This was my first time at this salon and it's been quite a while since I've treated myself to a manicure. I've tried many other salons and haven't been able to find one that I really liked. Kathy was awesome! I'm very picky when it comes to my gel manicure. I don't like when an edge of the nail is missed or bubbles in the polish. Kathy did a great job and even fixed a bubble with out me having to ask. At other salons I always have to point out something that needs to be fixed and then they act irritated like I'm asking too much. I love that Kathy was a bit of a perfectionist. Everyone here is so kind! The environment is welcoming and inviting as well as very relaxing!I've only met Tammy, Wendy, and Kathy so far but they have been wonderful and I am so happy with my nails every time!I also got my first ever pedicure here and they walked me through it and made me feel comfortable even though I was nervous because I'd never done it before.I highly recommend visiting and there is even a gym in the same building so you can both pamper yourself and invest yourself at the same location! I drove to Carmichael from El Dorado Hills because the reviews for Kathy were great. I am soooooo happy with nails. They are amazing and Kathy was able to achieve exactly what I wanted. I'm absolutely making the drive and coming back for a purple I saw in the huge amount of colors they offer. As for price, I really don't think it's very expensive for the quality of work. I moved to Carmichael in April and have been looking for a place to get my nails done after a year hiatus. This place is 30 seconds from my apartment. I called in as a first time person and was able to be seen. I had Dee. She was a Deelight! She was so nice, honest, and was great to talk with. She has a unique way of creating you nails and takes pride in her work. I am so happy to have found this place and Dee. I love how close this is to my house but would probably follow Dee to where she went next if she did. 10/10 Read Less

Very clean, cute shop. Linda did my pedicure, she is very friendly and professional. It was an overall very pleasant experience, the most enjoyable pedicure I've had, and I'm very happy with the results. The only reason for 4 stars is that it was slightly pricier than other salons, but again I think the environment & customer service were worth the cost. I will definitely be returning in the future. To start off I made an appointment after reading the reviews on yelp and finding on their yelp a picture of the shape and color I wanted ! I love that you can make an appointment and not get interrupted every time someone walking in the door because the tech is waiting for the next client by appointment . Well when I booked it gave me a price 45$ I chose the full set acrylic with glitter cause what I wanted was 9 solid 2 glitter so I felt this option best fit my needs . Upon picking my glitter color after I arrived  we figured I'd just do gel glitter instead of powder no price difference was specified . it doesn't bug me cause I was willing to pay for good quality nails and I surely got it but some people might when that little of a change is an extra 10$ . I wanted an almond shape medium length . I wanted the 9 solid a natural sheer pink white color . With glitter on my ring finger both ladies were searching for the right color sheer pink color. The lady that did my nails was really cool she knows what's she is doing and is for surely talented . I feel I have fat nails and she made them look narrow and slender . I finally found a place that doesn't make my finger look like I have press on nails . De'ann paid specific attention to my nails and what I wanted and they turned out amazing ! Went to High Maintenance Nail Salon for the first time today.  D'Ann was my nail technician.  I walked out a VERY happy woman.  I arrived a little early, she took me right away and we started talking like old friends.  She listened to what I wanted done with my nails and the outcome was perfect.The salon is SUPER clean, decorated in a very cute way.  I have FINALLY found my go-to place to get my nails done. PRICEY! DeAnn did my nails.. Had an appointment at 10:30 am this morning, and left at 1:30 pm. Asked for coffin nails, which I've been getting for months now and left with HELLA pointy nails. I have a hard time with this review because I loved the environment and the ladies working but I almost hate my nails. I love the color I chose but the layers kind of uneven near the edges. I love the length of my right hand but the only finger that is the shape and length I wanted is my thumb. My left hand nails are significantly longer then my right hand, SIGNIFICANTLY. Granted I didn't see this until I got home. I stopped asking her to change my nails after awhile because I figured past the acrylic there's not much you can do for the shape. I wish I would've been given a price quote before starting and a longer consultation but that's my bad for not asking. My nails were 65$, not including the 5$ off for checking in. Still, the salon is super pricey. I'm from the Bay Area and for the shape and gel color, it's only 45$ most places. The owner, Kathy, was super friendly and offered to order me a sandwich along with some for her employees but I'm still on the fence of if I would go back. The salon is located inside of the gym, which is owned by her husband. The area is kinda sketchy but such a well kept salon. Pictures will be up shortly. Showing the length difference and color. Oh and if you already have nails on when you go in, when you make an appointment you need to let them know ahead of time so they can make sure they have time to do it. They ARE the ONLY place I have ever gone too that has ever taken the nails of the proper and "legal" way, with the least damage to the natural nail. Quality of nail is good but not worth the bad customer service. First of all the owner was openly prejudice towards vietnamese nail salons saying they were dishonest and did things like watered down their nail polish to make it last longer. I went in on march 21st to get a fill on my acrylics done, which by the way costs $30, and there was no method of payment available. I agreed to return the next day, march 22nd, at 10:30am, 30 minutes after they were supposed to open. I arrived at 10:30 and was told by the owners husband that no one would be coming in that day because they were all sick. I returned the following day, march 23rd, at the same time and saw that the sign in the front window read that they were still closed and they're posted hours said they were supposed to be open at 10am. Frustrated i returned home to recieve a text at around 2pm asking me to come in and pay for my fill. I went in and was not apologized to for the inconvenience or offered some sort of reparation such as a discount of my previous fill, and to top it all off the owner sent me a text later that evening saying that she and her husband had opened at 9:30am on march 23rd. But why would i enter an establishment thats sign clearly read "closed"?? She did apologize for the incovenience via text but i would have prefered an in-person apology and some sort of consolation for this whole fiasco. All in all not worth it. Read Less

