I used to love to come to this place. I would go all the way out of my way from Oakland passing up several nail shops because of the quality of service and clean shop. It only takes one time to mess over my child. We were rushing into the shop and my 8 year old had to use the bathroom. I told her to run ahead of me so she wouldn't wet herself. When I walked in I was told she could not use the bathroom because it was for customers only and we had to walk down to CVS. I told her we were getting our nails done today but she had to use the bathroom. She said I understand that she is a little girl but she cannot use the bathroom here. I told her we were customers and getting her nails done today but she had to use the bathroom bad and your going to just let her pee on herself? I got upset and started yelling because that is ridiculous. I come here all the time and then suddenly I am treated bad. Never again. Do not come here. You will be treated like the homeless in the neighborhood. Parking is already bad. If I hadn't paid for my meter I would have went to another shop. Read Less

Had the worst nail experience here. Came in to get acrylics removed, and was told to sit and wait. I figured the wait would be 10-20 min, or until one of the three ladies finished with their clients. I literally waited for an hour and 10 min before being told to head to the manicure seats. Waited another 20 min before she came to take my nails off. She should have told me if the wait was gonna be like 90 min long!! Previous places I went to soaked the nails in acetone for 10-15 before taking acrylics off, but here they literally just peeled the acrylic off my nail. I could see a layer if my natural nail literally getting peeled off with the acrylic and it REALLY HURT. I was literally cringing the ENTIRE TIME but the lady didn't even notice. My nails are painfully thin now, and will bend even if they just make contact with my skin.So thin and uneven after getting peeled off that she couldn't even file/smooth them properly and you can still see bumpy/unevenness on my nails nowWasn't planning on tipping but the lady literally stood next to me and watched me as I paid so i kind of had to. Worst manicure experience I have yet to have. Never coming here again. I went into get a dip powder manicure and the woman who did it obviously didn't know what she was doing. As a result the polish started peeling off not even two hours later. It is suppose to last up to two weeks. It was $35 plus a $5 tip. So expensive for a horrible job.When it started flaking off two hours later I called them and asked if I could come in and get it taken off. I also wanted a refund. They couldn't do a refund and offer me store credit but said they would take of $5 because they had to take off the manicure that she messed up on!!! Ludicrous. Not only are you not going to refund me but also CHARGE ME for her mistake!!! Wow. Horrible. If anything they should have given me my money back and a gift card. My nails are ruined. They're so thin and frail because of the fact that they had to  dremel off nail polish for two manicures on the same day. Awful. Rolled in here and treated myself to an acrylic manicure and pedicure. It was quite honestly a scary experience for the acrylics because the lady was not gentle at all! It really was a nail-biting experience (get it? Haha) when she was polishing my nails with the electric polisher. I was nearly at the edge of my seat because I was so scared it was gonna cut off my cuticles. Luckily I didn't bled but if I did, I wouldn't have been surprised. Their prices are much lower than what it's usually charged. For heavens sake my acrylic manicure was only $25! That wasn't bad at all! And also the lady who did my pedicure was somewhat warm and nourishing with my feet. It was my first time getting a pedicure and she made sure I had a good first time! Ok at first the acrylic nails were fine. She did her job. But now that I'm looking at it more closely, I noticed she didn't even fill in the sides. You can totally see my actual nail. What the fuck?! And she probably felt like she was doing a crappy job replicating the nail design I wanted that she made me pay after she painted one nail. I thought that was really odd and somewhat shady but whatever. I'm pretty happy with the design but the placement of the acrylic is not that great... This place is cheap for a reason lol. A-OK is the perfect rating for this place. It's fine. It does the job. It's very no-frills and the vibe noticeably not upbeat. But, if you just NEED that mani-pedi, and don't need it to be a nice, relaxing, spa-like experience and you don't need the quality to be the best ever, this place will do. $29 for mani-pedi, and walk-ins are welcome. In fact, the place was completely empty when I walked in; and the technicians were sitting around on their phones looking pretty somber. The emptiness made me nervous, but I was in a time crunch and the other shops nearby were all booked. The nail techs were all business, not terribly gentle or warm. But again, I needed those nails did, and did they got. The manicure & pedicure were pretty thorough. And they have fairly new massage chairs. Typically, I like getting mani-pedis with a gal pal. Other nail place wrecked my nails. These ladies fixed them with easy. They even gave me a hand massage after which I never have had when getting acrylic nails filled? So awesome! Hahn is the best. She's very detail oriented, and takes great pride in her work. I used to go to Oakland to the salon she worked in just to get a pedicure from her. Now she's right in Berkeley which is so much closer to me. I never have to monitor her or watch what she's doing, I can literally pick my color and relax, sleep even knowing that my feet are in her hands. This nail shop I would pass by a lot going to work. I decided to try it since I need a convenient place to get my nails done regularly. I've been there twice for a gel mani/pedi (color of choice on mani and French pedi always). They do such a great job welcoming you inside. They seem to be organized and ready for whatever. They have the lemon cucumber water for pedis which is nice. The two times I've gone there I have been completely pleased with their service. They finish in a reasonable amount of time (45-60 minutes for gel mani pedi) and my pedi has stayed for a month and my mani stays for about 2 1/2 weeks so I would get that done again more frequently than the pedi. I work at a gymnastics coach barefoot and spotting with my hands ALL DAY LONG so having my nails done just makes it feel nice and not like you have to have ratchet nails all the time lol. I will definitely be making this my go-to spot for a while until I move next year! Highly recommended