I went in there and asked for a spa pedicure, expecting my nails to be properly cleaned and done. What I got instead was horrible service. The man who attended me did not clean around my nails at all and did a terrible job cutting the cuticles. I had to ask him to cut my cuticles again and he got annoyed. He did not file my nails at all. After he painted my nails he himself saw what a terrible job he had done because he suggested painting with a darker color. I said no after I saw how uneven my nails were and felt so unhappy. I politely asked him to give me cotton and nail polish so that I could remove the nail polish myself but he got very upset and yelled at. Apparently he was the owner. After he charged me $23 for a "Spa pedicure" I pointed out to him that nothing "Spa" had been done to my feet. All I got was water, soap and lotion like in a standard pedicure. The owner said the "spa" was sitting on the chair that has the massage control and him applying lotion on my legs and feet. I was confused because all the nail salon places that I have been to include the chair with the massage control and lotion is applied to the legs and feet. At this point the man became very angry to the point that I had to ask him not to yell at me but he continued to be rude and even critized me for wearing closed toe shoes. At beginning was told $35 for full set with gel, and $15 for manicure for my daughter, and asked for coffin shape, at the end was charged $50 for mine and was oval not coffin and he forgot to put top coat on one hand I had to remind him, and was charged $30 for daughter for just gel on her own nails and gel was on her skin and not all nails were fully covered. I had the worst experience here! I don't even know where to begin. The lady that did my nails (Nina) was a very nice older women but her work was awful. I told  her to cut my cuticles 3 times. She pretended to cut them 3 times, or she thought she was but nothing was being cut. (Maybe she needs glasses) So after half hour of 'cutting' them, I  finally told her my cuticles were ok so she could start the color...  Once she got started on the color I noticed the color was messy. So I thought she was going to clean it up but she asked me to place my hand under the light (gels) I told her that it was messy and didn't want them to dry messy. I got the owners attention. The female owner agreed that they needed clean up but the husband said "they look fine to me, she's a professional " whaaaaaaaaaat? My drunk self can do a way better job!  this is when I'm wishing I had taken a picture to post but I asked them to remove the color that I didn't want anything anymore. If the owner thinks that was fine work then that speaks plenty of the rest of the work they do.   I left money for the lady because I truly think she probably needed glasses and I didn't want to be mean. Really nice ladies at this nail salon! I recommend this place (appointments are probably preferred cause they only have a few pedicure chairs). I might go back again next time I'm on vacation, but I say "might" for 2 reasons: 1) they are not able to do designs (I wanted a simple chevron zig zag on my big toes and unfortunately she only had a toothpick to work with...lame). And 2) the massage could've been a little longer and better (really needed focus on my feet and toes!)  I base all my reviews and tips on the pedicure massage and this just didn't cut it My little 9 yr old niece got a mani and the lady had to touch up/reapply one finger a couple times for some reason and that led to that one finger not holding its polish for even 3 hours later. My favorite nail salon near Linden. Although the salon is a bit small, they give you great service! They are very friendly and do a great job at acrylic nails and Pedicures. I visit Carpinteria every year for a few months and every time I come back they are always so welcoming and excited to see me.  Ken does a great pink and white and I love Fon's pedicure they last at least a month even walking barefoot on the sand.  It is very convenient location and good parking. My tech is super nice and she's absolutely great at what she does! The last time I got my gel manicure it lasted for over 3 weeks without chipping. At some point I broke a nail, but the manicure was so strong that it kept the broken piece from going anywhere... o___o ANYWAYYY, the staff are friendly and do an awesome job, so I definitely recommend this place! We made an appt for 3 people (mani and pedi) and showed up 5 min late which they claim was the reason why it took 2.5 hours. They only had 2 people working there but had only 1 for us 3 at many times as they rotated in their regular customers. We were here with the bride before her wedding and the attention to detail plus utter lack of efficiency was extremely frustrating. This was my first time here today and absolutely my last. Awful service and awful manicure. Way overpriced. The employees were rude to me, as I came in with a big group (bridal party). We DID have an appointment too. The staff knew her (my friend, the bride) and were very friendly to her, but not me. I'm thinking it's because I only got a mani and didn't get a pedi too? I was the only person in the big group who didn't get both services. It's all about the money, right? I'm not "important" enough to them...I guess I'm paying for the beach? I am a not a local and can't believe how bad my experience was. I waited for over 25 minutes for my "turn". I wish I would have walked out then and there. My nails look like a 3rd grader painted them. Half of my fingernail isn't even painted and I paid $16 for this? No way. I would not recommend this place at all. My friends have been telling me forever about this place and I have just finally come. The salon is clean and organized that made me feel very comfortable. The lady that did my nails did an awesome job. She was professional and very nice. The price is very reasonable. Ken and Fong are awesome! They are very accommodating and truly care about their customers...local or not! If anyone had a bad experience, either they didn't speak up, were poor patrons, or asked for what couldn't be delivered by ANY salon! I'd drive from San Diego to get my pedicure done...& once I moved to the area, now I get my nails and toes done there, driving 25 miles! What could be better? Local family owned and operated, Faung and Ken, a husband and wife. Faung's mother is there usually helping too.  Very professional, fast and friendly. I have been going there for at least 8 years.  They are dedicated to their customers, know them all by name, and very affordable. in referance to one of the other reviews:  If the water for the pedicure is not warm enough, just let them know, They are always happy to adjust it. A friend and I stopped in here on a Saturday for a pedicure and a manicure.  Little did I know but we were about to receive the worst mani/pedi of our lives.  My feet were placed in cold water with the hot water running.  Cuticle removal was virtually not existent.  There was very little scrubbing (an old dirty little scrub sponge with no soap) and the massage consisted of an effortless application of lotion.  The pedicure was bad but the manicure took it to a whole other level of bad.  My nails were left uneven and the nail polish continued to peel off the following day (never really dried).  Even after my suggestions for improve the service, no attempts were made.  The whole mani/pedi took 25 minutes, if that.  It was obviously a matter of getting people in and out as quickly as possible.  After talking to the locals, they say this is not the place to go.  Duly noted. This is a family-owned business that is personal and caring. Ken & Fong give special treatment to their regular customers and Ken does great full sets. Fong does great Manis and Pedis, and her mother is "OK" at Pedis, but not as good. It is important to phone in for an appointment here, or you may wait. This place is small, quiet and convenient compared to "Luxury Nails" down the street (where I had to wait eons to get any attention). I find this is the best choice in Carp. Read Less

I live locally and came by here after my normal girl didn't have time to get me in. I do gel manicures that require the polish to be soaked off with acetone. I came in and asked if they could take me. I waited five minutes before a girl started getting my nails ready to have the gel removed. Once she had all my nails soaking she left and started on a pedicure. I sat like that for twenty five minutes before I asked when someone was going to be available to finish me. She then came back and said it would be another fifteen minutes (after taking out that creepy drill and using it to remove some more of my polish). I made an appointment to have a pedicure.  I have been to this place once before without incident.  However, when I showed up, it was clear that it was going to be a while before they could start on me.  After about 10 minutes, I asked how much longer it was going to be.  After some translation, I was told to sit at a manicuring table.  A woman came out with a bucket of hot water and I was told to put my feet in it.  That's when I walked out.  Not the relaxing pedicure I had envisioned when I made my appointment.  Maybe they can afford to treat tourists like that in the summer, but good luck getting locals to go there the rest of the year.
