In the past, I/Mimi have had my hair done at the La Jolla Aveda Salon for almost 10 years while I had lived there, and still at the same place later on when I moved to La Costa. Then, I moved to Encinitas and decided to look for a closer Aveda, and Brittney at Quattra Via Salon became the assigned stylist to work on my hair.  She was the Manager, and daughter of the owner.  I constantly asked her to cut my hair one way, but she ended up cutting a hole on the back of my head.  She would not listen, and after 4 years, I gave up. I finally decided to get my hair cut at another salon across from Quattra Via at the Forum. Because my scalp is very sensitive to other tints except Aveda products, I decided to keep only the tint process going at Quattra.  I kept noticing the price getting higher and higher with Brittney's work, so when she added an additional charge without asking me about it, I questioned it when I was charged by the cashier.  She then went to ask Brittney about it, she told her that she would waive this added fee this time only. She made me feel as if I was asking for a handout.  That was the last straw.  I left and I am better off at another Aveda Salon, which is located nearby, without such negative treatment.  Brittney has a problem listening to the customer.   Being the owners daughter, she thinks she can do whatever she pleases and ask for whatever amount she thinks she is worth. This is the old bait and switch tactic, and not part of standard acceptable business practice. Shame on you Brittney, you should know better! Read Less

I've been a customer for years, and they still surprise me with the level of customer service.  This salon goes above-and-beyond to give you the best experience with hand massages, beverages of choice, and even touching. Up your lip gloss.  But today, when I realized I forgot to eat before my 1pm appointment, they suggested they could pick up my order from a nearby restaurant.  I hesitated, because this is just too much to ask, but finally relented after they insisted.  Most importantly, I continue to receive compliments on my hair cut/color, even after being a client for years.    If I could only give 10 stars... This salon is on par with the customer service.  I was immediately greeted, checked in and offered a beverage.  I enjoyed a delicious white Sangria.  The setting of the salon is comfortable and inviting.  I saw Christi and she did an amazing job on my hair.  She is a sweet angel!  So glad that I met her and I'm looking forward to seeing her as my new regular stylist.  A+ experience here. Without a doubt, this is a great salon and Cara is the best!I just moved here from and am a loyal Aveda customer.  I was going to another salon in Carlsbad, but my stylist moved so I was looking for another salon.  I am so happy that I went to Quattra and had Cara as my stylist!!  The salon is very beautiful, clean, and zen.  I loved the themes of water, fire, etc and all the quotes you can read while waiting for the color to set in.  Cara was just amazing!!  She knew exactly what to ask, was extremely friendly and funny, and gave a great hair cut and color. The cut was a great length and style, the color could not have been more perfect also. If you're a blonde then Katie is your girl! I need bleach touch ups and like to be all over blonde. Everywhere else I went they would leave my roots yellow and my hair would break off! I love my salon! Aveda is such a good product line and I love that they use all Aveda products. I have been going here for over a year now, and have worked with several of the stylists. The owner and her staff are so kind and accommodating. Kaitlyn and Kristina are my main two artists because they do my beautiful hair extensions! They are both absolutely wonderful and they always do a fantastic job, I love them so much. My extensions always look so natural and I get tons of compliments. I have also had my hair dyed here, deep conditioned, styled, and cut. Never had a bad experience and I never will. I love being at this salon, it is so relaxing, clean, and beautiful. Everyone is so friendly and amazing, it is truly the only salon I trust 100% with my hair. Since I've been going here, my deeply damaged hair has grown several inches and I've noticed that it's become much more healthy. This is an Aveda salon so as soon as you walk in the door and has a unique smell and feel. Make she feel right at ease.  Yes- it can be a bit more expensive, but I feel it's worth it as you are  pampered from the moment you walk in.   Have seen a couple of stylists here, but Caitlyn is my favorite. Hi everyone,You know that feeling when you've spent a lot of money and are not satisfied with the service. I am new to the area so I confided in the recommendation of the receptionist. Who, I'm willing to bet, gets a discount when she books appointments for this person. She suggested having Katie do my highlights and trim. She said it would be around $80 for the partial highlights~ but once I was in the hair dresser's seat, that changed to $120. The price was honored since that is what I was told...still quite an awkward and embarrassing feeling. In retrospect, I should have left right then and there. Instead of simply raising the blonde highlights, three different colors came out~ the previous base blonde, bleach blonde and copper. I neither like the color(s) nor the cut~ she took way too much off beyond the split ends and I felt devastated. I literally lost sleep for the first few nights because I felt upset and disappointed that I had confided in her. I should have taken a cue from her appearance of a causal tank top with a older, dirty-looking bra exposed~ I am not picking on her~ but the upkeep of her overall look was a contrast to that of the other ladies who work there. Regardless, complaining to someone who would listen with an apathetic ear is futile. She cannot make my hair instantly grow back. I have lost faith in hair dressers. Period. Read Less

