This is possibly my first review ever, but given the nightmare of an experience I had. I owe it to myself to write a review. I had heard great things about Kayla's nails so decided to try it for the first time. Unfortunately I had the worst possible experience. Here are the major points: For starters the place is crammed and crowded. I booked a manicure and pedicure in advance but despite some therapist sitting idle, the two treatments were not done simultaneously. The therapist did not speak any English. The therapist used a rotory grinder and decided to grind the top surface of all my nails. Which I have never experienced before. My usually thick, strong and healthy nails are now thin, brittle and lustureless.  My nails have an unusual pain in my nails and one of my nail beds has a blood clot below the surface so I am asauming my nail beds were damaged in some way. Seriously how bad can one simple Manicure/Pedicure get?! I am amazed! So ladies not sure about you but I'm avoiding this place like the plague! Read Less

My mom, 4 year old daughter and I came here today. My daughter's manicure was fine and they only charged $5 (color change). My gel manicure is okay, however the color I chose looked nothing like the painted nail on the gel color wheel that I picked out. My nail lady noticed and verified the number, checked the color wheel and determined it was the correct number, however it didn't look like the right color. (See below) She assured me that it was just "new." I thought maybe after two coats it would look better. Unfortunately it was definitely labeled wrong but I didn't want to deal with removing the gel and starting over. She also didn't file the edges after over applying the gel stuff, so I keep picking at them since they're attached to my skin. My arm massage was nice though. My mom did not enjoy her pedicure at all. Her lady cut her cuticle on her second toe so bad that it was still bleeding when she went to paint the toe nails. It also started to bleed again once she showed me outside! During the pedicure, the lady didn't apologize for cutting her and tried to put something on it (with a small brush) to stop the bleeding but it didn't work. My mom said the massage seemed rush, her water was way too hot and the whole cuticle cutting just really ticked her off, not to mention it hurt! We probably won't go back. Read Less

If you're looking for a quick stop pedicure, this is not your place. If what you want is a delicious mini escape with super competent technicians who all treat you really well and a gorgeous pedi; then Kayla's is for you.I started coming to Kayla's about 5 years ago and for a while I tried to keep my eyes out for my 'favorite' technician (Monica & Helen are both top notch), but what I found was that pretty much everyone here is extremely solid. Some have a lighter touch with massage, some are more focused on perfectly trimming your cuticles, but all are artists in their own way. I can count on a yummy paraffin dip, hot stone massage, salt scrub and a really nice foot rub on top on off a nice long lasting polish. There is a 5% discount for cash. You can make a reservation but I rarely do that. The busiest times in my experience are just after school hours. Pleasant environment, nice people, lots of magazines. Reasonable prices: my favorite combination! Read Less

Meh I finally tried it because I live so close. You can't beat the speed - I was in and out in 30 minutes for a gel manicure which is convenient. My nails look good, but not great. I would probably go back if I was in a pinch for time and convenience but honestly my hands feel like they've been assaulted. The woman who did them was so fast and aggressive that this was not a relaxing experience. The towel was mostly clean but had dried hard nail polish on it which was then used to wipe my hands. So I didn't care for that too much. It was also very crowded and toxic chemical smelling in the salon. Ok service but not great I think I'll stick to my usual salon. Read Less

I'm really disappointed to have to write this review as I've had two really pleasant experiences here previously and the location is so convenient. (Seriously - those are the only factors keeping them out of one-star territory.)After today, though, I will not be going back. I'm in the midst of a stressful personal situation and wanted to treat myself and be a little pampered. Unfortunately, the woman who just did my manicure was really rude, and if the attitude wasn't enough she also propped herself in such a way that her knee was digging into my thigh while I was getting my foot massage. It was really uncomfortable and I tried to scoot but she just laughed. :( I can get over an uncomfortable experience if it ends in nicely done nails, but that didn't even pan out. My nails are all different shapes and don't look even at all. How hard is it to shape short nails? Next, there is polish all over my fingers. And this is after the manicurist went through with the little brush. Thanks for not leaving them as messy as they were, I guess? My feet were also a mess. I have really short nail beds which I get makes it tricky, but when my feet were supposedly done I could see that there was polish on my skin and cuticles without even putting my glasses on. The girl was nice about fixing it once I pointed it out, but I really don't think I should have had to. It was very obviously a crappy paint job. Now I'm waiting for my nails to be dry so I can take a bath and hopefully scrub the polish from my cuticles. I have no idea how long that's going to take, though, since both my manicurist and pedicurist cut the polishes with acetone. (And god only knows how many times they'd been cut before.) I'm not optimistic for my polish to hold up, which in this case is actually fine since I'm far from loving the paint job. Frankly, I'm really unhappy with the entire situation.  This salon is only two minutes from my home and even with the convenience factor I can't go back. I'm so disappointed by my experience today - I went in to be pampered, and instead left frustrated and with poorly polished phalanges. Do yourself a favor and get your nails done elsewhere. Read Less

