I went for a fill with a friend of mine and my fill was so bad 2 nails fell off the next day. The guy who did my nails was extremely rude and was watching videos on a tablet for about 10 minutes before he finally took me. My nails looked horrible after he was done. Really nice people. Terrible execution. They airbrushed the tips of my French manicure and put WAY too much gel on my nails. I wouldn't have an issue with them airbrushing but the layer was so thin you can could see the grain from the dremmel. You can see it through the gel also. Aside from that the nails were uneven and the edges were sharp to the touch. Not worth what I paid for. Read Less

Average job for the price. When I let them know I wanted a pedicure with color removed only and no new toenail polish I was given a look like I made no sense and then was told "most people want color". I let it go and did my best to engage in conversation and that was unsuccessful. I wasn't keen on the pounding on the bottom of my feet as part of the massage and then to have one leg and foot massaged less than the other was a disappointment.  I probably won't go back. I went to this place for the first time last month . I wasn't too impressed , my nails barely lasted 2 weeks . I decided to give it another try because the price is reasonable and location is great.  The first time I was there they were pretty rude to an Indian woman that was telling them she didn't want gel , they laughed , and gave her gel anyhow . After she told them about 10 times she didn't want it . This whole thing was going on and on for 30 mins or so . Was very unenjoyable. Today I went back . It was the same man and woman there working . He was very short . And got "irritated" with me for not relaxing my thumb . Actually stopped his drill and stared me down. Really ? This is how you treat paying customers ? I then got a pedicure from the lady , she took my polish off with polish remover so I know she knows I didn't have gel on my toes . Then proceeded to put gel on my toes , after halfway trough . Then she asked if I wanted gel. Ok , I guess? Meanwhile they were turning anyone that came in away telling them they were too busy . After she gelled my toes , I go to pay and he tells me it was $55 . As he was arguing with another customer that walked in and wanted a pedicure . My total should have been $35 . I'm not sure how it was $20 more than it should have been . Maybe they should take some walk ins instead of upping all the prices and services without asking?  I don't know . It wasn't a great experience yet again . This time I won't be going back . Which is too bad I like supporting local businesses . But their attitudes and unprofessionalism are just too much for me . On July 14, 2017 - my fiancée took me to the Retreat Nail and Beauty Bar. This place is one in a million, it really is. Our experience was fantastic. The EXCELLENT people who work there truly gave us a wonderful and memorable moment for us to enjoy ourselves and relax. When having our time there, it was a moment that we really did not want to end. I used to go here 6 years ago and they were amazing. I recent started getting my nails done again and chose to go back. It was a huge mistake. Not only did I feel like I was being rushed on, but I had to point out that my nails weren't even fully covered with polish. So disappointed in the quality of service I received. Will never go back. I've never heard of this place before but when searching for nail and spa places for the day before my friends wedding, I came across The Retreat! Everything about the experience was great! Prior to us coming in the owner Hanan had emailed me and told us that she was able to close the place for the hours that we were there and made everything so personable for the bride. Hanan researched on acoustic hula music for the bride to be and we were able to bring in some snacks but s...he provided us with water, coffee and tea. Our nails looked amazing for the big day and their RMT John, is great! He was very professional and gave us great deep tissue massages. It was so good that one of the bridesmaids from the Philippines wanted to bring her mom there before they went back. I've been going here for years and up until today was mostly satisfied. I'm a nail biter and have been maintaining acrylics on my nails for 4 months while kicking that habit.  I was really excited to have the acrylic soaked off and finally get a manicure on my own nails! I went in as a walk in and there was only 1 other patron. I told them I'd like my acrylic soaked off and a manicure with gel polish. Seemed easy enough? I sat down and the female owner drilled off my current gel polish and placed my finger tips in the acetone for no more than 1 minute per hand before wiping them dry, and proceeds to use giant nail clippers to cut off the tips INCLUDING my own nail underneath!!! She then pulls out a plastic nail tip and shoves it between the acrylic and my natural nail and rips it off! Ouch!!! I could have done that at home for free, the point of me wanting them soaked off was to protect my own nails! I went from having perfect length growth underneath to barely finger tip length uneven nails. I wanted to cry!! I worked so hard to stop biting so I could have pretty nails of my own. Her response? "They'll grow back in like a week" no they won't and that's not the point! I ended up having to put the stupid tips back on at a charge of $25 just so I wouldn't have ratty short nails. Just came home from getting my nails done at Phoenix.  A little back story, a week ago I went and got a gel manicure from another salon in my hometown Vacaville.  My Noel peeled after 3 days and my nails have been breaking off and are very thin (similar feel when you take acrylics off super brittle).  Anyway, I walked into Phoenix with no appointment at about 10am and was immediately seated.  I wanted a simple gel manicure, one color, while my nails recovered.  Annie came to my rescue, did what she could to file and shape my nails, and even gave me a hand/arm massage (so nice, a lot of places do not massage with gel manicures, I am almost always willing to pay extra for hand massage lol).  My nails came out much nicer than I thought they would considering the disaster the other salon created.  I can't wait to go back.  Everyone was so nice, even the other customers.  Definitely definitely will go back! The owner is extremely friendly and the atmosphere has a modern & clean vibe. They practice the best hygiene and sanitation practices of any salon I've visited. I absolutely would recommend The Retreat to friends and colleagues, but I'll be finding another salon for my regular gel refills. The first time I visited was a gel refill with nail art. It took over 3 hours, but was relaxing and fun. And the nails looked amazing. It was pricier than expected, but also more effort... went into sanitation, so that's understandable. The second visit was with my mother for gel refills and pedicures. Again, owner and atmosphere were great. But due to available techs, we tools turns getting feet and hands done, which meant that we weren't together for any of the time that we were there. The pedicure seats are lovely to look at, but my preference runs toward the recliners with the jet massage foot tubs. I actually had trouble getting my feet in and out of these foot tubs, and because of the angle, found it was an effort to keep my feet on them. In addition, the pedicure tech had the sniffles. Of course we all get colds, but the sound was distracting and made things feel less sanitary. Having said these things, they do amazing nail art and I'd recommend them. I have been here before for a pedicure, usually turns out fine. Today, I went in for a mani and pedi. The pedi went ok. The Crackle polish didn't really crackle, it left one streak per toe. Oh well, next time I get a different polish. But, the manicure was the WORST I have ever had. First, he was going to even out the length of my nails and CUT THEM ALL OFF! I can't even scratch my arm. Then, while pushing my cuticles back, he starts watching the show on TV, behind him, and completely misses two of my cuticles (which is the main reason I get a manicure). The "massage" part consisted of him rubbing lotion on my inner forearm, then three of my fingers, then shoving his thumb in my palm, then repeat. I left there almost in tears, he cut my nails off that I just got to grow back, after not growing for years, due to a vitamin deficiency. I noticed on my way home, that whatever "oil" he used on my hands, smells weird, almost like bug killer. No stinging like it is, but it does stink.
