I was in Chandler on business yesterday and thought I would end the workday with a relaxing mani/pedi. Unfortunately, my experience was the exact opposite. First, when I walked in I noticed a quite unpleasant smell -- like rotten eggs (I think it might be the gel stuff or some other product). When I requested a simple French Manicure, I was pressured to do a gel manicure. I politely explained that I didn't really like gel manicures, and the standard would be fine. As my feet soaked in the tub, there was some stupid, loud prank show playing on the television, which was really obnoxious. Then, the technician began working on my feet. From the start, she was extremely rough on my cuticles, jabbing and scraping to the point of pain. I kind of squeaked in pain a couple of times and jerked my foot away. Then she found a hangnail and very roughly jabbed the tip of the scissors under to pull it up and cut it -- roughly enough to draw a little blood -- so. much. pain. (which I said to her). In the meantime, she had put some gel on my callouses and then proceeded to use a CHEESE GRATER -- yes, an actual cheese grater -- to remove the callouses! I have NEVER seen that in any shop I've ever visited. Suddenly I realized that there was a burning sensation from the tops of my feet -- my skin was beet red and burning. I told her to stop what she was doing, that my skin was reacting to something (I don't typically have sensitive skin). She then grabbed a spray bottle of ALCOHOL and sprayed my red skin -- PAIN AGAIN!! After I yelped in pain, she quickly rinsed by foot with cold water. I told her I was done and was not going to continue with any treatment. I paid her for a standard manicure, but I really felt she should have refused my money or at least offered back half. The toe where she dug out the hangnail still hurts like crazy. I bought some antibiotic cream and am so scared of getting an infection. I have been getting pedicures for 30 years and I have never experienced anything like this.UPDATE: I did, in fact, end up in Urgent Care four days later with an infection in the toe she jabbed into with the nippers. I had to take a course of antibiotics, as well as use a topical antibiotic ointment to clear it up. I am now looking into how I can register a formal complaint with the Arizona Department of Health. For the sake of your health, I would strongly urge you NOT to patronize this business. Read Less
