WORST experience I’ve ever had- charged 2x more than what I asked for, bubbles were showing in my nails- when I asked for it to be fixed they said they couldn’t, it would take too long and I had to deal with it. I never treat myself. I chose Artist Nails based on reviews... and I wasn't disappointed. Tina was wonderful! I have short nails so I opted for the powder dip and I love it! My pedicure was relaxing and lovely. Not once did I feel rushed. I can't wait to go back and take my daughter this time! Read Less

Generally, I am happy with the quality of my pedicure when I've gone. But I've been here a number of times now and over time the environment has felt a little oppressive, like a sweat shop. I don't know how the workers are treated but the environment doesn't feel great. I should probably look for another salon. Read Less

Umm did I go to same place where these other reviewers were?!? I'm sure people have had good experiences here and I am happy for them, but mine was the ABSOLUTE WORST. I came in wanting a gel manicure and pedicure with French tips and left with horrible nails and feeling super stressed out.I had called a few days prior to make my appointment. The day of the appointment, I called to confirm the time I was supposed to arrive and the receptionist said that I wasn't in her schedule? Regardless of that mistake she was able to put me in. The gal who was doing my pedicure was sweet but was obviously new and did a poor French tip (see picture). My pinkie is basically white and here is no curve to the line, just straight across the nail. She also didn't even use the scrub on me for more than 5 seconds. Whatever, it was frustrating but was fine letting it pass. The REAL problem was the manicurist. Her name is Jenny. She comes over and doesn't say hi, instead she moves my water bottle onto the floor and grabs my hand. I told her I wanted a square round shape but apparently to her that was impossible because my nails were short? I get my nails done frequently and I've never had a manicurist say that my nails were to short to be shaped. Now they are just completely round. Before she starts painting she just flops this clunky gel dryer machine onto my lap with no warning. Then asks me to look at my nails if I like them to which then I saw a hair sticking out of my pinky nail. When I pointed it out to her she basically snapped at me and said I DONT SEE HAIR. It was literally like a pube hair on my pinkie, you really couldn't have missed it. After going back and fourth with her I just say screw it because I'm not about to argue over hair at 5pm on a Wednesday. At this point I'm so uncomfortable and just bummed because this was supposed to be enjoyable. Not to toot my own horn, but I am a very patient and reasonable person so you really have TRY to screw up to make me upset. After tolerating 15 more minutes of this woman she finishes and asks me if I have open toed shoes. I don't because I just got off of work and I've always been given FREE paper flip flops after every pedicure I've ever gotten. Not here, they are $1.00 which is just insane considering these break really quickly and I'M NEVER WEARING THESE AGAIN. I'm pissed and just want to leave. $60 for the whole ordeal. This is the best part, I get to my car and really look at my nails and THEY ARE COVERED IN FINE HAIRS. For details please see pictures. After this experience I would never return or refer my friends to this salon. I hope no one has to experience what I did and could enjoy this place l because a lot of other staff seemed really sweet and it was quiet. *Last note - previous reviewers said they use copper basin bowls which is why I wanted to come here because it's more sanitary. Nope, they have those big bulky all-in-one pedicure/manicure chairs and put a plastic bag in the water to protect your feet. Have fun. Read Less

This place is really good! Lots of colors and awesome service! Quick and professional. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5: when I went with my best friend they rushed a little on hers and one finger ended up chipped and scraped within a day. I have had good results the last 3 times I've gone. We only did regular mani-pedi; haven't done acrylics here but would like to. Overall good service and results! Read Less

