Very disappointed. I had heard great things about a male tech at Deluxe Nails, skilled at the latest trends, and decided to stop in to schedule an appointment for the upcoming Saturday. The tech sitting at the station to the left seemed to be in charge of the appointment book. She was RUDE to the point of being angry, why I don't know, when I asked if there was a male tech skilled at Coffin shaped nails, the shape I wanted. She insisted there was no male there that does acrylic and that no prior customer of theirs would have told me such. Well, that was fine, I wasn't insisting that only a male was required for my business and I chalked her RUDE demeanor to the possibility that she was having a horrible day - nothing personal. Her client noticed that she was being difficult and suggested that "Trisha" should help me out and schedule my appointment. Trisha scheduled my appointment, curtly I might add , and I left. I should have known then, based on the exchange that took place to schedule the appointment , that my experience there would not be good. I went in as scheduled, Trisha was working at her station, and she barely acknowledged my presence when I arrived. I asked if I should sign in, she responded yes. I signed in, took a seat, and sat waiting long enough to finish my cup of coffee. Finally, a tech approached me and asked me to choose my color . That I did and the tech returned and showed me where to sit for my service. Initially, this tech seemed appropriate, but seemed to not understand the Coffin nail shape I requested. When I offered to show her a picture from Google, she declined, saying she knew what it was. Okay, the WEIRD was happening all over again. As she began to work on my nails, she seemed to want to talk about why I was in Fountain Hills. I offered that I recently moved here and was in search of a nail bar close to home rather than Scottsdale. Then she began to press for the name of the Scottsdale salon I went to. I simply refused to answer. So now the WEIRD factor is even greater. The tech then begins to question how I think she should file my nails to achieve the Coffin shape requested. She declined my offer to show her the images on Google earlier, so I pulled up the pictures to settle any confusion. To answer her question, I suggested that she should taper the tips and square the tops. She then responded that she could not do it. Her reason was a very disjointed attempt to explain that what I requested was not possible, to the point that it seemed to me that she wanted to end the service then and there. Her tone was sharp, voice volume elevated as well, and it was clear that the people getting pedicures were aware that there was some sort of problem. By now I realize this situation is no longer WEIRD, but inappropriate. I recommended that she finished up by doing the best she could just so I could pay and get out of there. As she finished up she pulled my hands, snatched my hands to position my nails as she wanted, and never said another word. Finally she finished, I put on my coat and went to pay. I typically tip 30% but this was a 0% situation.Based on the work she clearly needs to attend a workshop or two. But truth be told, I get the feeling the preferred clientele are the ladies age 70+ at Deluxe Nails. I wish I had read Yelp and all the negative reviews prior to my appointment. Needless to say, I will spend my money and time elsewhere. 0 stars - 0 tip. Gave them 1 star for the purpose of saving this post. :( Read Less
