First this isn't even the correct name and address on the building so we had trouble finding it. We were told they could take three and set up an appointment. They were only able to start on two of us. Just after starting on our pedicure another customer walked in and they said it would be fifteen minutes. I immediately thought this is going to be a rush job and not the relaxing pedicure I came for. Not only did it indeed end up being rushed but my nails were cut crooked and I didn't want her cutting them any shorter and she was busy talking to everyone else and not focusing on me so didn't ask to fix them. Then she stopped to tell me in an incredibly rude tone and attitude that I NEED to cut my nails more frequently. I was stunned at the way she said this and took a bit to respond back that yes I know they were bad but I just had a baby three weeks ago and haven't been able to attend to myself much. (I had just had a pedicure four weeks before and pregnancy and postpartum hormones make nails grow like crazy). They didn't touch dry spots or callouses on any of us. She finished up my back job quickly and we waited for our nails to half dry before they started pushing us out the door. As we handed our card for payment they said cash only please (no signs for cash only). As I pulled out what cash I had to see if it would cover the cost we were just short and she said she could take a card for the rest. Why can you take a card for part of the payment butt not all? Horrible service, terrible business practice. We will NOT be going back or passing on recommendations. Read Less

Horrible place.  Avoid by all means. This review is based on my second visit here.  I resorted to this shop because I actually work down the block and had about an hour to kill for my lunch break.  I really needed to get my nails done since I had a birthday event to attend to that night and I figured my first visit wasn't too bad, so why not?Badly mistaken. The shop was not even busy- only one other customer was there (it was mid-afternoon on a Friday).  They had plenty of workers available and they just HAD to assign a newbie to work on me.First of all, let me make this clear.  I don't normally mind new workers training on me.  As a matter of fact, sometimes I think they're actually better than the veterans because they're probably more likely to take the time to make sure everything was done nicely and correctly. Now, moving on, how did I know she was a newbie?  She put OIL on my nails BEFORE putting on the gel nail polish.  I'm no pro at doing nails, and I don't know what products conflict with what, but at first I thought, "Hey, she's taking an extra step to make my nails look nice.  Okay, okay.  That was good of her." But then she moved on to painting my nails (where the paint job was only subpar) and when I stuck my hand underneath the UV light, the gel polish started shrinking right on my nails! She inspected my nails and kept on fussing on why it was doing that.  She reached out to the owner of the shop and they both exchanged a conversation about what was done. The owner merely said to me in one short phrase (I wouldn't even say it was a complete sentence) that my girl put on the oil when she wasn't supposed to.  I told her "Oh, that's fine" while thinking all in my head that she'll be removing that first layer to redo it correctly the second time around.NOPE.  The owner swatted away my girl to grab--sorry I meant to type PULL-- my hands towards her and roughly wipe my nails with a cotton ball soaked with alcohol.  Now we all know gel nail polish doesn't come off like that... The only intention with that was to take the oil off. After the owner was done half-assing on the wiping, my hands were tossed back to my girl, where she proceeded to paint two more layers ON TOP of the messed up layer.Oh my god... You wouldn't believe how repulsed I was.  Either way, I didn't say a word.  I was still nice to her and smiled through it.  I thought, "Maybe they'll charge me less."  Heck, I work in customer service and I would extend that courtesy knowing how I messed up!Again, NOPE.  I was still charged the full price, with no apology and no explanation from my girl or even another acknowledgement from the owner.Just a FYI, I still typed my girl 20%.  I figured, she's new, I don't want to ruin her confidence. How I regret that.  Today I am writing this review a few days later.  And my nails are completely bare.  For the most part, the gel nail polish did not stay on, and the ones that did, were lousy.  I paid $30 something dollars just to go through this horrible experience and to have them taken off by someone else. cheap? ... and lousy service.I tried their $25 manicure/pedicure deal. which cost $35 after tipping 2 people. I should have just tipped them each $1 instead of $5. They sat me at a nail station with my feet facing one direction, and expected me to twist my body to the right so the manicurist could do my nails. It was EXTREMELY uncomfortable. Why didn't they seat me in one of their pedicure chairs, I asked. They said 'that costs more' ...  The pedicurist brought out a tub of water and soaked my feet about 2 minutes. She didn't even wash them or use a pumice stone. She just clipped my toenails and put polish on them. She did 'wash' my legs with some kind of scrub, which she did not completely rinse off and offered no massage with lotion afterwards. I needed to rewash my legs when I got home. The manicurist was much worse.  I did not want any nail polish on my fingernails. I  just wanted them trimmed, shaped and buffed.  The guy misunderstood my directions and cut my nails completely off! And he nicked me and made me bleed. He did not even put lotion on my hands after my "manicure"  and when I asked for some lotion he said " $10 more"  for rub.  WHAT?  Did I mention his being on the telephone during my entire 5 minute manicure? Yup, he did that, too. I will NEVER  go back to this cheap, sleazy, uncomfortable salon.  They seemed nice enough, but they are willing to cut every corner, and charge extra for what should be standard services.PS:  The next time some idiot decides to have a phone conversation while working on my fingernails, I'm walking out. And, I will refuse to prepay/tip at a new salon in the future; they can wait until my salon experience is completely over for payment and gratuities. Read Less