I've had acrylic nails 1986 - 2010. I am very particular when it comes to how my nails look, the cleanliness of the nail salon and most important how I am treated in the salon. I have gone to High Maintenance Nail Salon just once and was completely delighted. The ladies are very nice and have fun in their workplace. Yes there is a small gym as you walk into the building, but let's be honest ladies, how many of you feel safer with that gym there? It's kind of a buffer between the salon and the parking lot. I like it. I followed D'Ann from another salon and she is awesome! She is very gentle and meticulous about her work. Again I am very picky and I am totally pleased, thrilled and happy when I leave the salon.  I had her put on the "mood" nail gel with a little bling and I had a lot of fun with it. I have had my nails done there by Kathy Ford, and Linda kwoka. both are amazing. Kathy is better with gel polish and Linda with Acrylic. Both are fantastic ladies who do an amazing job. My nails last 3 weeks with either of them. I highly recommend both. Read Less

I was very impressed with the level of professionalism, the salon cleanliness and attention to detail, the friendly owner and my nail artist, Linda.  The salon is located within a  gym, but once within the salon, it's quiet and contemplative. I really wanted to like this salon because the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, the quality of my nails was not up to par.To start, the salon is tucked away inside a gym so don't think you are lost when you don't notice it when pulling in. There is plenty of parking and once you enter the salon it is small but cute and clean. I was greeted right away by my nail technician, Sophia (or Sophie), as well as the owner, Kathy. They were both very nice and even offered me a water or coffee.Once seated, we discussed what I wanted which was a set of acrylics. I am a nail biter and having fake nails is the only thing that prevents me from biting. While my natural nails were quite short, I was assured that wouldn't be an issue. I really liked that she told me what she was doing during each step, however I did notice that her process was slightly different from other salons I've been to in the past. Unfortunately, the customer service was the only good thing about this salon. All the reviews I read were about how good Kathy is and I now wish that I had tried her instead. I don't think Sophia is necessarily a bad technician, but I would suggest more training and experience. After an hour and a half (quite long) I let with my new acrylic set. When I left I was happy with how they looked. However, after just a day or two all of my nails were lifting on the edges and and even cracked. I also noticed that some nails were thicker or uneven. After a week I did call and let them know about my concerns and they said to come back and they would fix it free of charge. I was very happy that they were genuinely concerned about my happiness and got me in right away. When I got there they both looked over my nails and said they were lifting because my nails were so short to begin with that the acrylic didn't have much to adhere to. They said it would be a simple fill to fix. Once again it took about an hour and a half, but I could tell she was paying very close attention to do a better job this time around. She also kept asking me to take a look and approve. Of course they looked better after a file down and fill so I was again satisfied. BUT, once again, after only a day two nails chipped on the corners and half of my nails were lifting. I couldn't believe it. I would have called again but unfortunately I don't have the patience to try them a third time in a two week span. I decided to go to another salon where they fixed the lifting and chips and they still look like new days later. Like I said, I really wanted to like this salon. The stars I gave are solely because how how nice and accommodating they were. If you do make an appointment here I would recommend Kathy because she is the only one that the reviews are based on. I absolutely loved it here! Tried it for the first time last weekend. Kathy performed my service, but both Kathy & Kim were there & they were both super nice, friendly & welcoming. As a previous reviewer mentioned, it is a shared space with a personal training gym, but the gym doesn't interfere with the nail shop & although unusual, it's not awkward or intimidating.The job Kathy did on my nails was OUTSTANDING. I had a gel manicure & basic pedicure. Coverage of the polish was really good & there was no polish left on my skin, all edges were thoroughly cleaned up.I'm going to mention something else that is probably not pc & really doesnt affect me either way, but I know it affects others, so I'm going to bring it up. Many nail shops have nail techs where English is their second language and/or they speak broken English. That is not the case for this shop. English is their first (and only, I assume) language.To me, the quality of the nails & the service are the most important part & both were absolutely wonderful! Read Less

Kathy, Kim and Henry at High Maintenance Nail Salon are awesome!  I took my 4 year old daughter Lilly in for a mommy/daughter date last month and received exceptional customer service. Kim took extra care to be gentle when doing my daughter's pedicure.  Lilly told me after, "I like Kim!"  Kathy, the salon owner, ran over to the florist next door and brought Lilly and I a single rose each... So sweet!  Henry did my pedicure and he was thorough and gave a great calf massage.  Probably the best pedicure I've ever received!I took Lilly in again today and the experience was just as great!  I love how they made Lilly feel so special and beautiful.  I will continue to come to this salon because they go above and beyond to give their clients a relaxing and fun experience.  It has Lilly's approval as well!