in my opinion. Also I usually do walk-ins. The two times I've gone on a Wednesday afternoon during a break from work and they had time for me right away although it did fill up pretty quickly after I came in so I may start making appointments just to make sure they can fit me in cuz I have a pretty packed schedule. Also I only gave them a 4 out of 5 because of the way they do my French pedi. I like the more squared off look on the end rather than a rounded line at the ends of that makes sense. But it doesn't bother me much it's just a preference! The price is do-able for me ($57 for what I get plus a tip) and completely worth the quality work they do! Today my friend and I went to Anna Bella Nails because JV Nails on University was not open when it said it would be (supposed to be open at 10am, and not open by 10:15am when we left). I wish I could give this place zero stars.. Because I have been a faithful customer (and when I say faithful, I mean I don't go to ANY OTHER SHOP) for YEARS && this place is on a rapid decline. Wtf happened? I guess I should start by telling you how much of a happy place this was.. The technicians used to be friendly, they used to take their time.. My pedicures would last a month.. && I'm a runner with some ugly ass feet guys.. My manicures only lasted about a week && a half but that's pretty good considering I work with my hands. My toes nails && cuticles used to be flawless, each nail perfectly cut && shaped.. Top shelf nail polish..They even used to scrub the bottom of your feet with sliced lemons. It was the works && for only $20-25.. I was so thankful for this hidden gem.. I guess I started noticing the quality going down when the prices started going up.. Now a mani/pedi is $27 && please listen to me when I say SAVE YOUR MONEY. My nails && feet look like I did them myself.. At first I thought I might of just got a newer technician && she didn't know the standard of the shop. I let her slide.. But my last visit will be my final one. My usual lady was snappy with me.. She rushed, managed she made my finger bleed and didn't apologize. && IDk what she put on it but my finger was burning && hurting for the next few days.. Instead of walking from the left side of my chair to paint my right hand she kept yanking my arm across my body oddly aggressively.. If she wasn't painting my nails I prolly would've swung on her.. 2 days later my fingernails were chipped && I wasn't even at work.. Oh, they're also doing this new thing where no matter how long your nails are, they'd rather file them then cut them off? So at closer glance, all of my nails are unevenly filed.. Honestly, I don't understand the negative reviews. I guess if you're looking for a bunch of personal undivided attention, then go to a spa, but otherwise this place gets the job done well.Yesterday I entered without an appointment, was asked to pick a polish, and sat down. The woman doing my nails (she didn't have a name tag, so I can't be specific) was polite and got to work right away. About halfway through, she asked me to pay in advance, so that I wouldn't mess up my nails later if I had to get my wallet out. I paid $12 for the manicure, plus a $3 tip. She worked quickly and my nails were absolutely beautiful. The woman next to me was getting a more extensive gel manicure, but seemed to be enjoying herself too. This place is okay. I went in to get a full black matte acrylic set for Halloween. My nails looked fairly good, but not nearly good enough for how painful it was. When I came into the salon all the women were huddled up in a corner except one, who was watching a show on her laptop. No one really greeted me, just told me to sit down and they would tell me the price later (it ended up being $23).While I was getting my nails done the women doing them kept digging her nails into my fingers, wasn't gentle as she switched between fingers and hands (she twisted my middle finger around so bad it popped my knuckle, which has never happened anywhere else before), and she cut the side of my thumb with no effort to stop the bleeding or apology. I get my nails done like once a month now and have pretty tough fingers, but my hands haven't hurt this bad after a manicure since I was younger and got my first set on. Will not be going back here.First, I had to explain several times to the woman that we wanted gel NAIL POLISH, not gel nails. I asked how much it would be for a gel nail polish manicure and pedicure and she was confused and had to ask the younger woman next to her the price. I was told it would be $32. I asked, "$32?" just to make sure, but got no answer. Then when I went to pay I was told it was $52! When I pointed out that the other woman had said it was $32, they insisted $52 was correct. I guess $32 for a gel nail polish mani/pedi was too good to be true. $52 was a good deal nonetheless, but I was extremely upset that they had given me the wrong price, otherwise I would have gone with a regular pedicure. Hopefully the gel polish lasts for how much I paid.Both women working on my nails and toes cut my skin/cuticles and it wouldn't stop bleeding. The woman on my pedicure kept shaking her head and making noises every time she would wipe my toe and it would keep bleeding. They both put this blue liquid stuff on the cut, which stopped the bleeding but stung. I am used to my cuticles bleeding when I get mani pedis, but they kept messing with them even after they started bleeding. Furthermore, the woman on my toes had super long nails and kept pressing them into my toe when she was applying the gel polish. My poor toe was sore long after I finished my pedi.I would say this is a good place to get a cheap $27 regular mani/pedi, but I will definitely not be coming back.*** UPDATE:2 days after I got my gel polish mani pedi, i noticed the skin on my foot near my toes was red. I go here every two weeks to get my nails done and evry month for my pedicure. Not gonna lie, my first time here was not amazing.  The lady that did my nails was rude, abrupt, and honestly didnt do a fantastic job. However as I pointed out to her each mistake she made, she graciously went back and redid it. The second time I came back she did a much better job and she started to figure out what I liked and expected. She would check with me throughout the process yo make sure it was going okay, because the first time when she had messed up, it took her 30 min to fix. The second time in there, I gave her a great tip and she was very appreciative.  Now she loves when I come in and does my nails really really well, cause she knows I will leave her an above average tip. I feel fine with doing this, because the prices are lower than average.Today, I got a pedicure and mani, and they did it simultaneously.
