I've tried this place twice, and both times I was very disappointed. The first time I got a gel manicure. The manicurist burnt my finger with the gel, and I left with a sloppy, uneven manicure that chipped within days. Had a terrible experience at this salon. They had me wait close to 2 hours for them to fix ONE broken nail. They continued to take more people who had checked in after me so they could make for money doing full sets when I was SIMPLY needing one nail fixed that had just been done 2 days prior. After finally speaking up about how long I had to wait they saw me and they tell me it will be 5$ to fix one nail! I said I'm not paying anything after I spent 80$ here two days ago, and definitely not after being here for 2 hours. He guy began to argue with me, (barely able to speak English) telling me "do you run a business?" No I don't. But if I did I would make sure my clients got what they paid for! I ended up having to walk out because my blood was boiling. YES, I left with out even getting my nail fixed after waiting 2 hours and spending 80 dollars for a crap job. Tuoc ( pronounced "tuck", I think), was great. The other staff was engaging as well. I heard them ask other patrons about their work and lives, something I never hear in these establishments as they usually chatter away to each other in their native language. This staff asked politely "How may I help you?" instead of barking "What you want?" from their stations. There is ALOT of choices available in this type of shop. I've been coming here every month since May to get my acrylic nails done and filled. I'm extremely happy with them given my past experiences with several places improperly fitting the acrylics and causing fungal infections. Henry is very careful every time, friendly, and pays close attention to the areas affected from previous bad nail jobs. I drive from South Mountain and it's totally worth it - great job, great prices, and clean! Had my very first pedicure yesterday and it will not be the last. My grand daughter has been going here for years to have her nails done. For my Christmas present she took me here. The people are so nice and make you feel welcomed, not just a customer. I was very impressed and greatly enjoyed getting my feet done. I have been going here since 2012 when we moved in around the corner. At the time I was 8 months pregnant with my youngest. He's now 3. They always remember me. Kim always asks me about him and now he's doing. Ownership has changed a few times. Kim has been constant and is amazing. She is very soft spoken and incredibly sweet. She also does a fabulous job. There hasn't been a time I've been disappointed. A few times I've gone other places closer to work in a pinch and just have never been satisfied. I always end up coming back Lavern's. Every tech I've seen has done a good job. Their pedi's are amazing and well priced. They give you a sheet to pick your price pint and it lists all that is included. They keep the shop clean and use disposable liners on the foot baths. Individual wrapped tools are opened and used for each customer. You won't be disappointed. They start to feel like family. I have going to Lavern Nails for years . Today I called to my appointment with Kim for a pedi and wax. My appointment was set for 3:45, I arrived promptly but she was running about 15 minutes behind.  I was finally called back at 4pm. After my wax Kim started on my pedi. At 5pm another coworker came up to me to relay a message from the manager that next time I call in i need to specify what kind of wax because he only put me down for an hour and Kim had another customer waiting.  In utter shock I told her that I was also waiting 15 minutes and that as a manger he should have asked what kind of wax I was scheduling so he could have set his appointments accordingly.  She then tried to explain that he is a man and cant be asking those types of questions.  After the change of ownership Lavern Nails is not the same. Not good!! After literally working nonstop for 2 1/2 months and wanting to treat myself to a much needed pedicure; found this place online with good reviews... WRONG! I was scolded upon greeting due to being 10 mins late. I had even called saying I was lost, but was told only upon arriving that I would have to wait an hour for my services; all the while there were two techs free and only one person in the place with another tech. Even after telling me I had to wait, she further let into me saying she had another client shortly and would only have a couple minutes for my pedi, if she could fit me in at all!!I am not a difficult costumer in the slightest; usually tip very generously and thank whoever assists me multiple times. I have also worked in the service industry 10+ years and this is the first time I have ever poorly reviewed a business online. I cannot afford to treat myself often nor have the time, so when I do and am faced with such crudeness... Well then you know its bad!I am completely appalled by the customer service and honestly, the salon was dirty and with the limited selection of old and separating nail polishes... I usually maintain my own nails but this time I broke a nail, and I wanted my hands to look special for my niece's wedding.  I went here based on Google reviews so I found a coupon on Google, and did a walk-in.  I know this sounds chauvinistic,  but my nail tech was Billy; I thought he did a nice job. Staff is very friendly.  Linda the owner is very nice, and she makes efforts to make the shop look aesthetically pretty.  It is a clean shop.If you don't bring your own nail polish, they have a nice selection.  While you wait to get your nails done, they show the latest movies.  All in all I thought they did a good job.  My nails looked beautiful with no bleeding or pain involved.  I have been back since. I went somewhere else in the neighborhood to save a couple of $. I will be back to Linda & the ladies @ Laverne's. OMG, what was I thinking? In 3 yrs I hv had 1 nail break due to my clumsiness & 1 slightly lift. They are the best I hv found around here. The girls r great & do an excellent job. One warning, listen, because everything adds to the bottom line. I went in to get a mani-pedi & was charge $78 before it was all done. the pedi lasted all summer with a lot of compliments. Read Less
