not go there again. The hair cuts are reasonable in price and the specialists do a fair job but their customer service needs  improvement. Read Less

The salon looks great after the renovations. Maritza is  a wonderful stylist. She is extremely nice, speaks English and Spanish. She does a great job. The only down side to the salon is that they charge you an extra $10 to flat iron your hair. You should be able to have a choice if you want it with the blow dryer or with the flat iron for the same price. Plus the blow dryers work sooo good that it has burned my hair a bit. Next time I will tell them to take it easy on the heat just for precaution my hair is already damaged as it is. But the stylist seem great. Read Less

My mom has been visiting this salon for a while and one of their stylist  (Arev ) was a decent stylist. Yet, here is the catch - this stylist can do haircut ONLY on dry and flat ironed hair! If it wet and or not straightened up - she CANNOT do a haircut, she will mess you hair up. Seems not to be a big deal, she'd straiten your hair and do a decent job on haircut. On my mom's last visit, she announced that she will have to charge extra 10$ for straightening. Not only the salon itself raised their prices for the past 1 year over 70% but also this stylist specifically is charging extra 10. Long story short, my mom wanted JUST a haircut which she did withought straitening her hair w flat iron and she MESSED it UP. We'll never be back to that salon.Bottom line if you want Arev to do a decent haircut it's $42(including straitening) if you want her to do a horrible haircut $32! Read Less

I originally came to JCP Salon 8 years ago and asked them how was the best stylist. I care about my hair a lot and I can't let just anyone touch my head... I also shop quality over price when it comes to hair color and cuts because I got burned before with hair dressers that don't know what they are doing! long story short I went with Anahit and I could never leave! She knows both coloring and cutting like no one else I ever met. Over the years I have been blond, brunet, red, and in-between and I was always leaving the salon feeling great and looking amazing! She was able to get my hair blond again after dark brown without damaging my hair (it was a process and we did it in several sessions) but during the transition I looked great and I can't thank her more.Cut is another big one for me. I had long hair and wanted to change it up. She was the only person who could do Razor cut. If your hair are very fine like mine and you want a short and cute cut: WOW people try her razor cut.One last thing I always appreciate is that she is always honest with me. Couple times I wanted to do something crazy with my hair and she talked me out of it. Ask for Mina she is passionate about what she does and the results and treatment is superb. So if you want someone who is perfect...ask for mina you will be happy and be back. Only problem I had was making an appointment.  When I called the lady on the phone was sooo rude and unprofessional. I've been going to JC Penny hair salon for years now. My stylist is Arevik and I absolutely love her!!! For the past year, I have been doing different shades of red/copper, and I love that when the color fades, it looks like I've died it a lighter color of the original color I had. Simply, she is talented and I don't trust anyone else but her. She always advises me on how a certain style will look good or not. I love the massage she gives when she washes my hair. I've gotten my hair done (usually highlights and haircuts) from various stylists (from various levels) here and they've all turned out well. But I give a personal 5 stars to Roozan for highlights.  I've tried cheaping out and/or finding someone closer to me 3 times (so 3 different stylists) and going to different salons but when I want my hair on point--I always return to Roozan.  And I'm at the point where I'm just gonna keep going back to her.  I'm tired of experimenting and hoping to find a replacement for her.  It's better for me to just stick with her; even if getting to her is a far drive for me.Why do I love Roozan?  I'm not very articulate with what I want, remember:  light brown to me may mean a different shade of light brown to someone else--I just know I want it to look good.  So when I run an idea through her, she'll give me her honest feedback.  The one time I was stubborn and wanted my highlights a certain way (against her recommendation) I didn't love the outcome.  But I couldn't blame her because she warned me it would be too light for my skin tone.  Other times when I want to go crazy with my hair and change the color drastically, she'll give me things to consider so I usually end up following her advice and not being too mean to my hair.  So now... I just trust her.  I give her an idea of what I want or which occasion I want to look good for and she goes from there.My type of highlights:  I usually prefer discrete highlights, but I like to go light--so she's able to match the base color with bright highlights.  This helps keep it professional (so a little more natural looking) because I work in an office setting but I party hard on the weekends so I also need it to look fun on the weekends.  She places the highlights well. I was referred by a friend, so I was given the option of a free blow dry or deep conditioning. I was lucky enough to get both! My hair feels so soft and bouncy. Erevik was the hair dresser I was referred to and I totally recommend her. Trust me, I'm super loyal to my hair dresser but I needed a cheaper haircut. It was $32 and I felt like I got the service I receive when I pay $60+. The salon was pretty clean but doesn't look fancy at all. I just got my hair cut & colored yesterday, and I have to say that my experience is pleasant every time. I have been going there for years now, to see my stylist Heide, and have been very happy with every single outcome. She knows exactly what to do to make me look & feel amazing. She takes good care of me, my mom and my kids. The prices are reasonable & atmosphere is fun. Great experience I just had to write about! Went in to the salon after a referral from a friend.  My stylist was Irene and she was fantastic.  I had been in once before to have my hair done by her and returned to have my children's hair done as well.  It has always been a battle to get my kids to a salon with someone they are comfortable with & let me tell you Irene was great!
