Tim and Mimi did my nails. They both were meticulous in their craft. Mimi asked enough questions to get the shape just right. Her skill is beyond any nail tech I’ve ever seen. Not too much acrylic. First time I had come here. I thought It was going to be a good salon until I walked in and there was no one there. I asked if they did SNS there and they said yes so I decided to stay and get them done since it was getting late. I did research on SNS beforehand and they are supposed to last at least longer than 4 weeks. These nails that I had gotten done from them Did NOT. They barely even last two days without chipping and raising around the sides.SNS nails are supposed to be sturdy and last, without breaking or chipping!! On top of it all she cut my skin around my pinky nail and middle finger (pretty deep too). She seemed antsy to finish and the overall product was the worst I have had done at a salon. It was an absolute waist of 30 dollars plus a five dollar tip!! I honestly could of done a 100% better job than this Technitian. The color of the nail dip she used was not even complete, it was fading an uneven in places. The finished product was bumpy and did not have that "shiny Smooth finish" look to it. I normally do not take the time out to write reviews either, but WOW. The SNS powder and clear coat she put on had dropped on my skin around my nail-bed, so that was painful to remove myself. I should ask for a refund or to fix the nails(basically all of them) but I do not want to have them ruin my natural nails even more because when she used the drill to do the cuticle part of my nails, she wasn't even drilling where my cuticle was. As a result to that, a few of my nails have been permanently dented with a deep smile line due to OVER Drilling. Now I have to wait for my nails to hopefully grow it out! Nails are in worse condition than how they were before I went in. Terrible nails and experience overall. I definitely recommend going somewhere else or getting a different nail technitian then Yen. Will never go back, I'm going back tomorrow to get my money back. They are very hard to understand and overpriced. I got acrylic gel nails and they look awful. I asked him to file in the sides a little and he filed them past my real nail so now the nail is showing through, they did a really crappy job and when I was signing the tip receipt the lady wouldn't stop staring at me like she was pressuring me to tip more which made me feel uncomfortable. So annoyed, walked in and was asked what I needed I replied a fill and the older lady working at the front station said ok. At this time There are only two workers and two customers but since I wasn't in a rush I picked a color and waited, let's fast forward to 25 minutes later I sit down because she says shes ready for me and after sitting she says I can't do them the lady that does these is not here ... What ?! I just waited for no reason goodness gracious and even tho I was pretty frustrated at that point I just walked out and said ok and as I walked out I thought to myself I'll NEVER COME HERE AGAIN!! I did see the same lady do a manicure right before me which maybe that's her specialty ... Some people do feet,mani's, acrylics and that's fine. But I asked for a fill when first getting there and that obviously let her know I had acrylics on but instead of telling me in the beginning she or the older gentleman there don't do acrylic nails she had. I have been coming here for many many years. My mom would always take me here to get my nails done and we loved the service we have received. The owner Yen takes pride in her business and her clients. The last time I was here, I was disappointed by the service I had received. I was assisted by the older gentleman that works there. I asked for stiletto shape nails and he kept squaring them not understanding what I wanted. After I showed him a picture it was too late so I had to settle for a coffin shape. Halfway through him filing my acrylics he was tired and passed me over to Yen.She did an amazing job with making me satisfied! I walked out of there loving my new nails!...Until all of them came off in a week. They were poorly glued on- a result of the older gentleman. Had a coupon so I decided to go in. Honestly I regretted going here. While I only pages $13+tip for my nails, I think it was money wasted. The staff was nice enough, but they used a dremel to take off my old Gel nails and they did not soak my fingers before painting. They tried to shape my natural nails but it did an inconsistent job. Weird. I got new gels put on and it looks like an amateur painted them. Splotchy and thin looking. I think I could have done a better job - my nails look plain sad. Won't be going back. Got a coupon in the mail so decided to try out this place! Minimal wait to be seen, great price, and great work. My nail tech was very nice and really took the time to make sure her work was done well. I would definitely recommend and I will definitely be back :) Also I know other customers have complained on Yelp but they have signs clearly posted inside that if you are unsatisfied you must tell them before you leave and they even have the store owners phone number posted if you need. Otherwise they do not issue refunds after you leave, which makes sense in my opinion because if you personally mess up your nails, it's not their fault Read Less

