What a huge difference it makes to use safer products on your nails. I've been getting manicures since I was about 10 and the constant polish on my nails definitely had done it's damage. I first found tenoverten when I was living in NYC and had no idea that there was such a thing as non-toxic polish. I noticed a major difference in my nail health after going to tenoverten. This place is especially great if you're pregnant or have children because they use non-acetone remover and non-toxic polishes. It's seriously the only nail salon I've walked into where you can't smell any fumes.Flash forward to moving to LA and I'm so thrilled there's a location here. It's nestled in the cutest shopping center in Culver City. If you work in the area it's easy enough to pop in during lunch or after work. I like to come on the weekends and make a day of it with my girlfriends. There are plenty of other great things to do in the area like grabbing a bite at Loqui Tacos and some vegan ice cream a few doors down. It gets busy though, so it's always helpful to call in advance.Overall, this place is great. Super clean, relaxed and chic vibes, and attentive and sweet staff. Definitely will be a regular here. Had a really great experience here! I wanted to get a man/pedi later in the evening, and Tenoverten was the only place open! They're located in this really cute shopping/food center in Culver City and are surrounding by some amazing insta-worthy LA spots! They fit me right in and even though it was 45 min to closing were so nice and accommodating! They did my mani pedi at the same time and got it done really efficiently - they also have Louboutin nail polish almost exclusively, and had I known that, I wouldn't have brought my own! I was so happy to get it done there and when I visit LA it'll be one of my stops for sure! On a final note, a little pricy but worth it for the service, environment, and cleanliness! Read Less

Nothing special so it's overpriced. Big range in the quality of the technicians some of them are mediocre at best with unfriendly attitude. Clunky appointment system that doesn't always work and isn't intuitive.  Unaccommodating to walk ins. The only reason I go is convenient distance from work. Read Less

My first time there and got a signature manicure, next day nails are already chipped and faded at tips,  I picked their own brand nail polish, not good quality. def not going back.- went back for a nail polish re-application (offered as courtesy) it was even a worst experience, the technician complained all the time about how hard the color was to apply and that I should pick another color, she did a bad application too and was very rude when asking her to fix, left before she could apply the last coat since I really didn't want to get more attitude from her. Enjoyed the mani/pedi thoroughly, however, it's not even been 24 hours and my mani is chipped and skin is peeling from my fingers. While the $65+ tip seemed worth it, I'm definitely questioning ever returning. Too expensive to be worth it. Read Less

Very chic space, quiet and no chemicals in the air.   A refreshing atmosphere from your typically noisy, smelly Nail Salon.  I really appreciate their business model and Eco-Friendly, 8-P Free products, promoting safe and healthy nail care.  However I feel compelled to report that their Pedicure Chairs are uncomfortable, very upright and shallow.  It was impossible to rest my feet on the plastic pedicure bowls they use, with the loose disc-shaped lids that just kept sliding off.  It took serious core strength to keep my feet raised up the WHOLE TIME for 40 mins.  I feel the chair and bowl combination was not thoughtfully designed, not ergonomic or comfortable.  From an upscale place, I was expecting an above average foot massage and callous removal, but I did not get either of those. This is a lovely space and their manicure & pedicure services are top shelf. Everything is neat and organized. Nothing is out of order. Minimalist & modern is the theme.Even the polishes are organized by the brand and carefully organized on the shelves. The staff are friendly and strive to make you feel welcome and comfortable. They offer you water or tea. I appreciated that.Parking is on the street or in the validated parking structure. Remember to bring your parking ticket in to get validated. The prices were reasonable-without the chemical smell and the technicians chatting over you. This is a chemical-free salon, so-no toxic chemicals will be used on your nails. There are shops and cafes surrounding them, so you can get something to eat, drink or snack on and the environment is pleasant.Here's the reason why I like them so much;The manicurists & pedicurists actually like what they do - and it shows. I have to rate Ten Over Ten a 5 for the being cleanest and most stylist Nail Salon in Southern Los Angeles. The decor is modern/ minimalist and provides a very upscale and comfortable atmosphere.  What I loved about it is the lack of acetone smell, which can be so strong and  off-putting at some places! They  offer a very wide variety of nail colors and nail polish brands, is Essie, OPI, Nars and Christian LB! (Of course at a higher service price). The personnel are friendly and very courteous .I've seen some reviews about the manicures themselves not necessarily being the best in technical skill. I used a neutral color so it came out nice. Great ambiance, color selection, and service. I've had a great experience every time I've visited- they really take time for details across your visit- both generally (offering tea etc) and in the work itself. Ex. love that each technician asks how you want your cuticles treated too- not just going to town on them if you prefer not having them cut or trimmed. :) Read Less

Pros: non toxic nail salon with a wide selection of colors from different brands including chanel, nars, essie, their own brand & a couple other brands. It's an aesthetically pleasing space loacted in The Platform. Everyone is super sweet here & they make you feel very welcome, offering you complimentary tea or water. Extra plus is they're open later than most nail salons which works out great for me with my schedule!Cons: Nail techs can be a hit or miss. The 1st nail tech I went to Joy was absolutely amazing! My nails were perfect for almost 3 weeks! Unfortunately the tech that worked on my nails the 2nd time I went did a horrible job. After 24 hours my nails are already chipping, & typically after a manicure my hands are glowing & look, well "manicured " & this past time the skin around my nail bed was very unclean & the edges were not done nicely. If I'm paying $20 or $25 for a manicure plus tip I expect a great job. Also I recommend that you book your appointment ahead of time even though they accept walk ins. I noticed they had maybe 3 nail techs at most at a time so there were some people waiting around. Bottom line: great non toxic salon that's open late but with the current price increase they've had I'd be particular who the nail tech is. I'm a little hesitant to go after this last experience, I was not happy with my nails at all, and this was a treat for me. Read Less

Tenoverten fits right in with the other shops at Platform. Trendy, clean, and $$$. I was hoping to get a mani and pedi, however they said they were only able to fit me in for a mani (with gel removal). Max helped me with the removal and was very sweet. Monique did my manicure and she was great! We talked the whole time and she really care for my nails. The end product was pretty decent. I like that this nail salon is non-toxic. It didn't smell like chemicals inside and was very clean. They also played great music. Even though I had a good experience here, I'm not sure I would come back due to the price. $25 for the mani + $12 for the gel removal + $10 tip (two gals helped me out). Not sure if any manicure is worth $47! I give tenoverten an eightoverten. If you want to drop some serious dough on a regular manicure that will chip in a few days then this is your spot. I have been using Tenoverten's nail polish for quite some time as I really appreciate the the formaldehyde free polish that is made in the USA. I was super excited when I learned that the opened up a salon in Culver City that has the complete Tenoverten polish line as well as some Essie and Chanel. The first thing that impressed me was how breathable the air was in the salon, we all know that nail salon's usually have a pretty intense smell, but not this place. It was practically odor free which is amazing, I might even be able to drag my boyfriend here for a pampering day, he likes getting a pedicure but usually gets headaches from salons. The next impressive thing was how friendly that staff was, everyone from the receptionist, the owner, my lovely nail tech Gabreila, to the people clearing up the tables and space. Now let me talk about the space, I love how clean and calm it was. Everything is of course brand new and the design is perfectly simplistic and fresh looking. It was a lovely atmosphere to kick back and relax in, definitely different than your average LA salon. I look forward to going back soon. I encourage everyone to go get a mani, pedi or both, drink a cup of tea and just relax while they pamper you! P.S. There is a public parking garage directly across the street that is super cheap, $1 per hour. Read Less