I had been having my monthly root touch up done by Aubrey and she was great, but she is no longer here and today I had Tierney for the first time. What a disappointment. I had a 9 AM. First appointment of the morning so you would think we could start on time. Instead, I was kept waiting for 10 minutes at the front desk until Tierney finally emerged from the break room, with no apology, or explanation. I found this a little disrespectful. We got started and once she applied the color and told me I would need to sit for 25 minutes. 40 minutes passed and she still hadn't showed up to rinse me out so I had to go to the front desk to ask them to remind her that the 25 minutes had long passed. I actually ended up missing another appointment I had this morning because of this. The experience didn't really improve from there either. I basically couldn't wait to get out of there. And then when I told the front desk that the experience had been far from satisfactory all they could say was, "Ohhh, sorry to hear that", without asking for any detail.  Interesting. Didn't they want to know why? I guess not.Anyway, I really don't think I will be going back here. If I do, I will definitely ask for somebody else. They do a good job of offering you something to drink, walking you around, explaining their "element concept" etc., and it is a nice and relaxing atmosphere, but I think when it comes down to actually providing good customer service and caring about the experience they are actually providing, they really fall short. Just went to this salon for the first time to have a hair cut. Taylor took care of me and did a fantastic job! I have been looking for a stylist in SD area for at least 2 years-- they always give me the same basic cut, but she did some layer magic and gave me a little more oomph. Love it. First, I LOVE Aveda products, so was super excited to try this salon - never had I had a bad experience in an Aveda salon. That being said, there's the old adage "you get what you pay for", and unfortunately for the high prices of this salon my expectations are higher than normal. I'll break this down into 5 quick categoriesHair Cut - I asked for a long angled (longer in front) bob, stating it was okay to cut hair much shorter to remove some of the previous cut layering that was uneven and I disliked. While my hair cut doesn't look bad by any means, it is absolutely not an angled bob I asked for, I got a trim at best. I could have gotten a trim anywhere for much less then they charge. I asked for a new style, not a trim.Bang Trim - Asked to straighten up bangs. Was not pleased. I mean, they are straight so not terrible in that regard, but there were layers cut into my bangs and some additional very uneven and far back on my head v shape, much too far to back to lay properly and will now be growing out this section for a good year or so. Not happy, but I'll live. I could have had bang trim for a few bucks pretty much at any salon, anywhere and not had the extra bits cut out.Color - Color was great, absolutely fantastic all over color touch up. Not a single complaint, shiny, rich, perfect.Highlights - I asked for some hidden chunky highlights above each ear, a couple foils for each. I ended up with highlighting all around the frame of my face. Again, this doesn't look bad, it's just not at all what I asked for so a pattern has emerged.Service - My hair washing was excellent, staff very friendly but I called in advance to get quoted and set up with an appointment. I had a budget to stick to. Quoted $120-150 or so, which was fine. Walked out paying $100 MORE than quoted. Not sure what happened, except I think I paid for the partial highlights that I didn't ask for? I don't know, I was in shock and just walked out after paying. I wrote the manager a private email to give them the option to reach out to me but after 3 days of not having heard back, I figured I'd go about it this way. I, again, have higher expectations. Three times I have my hair royally screwed up at other salons and management was very eager to resolve the matter, setting appointment for the following day to make any corrections I wanted. Crickets from this salon...Overall theme is not what I would expect from a salon that charges the prices they do. I received a Bleach N Tone and a cut from April Anderson and she did an incredible job! She made sure she knew exactly what I wanted and executed it beautifully! She was very thorough in explaining her techniques and the process and made sure that it was the perfect tone! She was able to bleach my hair and still keep it soft and healthy! I saw Taylor yesterday for a cut and looking to establish a relationship with a new stylist. The overall vibe and ambiance of the spa is excellent. Everyone is very friendly and professional. I love Aveda products so I felt really relaxed and comfortable. Taylor is so knowledgable, and really kind. She asked a lot of great questions and gave me some really good tips on how to accomplish my