I have been here several times with my daughter and granddaughter, and overall this is a nice place to have a reasonably priced manicure or pedicure.  They can accommodate walk-ins, which is unusual, and they also take reservations.  The furniture has been recently redone, so things look neater and more up-to-date than they did in the past.  The pedicure I had was very nice and relaxing (45 minutes long) and my granddaughter's was much less relaxing and only  lasted 15 minutes (and cost $10 less than mine - the math is off, but they tried). People are relatively friendly, but it is always disconcerting when all the conversations among the manicurists are in another language, leaving clients to wonder what's so funny!! I have another salon I prefer, but this one is convenient and more moderate in pricing. Read Less

Took my sister to get a pedicure at the last minutes. Initially we wanted to go to Loyola I Los Altos, but they couldn't service us at6pm and I was calling at 5:30 to make an appointment.  So this nail polish salon, Kayla, was the only one available at that time. The nail polish quality is very poor. After 4.5 hours, the nail polish is still goopy. The attention to detail is lacking-along the edges of the nails the paint is not smooth looking. It cost us $30, which is not worth it at all. Read Less

I got two toenail infections after a pedicure here. I had never had one before this. The sides around my toenails were hurting immediately after but I brushed it off as ingrown toenail, thinking they had just cut them too short. Weeks later when I took the polish off I saw the infections underneath the nail, which took months to get rid of. My last haircut was in May, and I remember my last actual manicure being even before that...which means way too long. My cuticles were a mess. We first attempted another nail salon, but lo and behold, it was out of business. So, my friend suggested Kayla's and off we went! Location: In the Foothill Crossing Shopping Center, smushed in among Peet's, Starbucks, Rite Aid, TJ's, and the product market, among a bunch of other things, is Kayla's. Don't park near Trader Joe's and just go toward the back.Decor/Furniture: So we walk toward the door...and uh oh, a sign on the door. Turns out, they are doing construction next week. Hopefully this means they are replacing the chairs because as soon as we walk in, it hits me how old this place looks. The chairs all have some odd stains and just all the furniture looks old. There are quite a number of pedicure chairs, but the place feels super crowded with little space to move. It did look like they were massage chairs, but this place could certainly use a makeover in look.Anyway, I decided to get a regular mani and my friend got gel. $15/$30...mani/gel...Wow double the price for gel. They take credit card here. Anyway, this was a tale of doubles because my lady asked if I wanted to pay before, while friend's manicurist didn't ask. Kinda awk leaving the tip beforehand. Also, my hands got massaged before the color and my friend's after. See a theme here? In summary:Cutting cuticles - dang she did a good job...or my cuticles were really just that badPolish/color selection - excellent color selection here with an especially overwhelming variety for gelManicurist work - nothing bad to say besides the usual half lack of attention at times when chatting with other manicuristsDecor - old, kinda shabby lookingService - we didn't have an appointment but were taken right away, and it looked like if you get a pedi someone does your mani and pedi simultaneously...lots of people workingThey don't exactly "nail it" (haha, beauty puns), but pretty decent on all aspects. I'm definitely a regular and addicted to Kayla's for the pedicures.  I do ask for the same person which is super helpful because she knows exactly what I want and from my perspective is very consistent...I would share my person's name but she's already in demand - this last time the owner had to finish painting my nails because another customer wanted my regular girl... which was okay but it did break it up a bit...Love that they do a great job in getting rid of the old polish, cutting my nails, cleaning the cuticles and I LOVE the spa like pedi - the exfoliation, the massage, hot stones AND hot wax!  All for $30!  That's a deal... and you sit in nice chairs that massage... AND the place is clean.  You can see that every time some leaves they go through their cleaning routine... they're very careful... And btw - if you pay cash - you get 5% back... so worth it... it's to the point that now hubby goes with me to get a pedicure... he loves the foot and calf massage...  getting spoiled here!! Read Less

A great manicure and pedicure from Monica yesterday. Kayla's is professional and clean. Although Kayla's welcomes walk-ins, I'd suggest making an appointment for weekends and holidays.

Read Less

Great job! Made an appointment for two manicures and pedicures about a week in advance. We got there they were ready to see us and got to work quickly! I got regular polish on my toes and it did get scrapes on my way home because they did not have me stay to dry long enough. But overall such a great experience! Lorna did my hands and I HIGHLY recommend her. She took more time and consideration then I have ever seen a manicurist spend on a person before. :) Read Less

I had been here a few times before with no issue - but now knowing that they didn't clean their equipment properly, I will not be back. Read Less

Happened to find Kayla's Nail Care when I met with a friend at Peet's coffee in the same shopping plaza. The service and quality from this place was excellent. My friend and I had our nails done by different staffs but both of us were over sastified with the detail and quality of the work. We like the hot stone massage that comes with every pedicures. I also had waxing done by the owner (believe her name is Terri..!). Very friendly and performed her work with great care. I used to go to downtown Los Altos for nail care but I would not mind to drive an extra miles from Los Altos Hills from now on to get my nail cared for by this beauty shop. Read Less
