I had a gel manicure done and the polish was just way too thick. 4 coats without the top coat. When my nails started to grow back you can feel how thick the polish was. Just got them redone at a different place and I felt bad for the lady taking off the polish. I wasn't too thrilled with the services that I got. Even my pedicure had too much polish coats on it. The lady had bumped my toes on my sandals and instead of fixing it and redoing them right, she just put more coats over it to cover the mishap. Parking garage validates. The nail salon felt awkward. With funky wall angles and chairs facing odd directions,  it all just felt unsettling.I'd expect such an expensive salon to have a clean,  inviting,  welcoming atmosphere,  but it was just uncomfortable.My nail artist tried to be friendly,  but didn't understand English and didn't do a good job.  I had to redo my toe nails 3 days later. I can't even remember when I started going to Del Mar Nails - it has to be 8 years at least. I would never go anywhere else. Meagan is a true artist! The only reason they get one star is because there's nothing lower to give. I called making an appointment for a gel mani-pedi and asked the price. They told me $55 and I was delighted. When I got there, they started on my toes and start doing the gel right away. Once they started on my hands, I asked again about the price. The lady told me $75. Where did the extra $20 come from?! I told they lady the price she gave me over the phone. And she told me that was only for my toes, not my hands for gel. So I stopped her and said that I want my hands regular then. And she rolled her eyes and she said they don't have a color to match my toes so she literally slapped on clear nail polish and is charging me $20 for it. I made an appointment for a pedicure and gel manicure. As soon as I arrived, I was greeted by a few people. I was taken care of right away. The pedicure was very relaxing and the gel manicure turned out flawless. I parked in the parking garage and they validate parking! By far the best nail salon in Del Mar! Stopped in while in the area and in desperation for a removal of an old manicure. They fit me in right at the end of their day, even staying a little late for me. A young woman did my manicure, removing the old dipped polish and redoing a gel manicure. They do not appear to do any "fake nails" but (I saw no equipment to that effect), but they might do it. They had great prices and the woman who did my nails was very friendly and METICULOUS - I walked away very pleased. Would definitely use them if in the area again.Read Less

Let me just start by saying that this place is absolutely amazing!! Trish did my pedicure and it was the best pedicure I've ever had. She picked a great color for my toes. She was waaaaay beyond thorough and I had a great experience with her. You know how most places give you a bs 2 minute leg/foot massage?...well not this place. First of all - the location of this place is AMAZING! It's in del mar plaza (near Il Fornaio) overlooking the ocean. I thought for sure that because of the location, the prices would be very high - but I was happy to discover they are reasonable ($15 manicure). I needed a new nail salon and found this on Yelp and tried it since it's near my office and convenient to get my nails filled on my lunch break. Megan did my fill and I couldn't be happier. I like my nails with the pink but not the white and some salons don't get that, but she understood that I like a short natural look and gave me exactly that. I love Del Mar Nails and Spa, everything about it. I live in La Jolla which has many places to choose from but I have found Del Mar Nails to be far superior in service and the quality of service. I love my nails after getting them done, both manicures and pedicures. Their spa services are excellent as well. I have always been treated very well. I also enjoy the vast selection of colors for my nails too. My bridesmaids and I went to Del Mar Nails the night before my wedding in Fallbrook, CA (married Nov 25th). I called ahead of time to reserve space for 5 of us. They were very responsive (called me back immediately) and set everything up without a problem. Their prices were reasonable. When we arrived, they were finishing up a couple of customers, but had the whole place reserved for us. We were all very satisfied with both the service and the look of our nails.
