I've been coming here for a bit now, but I've finally decided to write a review after my last manicure. I had a gel manicure done by Kathy back on May 27th, shortly before I flew out to spend June in Europe. I figured I'd get them redone somewhere over there, but the manicure just...stayed. Perfectly. It's July 3rd when I write this, so into my sixth week of this manicure, and my nails are FLAWLESS. Grown out as hell, yes, but there isn't a single chip or worn spot or anything. This manicure has survived six flights, four countries, countless unpacking and repacking of my suitcase, and my job where I'm typing all day...I think Kathy may have given me a superpower? Will never go here again. The older Asian lady said she was too busy to do anything and went back to styling someone's hair. Didn't say how long she'd be or to come back in 15 min. Looks like a nice place, only problem is that men aren't allowed in for whatever reason. Must be a cultural thing, but last time I checked I thought this was America. They will yell at you as you enter the door and tell you to get out for the sole reason that you have a different organ on your body. I got a gel manicure yesterday - the girl gave me colors from OPI and CND, and said they recommend CND. I said I've had OPI gel polish done a number of times and it works really well on my nails, but she started saying how it comes out streaky, so I didn't want to insist, have streaky polish, and have her say she warned me.Well, 24 hours later, I have a big chip in the polish on my thumbnail. My boyfriend found Kimmy's Nails and Beauty online as a surprise for me. We were visiting my hometown for my 10 year high school reunion, and since I've been living in Orange County for the past 10 years, had no idea of great salons in the area. After some investigating on the salons by my parents' house, he found this place.Kimmy's Nails and Beauty is the cleanest nail and hair salon I've seen in a long time. The place was spotless and smelled nice. All the equipment are brand new and in great condition (I wish I had taken a picture of the pedicure spa - the basin was a beautiful and crystal like). The clientele is upscale, the nail and hair specialists are professional. Kim, the owner herself did my mani/pedi. She is an optimistic and warm woman who loved her job, her business, and people. It didn't take long for us to warm up to each other, and I heard the sincerity in her voice as she spoke about her passion for pampering and making people feel good. She has 5 beautiful daughters, the younger ones helping out around the salon. Kim shared that business has gone down 30% due to the economy, but she gives back to her clients by giving a discount to those struggling financially (lost their jobs and/or homes). She also often offers free haircut to neighborhood kids whose parents cannot afford to pay.My nails came out good - not the greatest - the nail polish didn't remain on my nails, but extended onto the skin.