If you have an appointment, as I did each time, and someone walks in two minutes before your appointment, they will take that person first, and ask THE PERSON WITH THE APPOINTMENT TO WAIT!  In fact, the workers look at you AS IF YOU ARE CRAZY when you state that you made an appointment!  What is the point of making an appointment?  I had my third AND LAST trip to Colorful Nails today because of this unprofessional practice.  I expect a salon to honor my appointment time, and not make me wait while they take a walk-in customer right before me.For the record, the man who made my appointment today (and has done my nails twice before) wouldn't even make eye contact with me when I walked in.  He KNEW he made my appointment, he KNEW they had screwed up and taken walk-ins just moments before my appointment time,  and he sat silently while another nail tech told me that I'd have to wait.  They were just filling the tubs to start on the pedicures of the two women who walked in moments ahead of me, so I knew that I'd be waiting 45 minutes, and I HAD AN APPOINTMENT. Horrible experience and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. I always see the same nail tech and she's amazing, unfortunately she is not there anymore (they said maternity leave but I don't know if she's coming back). Every time I get a full set done by one of the other nail techs, I have at least one or more nails break off completely within less than 3 days. I brought my friend from out of town to get her nails done, she was having a tough time and I wanted to cheer her up. One of the nails techs sprayed her with nail glue. It was all over her hair, eyes and clothes. It was also Friday night and we had been planning on going out, so that didn't happen.I would not recommend this place unless you enjoy making extra trips back to get your broken nails repaired. My hands and fingernails were a mess from bare handed gardening and pulling weeds. I haven't had a manicure or pedicure in a long time, since my last pedicure at a nearby nail salon resulted in the nail tech cutting one of my toes, followed by a cellulitis infection, followed by 10 days of antibiotics. My daughter had been to Colorful Nails several times and highly recommended them, so I thought I would give them a try. I got the basic manicure ($12) with clear nail polish. I figured if I stuck with the basics it would be harder to mess it up. I called ahead and was told to just come in, no appointment needed. I show up 10 minutes later to find all 5 pedicure chairs full and two people waiting for manicures and only 3 nail techs working. This doesn't look good. One of the people waiting for a manicure looked upset and got up to leave without having her manicure (waited too long). Suddenly, 3 more nail techs burst through the door and instantly start working on the me, the lady who had been waiting, and on a couple of the pedicure clients who had just been soaking. Turns out the owner's brother also runs a nail salon and they had no customers, the owner called him and he and his whole staff closed his salon and drove right over to help out. My manicure was excellent, including a massage of my hands and forearms (something that should normally be part of a manicure, but seems to be done at fewer and fewer nail salons). The other customers seemed to have excellent results from their nail work as well. There is indeed a big screen TV, but it can only be seen from the pedicure chairs. For those of us getting a manicure, it is not visible at all.Parking is close to the door. Other reviewers mentioned they were given something to drink--not so for anyone I saw there on my visit. The staff looked very stressed and focused on the task at hand with no talking (possibly due to the rush of customers), but once additional nail techs showed up they started smiling and interacting with the customers. I've been here a few times and have had consistent, quality service. After getting tired of seeing the product of my own piss-poor attempt at a pedicure, I stepped into Colorful Nails today for a pedi-makeover. They have a laminated sheet with the various services that you can look through which I thought was nice, since it describes each service in detail. I chose the hot stone pedi for $20.They have a good selection of colors to choose from. After soaking in the foot bath, the gentleman doing my pedi did a great job with removing the polish, trimming, filing, and applying the different layers of polish and clear coats. He was gentle, thorough, and detailed. He even gave a great foot massage with the pedicure.Everyone here is very friendly, and there's a big screen TV for you to watch if you so desire. The polish looks great, with an even color and high glossy finish. You can add tip to your credit card here too, unlike the nail salon next to Sprouts where tips are only in cash. Finally, friendly folks who do the job right.My wife decided after several years to have acrylic nails put back on.  Previous visits to other salons for manicures and pedicures found weird attitudes from techs, infections, and manicures that peel off in two days.  We wanted a place that would welcome us, provide good service, and have good prices.  It is amazingly hard to find all three of these qualities in a nail salon.My wife used to do nails when she was younger, so she knows what she is looking for.  One thing that she noticed about this place was that when Tia was doing her nails, she planned carefully and put on just enough acrylic to finish the job with a minimal amount of grinding.  This way, she saved time, product, and money.  When the nails were complete, they were done so well that before the color went on they looked like her own natural nails at first glance.  This shows good skill on the tech's part.The end result?  Just look at the photos that I posted here.  Nice shape, nice job overall.  If my wife is happy, then I'm happy.  You can currently find good coupons for Colorful Nails through Valpak.  If you have the GeoQPons app on your iPhone, you can also find printout coupons there.Just one IMPORTANT thing.  This salon does NOT have a storefront on McClintock.  The salon on the street is called Leo Orchid and has terrible Yelp reviews overall (see for yourself).  Since they have the same address (being in the same complex), people tend to confuse the two (Leo Orchid apparently also honors Colorful Nails coupons, adding to the confusion).  The salon is near Xtreme Bean and used to be called ABC Nails.  From McClintock, turn on to Southern past the Walgreens and then make a left on Butte to turn into the back side of the parking lot.  Colorful Nails is in the long building there.If you are looking for a nice set of nails, complete with freehand nail art, these folks will make you happy.  Tips by credit card OK.