goals with growing my hair and bangs out, and gave me a very healthy looking trim. Horrible customer service. First off their online booking system is horrible. So don't waste your time trying to book it online. I also got called literally 2 hours before my appointment just to have them cancel on me. Of course today is Memorial Day, so I can't help but be suspicious that the artist just didn't want to work. Especially since there was no real reason as to why it was being canceled. I am new California and was looking for my next Salon, I definitely will not be booking an appointment here ever again. Hi All!Yesterday I was seen by Caitlin Ashlee at Quattra Via Salon and Spa. Here's the deal .... poor Caitlin was stuck with me and somebody else's mess. (My hair was melted and fried from another salon) She didn't even bat an eyelash the moment I sat in her seat for my consultation.       I had told her basically in tears that my once long healthy hair was now THIS! And that I seeking extensions. I've never had extensions so naturally I was scared after my last experience. She made me feel at ease and was extremely confident she got this in the bag. She explained the process to me in detail. I immediately put the money down for my hair. Normally I would of done more research (this was my first time at the salon) but she made me feel like I didn't even need to look anywhere else. So we ordered my hair. Since I've been so traumatized before... upon waiting for my hair I did the one thing your not supposed to do. I started googling hair extensions. (Just like you do if your sick.....and then find out your dying) needless to say I saw "extentions gone bad" hahahaha poor girl I called at least 3 times. And each time, she gracefully and confidently answered all my questions while putting me at ease each time. The big day came! I was excited and scared (still) yes, my last go around was that traumatizing. As she started pulling the hair out of the box. {hair by Babe Extentions} I was in love with the quality and all my fears went away and I was SO excited to get started. She was gentle with my hair but yet efficient. The process including hair shape/trim/blend took only 2 hours! I've spent more time on color in the past!When I was done.... I don't think she saw but I had tears in my eyes. I felt confident again, like a woman. Not a woman with fried brittle hair anymore! Day After (Today) my head had NO pain due to any tugging(no she didn't tug) or the weight of extensions. It looks and feels amazing!!!!! I wanted to write this in depth for 2 reasons. #1: Caitlin and how professional she was. And #2 I had a hard time finding any reviews on extensions. If your thinking about them.... go see her! I can't say enough great things about Quattra Via! When you walk in you are greeted with a warm hello, you're checked in and offered a beverage. I always go for the delicious Tea ( I actually bought it) but one of these day I'm going to indulge in a glass of wine :) And then there's Taylor, my stylist. She's simply the best! Taylor has been doing my hair for years..taking me from very short to now past my shoulders. Taylor has such an eye for how hair should look, yet she still listens to me and my wants. I have been looking for a great color specialist for years. My hair is naturally very dark and I like to wear it ashy blond with dimension. I have been so many places - many that were supposed to be "top line". I never realized just how wrong things could go until this year. I took a chance last week and saw Krystina Kunz at Quattra Via. She listened - really listened to what I liked and worked hard to pull it off. I am walking on cloud 9 as my hair color hasn't ever looked this great. I am SO HAPPY and GRATEFUL!!! This isn't the hair salon that I normally go to... I get my cuts and color done somewhere else, just because I already have a hairdresser that I've been going to for awhile and love.But in between those appointments, I come to Quattra Via Aveda, just because they've been able to get me in on pretty short notice for quick bang trims, and hair styling and makeup application for special occasions. They've gotten me all dolled up for dance show performances! I've been happy with how they've styled me.It's a really nice salon. Upscale, with a zen atmosphere. The whole experience is designed to relax you. You'll get taken care of with a refreshing beverage of your choice, and you can sit and enjoy it in the quiet lounge area where there's music that sounds like what they play in yoga class and slideshows of nature photography on a projector screen. I had Kristin do my hair and she was so nice actually wanted to get to know me, didn't treat me like just another paying customer even though I was she was great. I was greeted right as I walked in offered something to drink & just over all a great place e to go. If your looking for a place with people who actually take the time to get to know their clients this is the place for you. My very recent visits to Pat's were exactly the same as every visit has been - excellent. I have driven Hondas for the past 25 years because they build great cars, but more importantly, Pat's is there to service and fix my Hondas. Pat's people are not only the best, but their service not only fixes what needs fixing, it heads off new potential problems. I'm always confident when I take my Honda to Pat's that it will be fixed and serviced completely and I won't be overcharged for that excellent work.
