I've been to this nail salon a handful of times, the first time I had a very nice lady (forgot her name) give me a gel manicure. The other times, John did my nails as I wanted acrylics and he was very patient with me and the designs I wanted. It came out just how I wanted it so I was very pleased. But last week I went, they were busy and only had 4 nail techs. Nonetheless I waited no less than 10 minutes. I needed a pedicure and a mani done with my acrylics removed. The lady (Tricia/Tracy I believe her name was), sat me down in the pedi chairs, and took a look at my nails (which was pretty long as it had grown out). I told her I wanted the acrylics removed and a pedicure. She grabbed nail clippers and started cutting them! Mind you, if you've ever had someone clip your long acrylics, they hurt! I pulled my hand away and told her to stop doing that, that they hurt. She smiled and continued. Ok, I didn't want to be rude. She then grabbed a bowl, poured acetone in it, along with a napkin and told me to dip both my fingers in there. She then started with my pedicure. The pedicure was nice, the massage she gave me was longer than most places I've been to and she did a decent job with the pedicure overall. However, the entire time I was wondering if my skin was falling off from being dipped in the acetone for a good 40 minutes all while I was getting my pedicure.Once she completes my pedicure, she took a look at my nails & tried to lift it. She was unable to and told me that I didn't dip it enough and need to put it back in the acetone. I'm thinking seriously? She then grabs one hand and starts to use the nail grinder to literally grind and shave down the acrylics. I was pissed by this point because that is not what I wanted. She would go too far and I'd feel the burn on my actual nail bed and at one point shaved my cuticle. I pulled my finger back and exclaimed "ow!" And she still continued. In between all of these and between both hands she kept asking me to dip my hand in the bowl of acetone. It wasn't until she basically shaved my nail bed off, that she was able to lift what was left off some acrylic on maybe 4 nails. After, she asked me what color I wanted and I showed her the design I wanted. She said she can't do it only John could. So we showed John, who told her in Vietnamese that he can't do it he's busy because he has other clients waiting. This pissed me off even more because the design I wanted wasn't too hard IMO, and a basic nail artist/tech should've been able to do it. Okay, whatever. I went with two simple colors. After 2.5 hours, I paid, gave her a decent tip, & walked out. Well when I was in the car, I noticed one of my nails came out uneven. She didn't put the clear gel on properly and it came out bumpy. I was even more upset knowing how long I was there & how this lady clearly lacked attention to detail. I never had this problem before and I've been very pleased. But this time, I was very disappointed. A week later, my gel has already chipped and lifted in the corner of at least two nails. For this reason, I'm not sure if I'll be back. Or if I do, I'll probably make an appointment ahead of time with John. Pros: Very nice upscale looking salon. I like that they provide coffee for their customers. -John, his wife and team are pretty nice and friendly.-They have a pretty good variety of gel colors. -Pedi chairs are comfortable and the massage chairs are always a plus.Cons: They accept cash ONLY, but they do have an ATM inside which charges I think $2.00 for a withdrawal. Very inconvenient for me as I never have cash on me. -They don't put plastic linings in their pedi tubs. I saw one of the nail techs clean it immediately after using it with a scrub and DISH SOAP. Being in the healthcare field, I was grossed out. They need to clean it with an anti disinfectant after each use! -Also after each customer, they need to wipe off their nail areas, the previous times I've gone there would be leftover "dust" from the nail filings. -They pretty much expect customers to get a gel pedi and I found it to be rude to assume ALL customers want that. The two times I got a pedi they didn't ask they just handed me the gel colors and asked me to choose. -Their regular nail polish selection SUCKS. They have cheap brands and ugly colors, which is probably in purpose so that you will get a gel pedi. -They have two TVs, but all the times I've gone, only one is on. They should have both on for their customers. -All the times I've gone, they only have about 3-4 nail techs and never more than that. On busy days, I can imagine people waiting long for their turn.