No matter how busy Naveana is, your nail technician will take their time with your nails and do them perfectly.  I always get my mani + pedi's here and I have never not once left disappointed.  The ambiance is relaxing, it is a very clean salon, and it smells amazing inside! Ive been coming here for a couple years now. I visit maybe four times a year. Consistently this place is professional, courteous, and even when they are reassigning their staff to get everyone to their services on time, it's never taken from the quality of my experience. I've been going to this nail salon for many years with my sisters. Even when I moved to Sacramento I would drive to get my nails done here because the nails salons in the Sacramento area just did not compare! I've found one nail salon in San Francisco that is the same quality I get from Naveanna but double the price! I will go to Naveanna forever! The manicurists are always amazing and friendly and do their job well and the owner is so sweet! Even her husband and family are great who you'll see from time to time in the salon. After Onzen advised me they were no longer doing nails I called Pari, who does my facials, and asked her for a recommendation.  She had recommended Onzen and I trust her judgement.  She recommended Naveana, commenting on its cleanliness, although she couldn't remember the name.  But she told me it was in the same block as Renée's Chinese restaurant, on the same side of the street.  That made it easy to track down and I called yesterday to schedule an appointment.  I could get an appointment at 1:00 or 1:30.  I opted for 1:30 but ended up there just after 1:00, as Alan and I finished lunch up the street at Sunnyside Up sooner than planned.  No problem.  I walked in and was immediately assigned a technician, Kim.The space is clean and spare, w/ several pedicure chairs against the west wall and a few manicure tables across the room on the opposite wall.  Overhead music was playing, the first two pieces from the Buena Vista Social Club.  I really liked that.  Kim took me to the last pedicure chair.  The chairs are high, w/ arms that lift up for easy access.  There are gold-toned heavy plastic bowls w/ built-in water faucets that seem to be part of the chairs, which eliminates the lifting of heavy water-filled bowls.  The bowls are covered w/ a lightweight disposable plastic liner and then filled, which is hygienic, because the liner is discarded (recycled, I hope) after each use.  The one difficulty for me was removing my shoes and socks because the chair was so high.  Kim helped, which I appreciated, but next time I will wear sandals, which are easier to remove and put back on.  Kim was gentle and thorough in her work and my toes look and feel good.  I don't use polish.  When I was finished I went up to the front desk to pay.  The cost was $22, $4 less than at Onzen.  Tipping is cash only.  It's not added to the credit card bill.  There are envelopes for the tip.  Anna at the front desk tactfully explained their process.  She was a little reluctant to schedule my next appt, as they don't guarantee a particular technician will be working w/ you and they don't make reminder calls, but she did.  I can live w/o a reminder call, but I'm used to seeing the same person time after time, so we'll see how this system works out.  For now, I'm pleased.  Despite the unfamiliarity, I felt comfortable here. Left not feeling great about my first time at this nail place. It's clean, nice and service good. Weird thing, They line the tub with plastic wrap and don't run the tub. No spa experience just a soak. The woman who runs the place with her elderly mom are quite rude. Found it odd that my service was rushed. I couldn't even finish dying my nails when she came over, turned off the machine and told me to pay and leave. I asked her to break a $20 so I can leave a tip. I been here twice and I must say it's super clean and they have a great selection for gel/regular polishes. They are super professional and nice. It's a little pricey average gel mani is $25, but here it's $30. I got the same nail tech. twice she is very nice, but not that talkative to me.  She is talkative to her coworker. Other than that I enjoying coming here. The lady who did my pedi did and amazing job. I must admit it been a month now since my pedi and it still looks good! Getting your nails done here is like getting one of those half baked pizzas that you take home and finish off yourself.  I went in to have my gels removed and get a simple manicure a couple weeks ago. Anne fully scraped a hole in my thumb nail with the metal nail cuticle stick.  I only realized after I was touching up the ragged cuticles and putting on a top coat today. I held my nail up and I could see a little bit of light! I removed all the polish and saw that there was a groove dug in my thumb nail, where she had scraped off the gel. Not only that, they re-use the disposable nail files from one person to the next. Plus, there was this awkward situation with this person's kids running around the salon, eating the salon's candy and leaving their trash for the workers to pick up! I came here last weekend with my whole family of 5 (all adults). We made appointments so we could sit together during our pedicures, but when we arrived they said they'd have to do us one at a time. We understood, things get busy. However, my moms technician was so rough with her legs and feet that she was on the verge of tears. The water in all of our bowls was very cold and those of us that got painted nails felt that they did an okay job. Not the greatest service ever. We tried talking with the employees and thanked them often, but they seemed uninterested in at least acknowledging us. Is this the worst nail salon I've been to? No. Is it the best? No. Our favorite part was how clean and beautiful the place was. The chairs and bowls were beautiful and comfortable. I am hoping to go again today and try to get a gel manicure and regular pedicure. Prime spot for a mani-pedi date with a gal pal! It's spacious, they don't rush you in & out, the techs are very thorough (though, too gentle on the massage part. I suppose you could ask for more umph?). I really like the classy, relaxed vibe here with French music in the background. It's the little things, ya know. Quality-wise, my regular mani lasted a good week and my pedicure is still going strong. It's $36 for the mani-pedi combo, which is pretty comparable to other spots in town. Oh dear. I have cheated on Joi twice to come here... Seem to have more availability for walk-ins, which is nice. I like the ambiance & color selection at Joi, but this has a lower price point & I have seen some pretty awesome designs come out of here. I am not a fan of those crazy massage chairs (does anyone think they feel good?!?!?) & the disposable plastic tub liners. I'll have this place as my backup for sure :) Read Less
