The place was nice, service was great. However, buying extra products that I did not need or want was something I was not expecting. I think it was the owner or someone who approached me as I was getting my nails done and proceeded to tell me how dry my skin was and that I try their cream. She insisted on showing me a demo after my nails were done and then pushed the font card on me to buy the product because it's for a good cause. I'm not interested. I dislike underhanded schemes of such sort and would much appreciate to just get the service that I went there for. If I'm feeling charitable I do research and make appropriate donations not having to be guilted to buy products I don't want or need. I hate to say it but I will never EVER be coming here again. This is the second time I've been here, the first time I didn't have an appointment and it was pack and I left but this time I made an appointment ahead of time and was seated quickly. I had the best experience here at Luxor and now I know why appointments are necessary! The nail technicians were so sweet, kind, friendly, and gentle. They do a great job and they take their time. I've been to Luxor Nails and Spa three times now. Each time was a little different, but I will no longer be going back there.The first time, Mai helped me. She gave me a mani and pedi, and she did absolutely amazing. She was kind, talkative, careful, and attentive. I was very satisfied when I left, and I started recommending them to people.The second time, I requested Mai again, though I brought two other people with me. Anna helped both of them in the time frame that Mai helped me. Clearly, Anna rushed it and did not take her time. By the end of it, the two friends I brought in were not satisfied with Anna's lack of attention and quality, nor with their nails. Both of their nails (one acrylic, one dip-powder) started lifting and coming off after one week. My nails that Mai did for me this time around lasted four weeks before they started lifting. Also, when Mai took off my previous nails, she carefully filed them down and soaked them individually in foil paper. Mai did amazing once again, but Anna did not. For the prices my friends paid, they should've received better customer service and attention. Also, there was a girl (she's the only one that is in heels and constantly talks on her phone), who was literally just sitting there doing absolutely nothing while both of my friends were waiting. They waited for over 20 minutes before they were helped when that girl was just at her station on her phone (which is what she did the entire two hours we were there). However, I tried to give Luxor Nails and Spa the benefit of the doubt.The third time, I knew for a fact that I was not going to return to this nail salon. EVER. I went in and asked to get my nails taken off. Mai, the older woman that I adore, was helping another customer. This time, it took 10 minutes before the girl that is always on her phone (mentioned above) came to get me. She said she would help me, which shocked me. I learned that her name was Kathy. Anyway, Kathy tried taking a fake nail and sliding it under my dip-powder nails to take it off. It was hurting me, and I told her that I would rather have her soak it the way Mai did last time. She told me, "No, that way takes too long. This way is faster." I told her that it didn't matter how much longer it would take or how much more it would cost. I just wanted her to nicely soak my nails until she could just file them off. I also voiced that I didn't want my real nails to be ruined since they are so strong and long. She said, "Okay, okay," then proceeded to try to take them off the same way. I had to pull my hands from her and tell her again that I wanted my nails to be soaked. She was clearly irritated and finally agreed. She cut down all of my real nails (which I clearly told her not to do). Now they are all stubs. Also, she didn't soak my nails individually. She gave me a bowl to put my hands in, then she used the acetone bottle to fill up the bowl and soak my nails. However, she squeezed the acetone bottle so hard that the ACETONE SPLASHED AND GOT ON MY FACE, CHEST, AND ARMS. I was very upset. Once she took my hands out of the acetone, they were incredibly dry, and she still just pulled them off rather than filing them off. My fingers/nails are now in pain, and I am very upset. I was extremely dissatisfied with the service I got. Kathy is very lazy, and I won't ever recommend her or Luxor Nails and Spa again. Honestly, the worst person/thing there is Kathy. I tried so hard to like this place, but I just can't. The ladies are really nice here and the place is always very clean. But every time I leave I have at least two nails that are filed crooked, and cuts on my cuticles. And they always end up lifting a couple days after I get them done. I wanted to try a new place because my regular nail tech is on vacation and I know this place has been here for a long time.The wait wasn't bad for a Saturday and me waking in without an appointment. The salon is clean and has a tv in the center of their wall for everyone to enjoy. My regular salon has two tvs, but they're posted up in two hard to see locations.They have a pedicure menu for you to see the services and products they use. Don't let the service list at the front deceive you. They use the Epoch product line. And they're very good at recommending products they feel you can benefit from using. I had a gel pedicure replacing a gel pedicure and Mai was stuck in tending to my nails. She did lightly massage my legs at that point. Their chairs massage your back as well as the sides and back of your thighs. Mai had an appointment to tend to, so I Khanh finished my service. She gave me a massage with warm stones topped my legs with a warm towel. I didn't think there'd be more massaging, but there was. She massaged my legs more with a balm then focused on my soles and held with their Sole Solution.I don't like looking for substitutes since most tend to cut the corners of my toes. Mai was careful and trimmed my toes gingerly. I might cheat on my regular tech a few times a year.Expect to pay spa pedicure prices. They're well worth it here. Come here to try a new place or if your down their way on Shaw and Maroa. Jack, just come check them out. I first had it in mind to get a quick and cheap mani/pedi but upon reading