I work on broadway and decided to stop in here for a quick eyebrow wax on my break. Cheap enough, $10. They were quick, and my eyebrows looked pretty good after. So I decided to try a brazillian next time. Big mistake. The girl didn't sanitize me at all! She didn't wear gloves! She kept missing spots and had to pull over and over. After, I got a quick rub with baby oil, and she made no attempt to get the remaining wax off... Gross! When I was putting my clothes back on another lady barged in to check her cellphone muttering "sorry, sorry, one minute, sorry." hello, I'm naked here! That wasn't the worst. When I got home I saw a bunch of remaining hair, I mean patches of hair. And later, it's about to get graphic, btw, My inner lips, you know, lips, had swelled up twice their normal size cuz she pulled way too close! Even as I write this I feel worse about it. I don't care if you have a dense foliage situation goin on down there, avoid this place at all costs. Read Less

They get less than zero. Most horrible, traumatizing nail experience ever. I had to wait months to write this it was so upsetting. They used old, ancient old topcoat on my manicure- so thick it made a spider web when they opened the bottle then cracked on my nails like shattered glass two days later. I was wearing new Uggs, so I said, please don't use that topcoat on my pedicure. The woman argued  "It makes it last longer". 90 minutes later, shivering in their freezing salon - I came in to escape the rain and cold, my toes were still tacky. I had missed two trains waiting for this polish to dry and wasn't about to miss a 3rd. I asked them to remove the polish so I could leave. She argued with me again. The thing is not only would my toes have been ruined but my new boots too, so I insisted they remove the polish. Finally she took it off, and seriously, she was yelling at me. It was horrible. She was horrible, whoever she is, and this place was the absolute worst. A cup of hot tea, an agreement instead of an argument. Product that is new.  It's not asking too much. Take it to Relaxing Nails in San Mateo. They rock. Two words: Hot towels. Read Less

Let me start by saying that this place is the worst nail salon I have EVER been to.  I will NEVER come back. I was suggested this place because of the cheap mani/pedi combo that they have. ($25)  I could have done a better job myself after a night at the bar.  Not only that but their nail polish was old, everything smelled of nail polish and acetone, and there was NO ventilation (isn't that the law??).  When I left I got NO top coat, no drying spray, no clean up around my nails where they had messed up, and no UV or heating lights to dry my nails, so my nails were quickly smudged and ruined. My toes were just as bad.  The lady actually hurt me when cutting my cuticles. It hurt so bad I cried out on pain! Same as my fingers,  they had nothing to help them dry, no heating, no fans, no UV lights...so they wrapped them with saran wrap before I put my shoes on.  Can you believe that?  How unprofessional.  When I got home 1/2 of the nail polish on most of my toes came off.  Awful. You get for what you pay for.  I can't wait to go back to my nail lady.  That's all I have to say. If you think (incorrectly), that I have foot fungus why are you going ahead and using your tools on me and giving me a pedicure??Let me backtrack. I have Psoriasis. It's not contagious, it's an auto immune disorder inherited from one of your parents (thanks mom). I know for a fact that to be licensed as a nail tech you are trained to identify different skin/nail issues. There is some on my feet and it can cause ridges and yellowing in the finger and toenails which can also look (kind of.maybe, nobody else has ever said that and I get pedicures everywhere) like a fungal infection but it isn't. I tried to explain AT LENGTH that it was psoriasis and she insisted that it was "something bad..in my blood, need doctor", furthermore ARGUING that I had a fungal issue and going so far as to call a co-worker over to look at my fingernails.I went ahead with the pedicure and the massage was good but she didn't use the coarse thing to exfoliate and make the heel soft at all. I had to go home and use my Ped Egg.P.S To the girl who got burned here you should stop getting waxing done at nail salons. If you don't see an ESTHETICIAN OR COSMETOLOGIST license on the wall then they are doing it illegally. I'm not saying these ladies aren't legit but do check in the future. Read Less

Reading other reviews and comparing to my experience as a long time customer, it is unfortunate to hear about the negative experiences. I regularly go for eyebrow wax and regular pedicure. They do a great job maintaining my eyebrows and are very quick, which has been very convenient in the past when there are many customers in the salon, I can quickly slide in and out. I always just do the regular pedicure in a tub on the floor to help cut down on costs. I do the spa chair as a treat ... and boy do those chairs give you a workout! I've been to other fancier salons where the chairs barely work and should be replaced!!Tip: Give this place a second chance and be sure to ask for what you need, try to make conversation and they give their best service =)Cheers! I was searching on yelp for a nearby inexpensive nail salon and didn't like the choices. I found a review of Rainbow Nails on another site and decided to give it a try. I called to make an appointment for 3 manis and pedis for later in the afternoon. I was impressed that they could accomodate my two friends and me at the same time, and here's the best part-- it's only $29 for a spa mani and pedi, and, they use OPI polish!Because of the low price, I was a little scared, but us girls were on a budget (needed to save money for cocktails after). The tacky sign on the outside has a rainbow on it and looks like the front of an old laundromat. I took a deep breath, and went inside.I was pleasantly surprised by the size and cleanliness of the place. The decor was decent and the stations weren't cluttered. We liked that they had 3 spa chairs in a row and each one had a trashy gossip mag on it, awaiting our perusal. What better way to spend an hour than getting pampered in a massage chair with an In Touch magazine? Btw, the spa chairs are the real deal, not just the faint vibrating ones. Jenny was great, actually I think both girls are named Jenny. I'm a picky nail person-- the fingernails need to be filed in a rounded square and toenails perfectly straight, and I hate when they get polish on your skin. At Rainbow, my nails were well shaped and the polish was perfect.  And Jenny, not sure which one, gave a foot massage so good my toes cracked. So, for $33 (includes tip) I got a great manicure and pedicure, a wonderful shiatsu-like chair massage, AND got to check out Britney's worst outfits of 2006.

Read Less
