Went in and the person doing my nails cut me deeply on my skin and then proceeded to get polish on my skin in multiple places. When I asked her to remove it she told me multiple times that it would wash off in a few days! I left feeling unsatisfied so decided to go back in and give them a chance to fix it. I asked for the manager and she was initially annoyed and asked what did I want done? I said I just want the polish taken off my skin. She agreed to do so and told me I could come back for another mani another time as a courtesy. I was happy with that and so went back a week later and when I asked if I could just put a tip on the card they charged me full price so I reminded her what she had told me a week ago and she said, "well you misunderstood!" I can’t speak on the salon service, but I can speak on ordering from The Hair Icon website. Which was by far the worst experience I’ve had to date, and that says a lot because I purchase a lot of things online. Overall it was the lack of customer service and communication that bugged me, not even the fact that I haven’t even gotten the product and it’s been a month. For about a month now I’ve reached out to The Hair Icon trying to find out where my package is. Has it been shi...pped? Because I haven’t gotten it and the money is out of my account. I first emailed them, no response. Then I decided to call the salon. Fortunately, someone responded and told me that I should get my package in a few days... I never did. So I called again over multiple days, and no one answered. Finally I decided to message the owner on IG. She seemed apologetic and promised to overnight my product ensuring I’ll get it the next day... that was a week ago and I still haven’t gotten anything. I ended up just calling my Bank for a refund. Honestly, not worth the hassle anymore and you’ve completely 100% lost this customer. Why couldn’t you just communicate with me any difficulties or delays rather that telling me multiple times that I’ll get the product and still I have not. I went about two weeks ago since a friend recommended. I got a full set manicure, it was extremely over priced for what I got. I paid 55 dollars. The nail technician cut my finger while filling them down. She also messed up not once but twice, and my nails started chipping away 20 minutes after I got them done. Very poor service. I walked in and stated "I don't need a manicure just would like to pay for my nails to get painted with gel polish". The technician said okay. When it came time to pay she attempted to charge me $28.00 and stated they don't just paint nails. Keep in mind they're also advertising a sign out front stating "shellac gel manicure for $18.99". This is my second time coming here as I believe in giving business two chances. As mani/pedi experiences go, it was just okay. A few positives were that the technicians were friendly and there's a lot of polish color selection. However, some concerns of mine:1. Cleanliness. I've never been to a salon where I don't see them taking their tools out of a sealed bag (indicates tools have been sanitized). 2. Not thorough. My mani pedi's usually are about an hour, I was done in maybe 35 minutes. My manicurist was great at removing dead skin around my nails, but the pedicurist wasn't. My feet almost look like I didn't get a manicure, and I couldn't even feel her trimming anything. She got through one foot in less than five minutes, when I'm used to other locations trimming and taking dead skin off each toe. I have ingrown nails and it's important that the dead skin is cleaned off regularly to avoid pain and infections. I was also the only one in the nail salon for about the first 20 minutes, so what was the rush?3. The polish job wasn't great. It was honestly something I could have done at home, and the whole point of going to the salon is that technicians should be able to do it better than me. There were air bubbles in the polish on my hands. There was a woman (I assume is the owner or some type of supervised) that could not look more disinterested. She prepped two customers coming in but the two technicians working on me were expected to come work on the new customers. Overall, if you just need your nails done and you simply don't have time to go someplace else, this place is fine enough. But even though I live right around the corner (walking distance!) and is a decent price, I will take the time to go someplace else and pay a little more. Read Less

They seemed friendly enough but the nail polish wasn't great, she didn't put enough coats on it to make it a solid color. By the end of the night it had already begun to chip. So frustrating. . . I just got a gel manicure from Anna. The manicure looks awesome and she really took the time to do it right even though I came in about 15 minutes before they closed. She was very polite and make friendly conversation while doing my manicure. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 star review is because it was SO HOT in there! There isn't air conditioning which is fine because for some reason that's normal in San Diego. I come from Florida and have never been anywhere that doesn't have AC. But I digress...I was literally sweating while sitting there getting my manicure. It was pretty difficult to relax with sweat dripping down my forehead. I also tried to be all nonchalant about it and dab my fave with my hands which was gross. New to town, tried this salon out... My foot has scabs from my pedicure, she was scrubbing the side of my foot and I asked her if they'd had a busy day and the girl said yes. I understand everyone gets tired but my foot was cut by a scrubber that had been obviously used. I am scared that it was infected so I put a couple things on it to clean it. The girl denied scabbing my foot, so what am I to do... My nails were not what I wanted but she didn't tell me until they were 1/2 way done that I couldn't really have what I wanted my nails to be. I was there for over two hours, I prefer to have both mani/pedi done at the same time so it doesn't take as long as this salon. I came in for a gel mani/or do and thought it was great. The next day, two of my gels started lifting and tearing/peeling off of my nails. I didn't have the time or inclination really to go back and complain, so I tried to file down the torn part, but they just get peeling. I called first, and was told to come on down, but when I got there was told that my nails were too short, that's why it happened... And maybe because I filed them.No apology and no responsibility assumed. They did fix the two nails (we'll see how long they last) which I appreciate, but I've been getting gels on my short nails for years now and have never seen them fall apart in less than 24 hours ever.  I was totally disappointed by the bad customer service of management - this could've been handled better and they could've kept a client. I went in to get a mani/pedi. Pedicure was great, pretty standard. For the mani I asked for nail extensions w/ just gel -- no acrylic because it leaves my nails very brittle and damaged. Unfortunately, they came out wonky, bumpy, and vey uneven. Only two coats of the color itself was applied and left the color looking weak and almost see-through. I am visiting Carlsbad from Northern California and needed my nails done. I'm generally pretty picky and will watch how they're doing, and it's usually kinda awkward for me at a salon. I had zero problems with Nini. I had a little wait, but was quickly distracted with the wide variety of gel colors to pick from. The best part about this place was the prices. You can't beat a $25 mani/pedi. I would go back to get a mani/pedi of it wasn't for a special occasion. The pedicure was good, but I wish they scrubbed my feet more. The manicure could have been better, my nails were not cut/filed evenly and they chopped after the first day. One thing I did like was the color selection and the way they were arranged. I also got my eyebrows cleaned up and it was $10. It didn't hurt at all and I had a good experience. I've been looking for a nail salon that I like ever since moving to Oceanside and went through yelp looking. After a dissatisfying experience at a place called Crystal Rose, I felt i was not going to find a good place. Them I saw this place while having dinner at Rubios in the same shipping center. I was Very pleased with my manicure that Nini did for me. She did exactly what I wanted. I showed up 20 mins till closing and they took me in. They were really nice and friendly. I really liked the manicure bar area, it was something new and interesting that I've never seen before. They had a huge variety of gel color to choose from....I loved having so many options. Great place and service. What's different here is the experience. So many options on seating, I like the smaller seats with the disposable "buckets" for lack of a better word. They also have the jet spa seats now, too as well as the manicure bar.A long list of teas and flavored water. They removed my calluses without charging extra. A hidden gem for sure. I'll be back.