the reviews for this place, I changed my mind. I was sold on the compliments of service and quality. In retrospect, I'd say luxor salon mildly lives up to the exaggerations of other reviews. Can I be honest? I paid $71 including tip for a very BASIC gel manicure and pedicure. If I was to compare the service here to the highest I previously paid somewhere else ($55), I would say I got more for my money elsewhere. Not to say the skill and effort wasn't good. It was. There were small annoyances that sort of made it harder for me to escape my reality. Which, is what women want at the spa/salon. I was awkwardly being sold by the technician to buy some foot scrub that was over priced. I mean, she brought the scrub with me wherever I went and told everyone I was going to buy it when I never committed to do that. So I've been here a couple times to get my nails done when I can't get in to Nail Glamour, which can have up to a 3 hour wait. I came in the first time for a fill, Anna did most of the work and I left very happy. 2nd visit, not so much. I called around 1pm for an appt and they put me and my step daughter down for 5pm. I arrive on time and all the chairs are full and no one else is in the waiting area but me and my step daughter. I let the girl up front know we have appts at 5. They call my step daughter back to start her manicure and at this time 2 more women walk into the shop. Anna finishes with her client and calls the girl who walked in AFTER ME to sit down then feels the need to ask if I had an appt. Why would u ask me AFTER THE FACT? Its 5:25 by this point. I tell her my appt was at 5 and that I kinda wanted the both of us done at the same time. I get the older lady and I totally regret it. I could have probably got a better set at the beauty college that I GRADUATED from. Sloppy sloppy sloppy and afraid of nail art. She couldn't even do a simple thin line on my ring finger. If your going to advertise nail art as a specialty you should probably make sure all your employees are on point with that. After I explained I have a cosmetology license yada yada yada then all of a sudden she could do what I was asking for. Huh?! I came in with coffin shape and left with square inconsistent bumpy nails and she didn't even file my natural nail underneath flush with the nail tip so there was a "step" and let's not talk about my gel top coat running to the back of my nail . I will not be back but I did give 2 stars because Anna is great just not happy with the service at all from the older lady and unfortunately it will most likely always be like that! Read Less

After reading all the great reviews and viewing photos of their work I figured this would be a great place to try. The service was great-very friendly and we were in and out fairly quickly. However I was not happy with my nails. The shape could have been much nicer and she really didn't clean up my cuticles.. she did say I have a lot of extra skin there and I told her yes I know I haven't done my nails in a long time. I expected her to clean them up more like previous nail techs have.. I just told her now that I have my nails done I can work on that. My stepdaughter also got a manicure with regular polish and it's already chipping after 2 days.. possibly because it's so thick, the polish on her thumb is thick and bumpy. I would possibly still go here for a pedicure however I will not be going back for acrylics. Read Less

I have always been skeptical about trying new salons (especially since I have gone to people I know for nails). I had every intention of waiting an extra day and getting my nails done on my way home from my work trip in Fresno. But stuff came up and the nails had to be done today. I yelped and this place was the closest to my work site, so I stopped in and they took me and seated me within a few minutes of being there. I said I wanted a fill, but I needed them to be cut as short as possible so I actually needed a back fill. I think I had Ann, who was gracious enough to do the back fill even though she had a client at just over an hour after I got there. Long story short, she did the length I asked without hesitation (even when I asked for the wrong service) and did a wonderful job on my nails and all in time for her next client. My cousin and I called ahead of time to see if they were available for 2 pedicures. They took us in last minute. We were pleased with how polite the staff were. They all greeted us with either a smile or a combination of a smile with a hello. That alone speaks 5 stars for me!Upon sitting on the chair, the staff took their time on our pedicures. They were gentle and treated our lower extremities like they were tender, delicate parts. Although the menu was $35 for gel nails and the lady charged me $40, I didn't mind because I was happy with my pedicure. They prefer cash and will charge $1.00 for credit or debit card use. Great service and attention to detail. I have been here at least 5x before this review and not encountered an issue with Luxor. They've accommodated me being in a rush and they've given me plenty of time when I have time on my hands as well. If there was a mistake made on a nail they have fixed it without me saying anything. Long over due review: I don't even know how long it's been but my husband brought me here and we WERE suppose to get a couples pedi but he backed out and watched me get my nails done and toes vamped. Came here had an appt but we were running a tad bit late but they still took me. It's quite tiny bit very clean and refreshing. All the employees greeted each and all individuals that enter/exit their establishment. Owner Ana is too sweet! But all her workers are sweet also! Husband was offered a swivel chair, love this man to death because he sat and waited patiently for almost 1.5 hours! Friendly, clean, and high quality products. I have struggled to find a quality nail salon, with good skills and customer service...I found it with Luxor! They have a variety of magazines, nice pedicure chairs, great color selection for both gel and regular. You can tell they have a lot of regulars, so that's a good sign. I took my mom in there to get her nails filled and She was unhappy with them from the moment we walked out. The acrylic was super thick and over her cuticals. They even lifted after a few days which caused fungi to grow on her nails. We wont be going back. Read Less
