I've been patronizing Beauty Brands for many years. On 4/20/18, I had an appointment for an eye brow wax. When I was there I asked if someone could also take me in as a walk-in for a hair trim. The stylist (Wendy Carrasco) that was doing my eyebrows said she could also trim my hair. When I received the bill there was an EXTRA charge of $10.00 for Dense Hair. I asked why the fee for dense hair, and the reply was because I have thick hair. I replied by saying that my hair is NOT thick, and that I had never in the past 10 plus years had I been charged this EXTRA fee. In fact I'm seeing a doctor for thinning hair. When I went to pay my bill, again I asked about the additional fee. The Sales Associate, Alyssa, claimed it was something that the Corporate Office was implementing if you have long hair. (My hair is above my shoulders cut in a bob). Long story short. I was not please with this bogus extra charge, so I complained to the corporate office. I was eventually reimbursed for the EXTRA FEE. Had I never complained to the corporate office this would been swept under the rug by all involved at the salon. The only reason I give the salon a 1 star is because my usual stylist Cristina and Also Chelsea Gonzales, the Esthetician are awesome. I'm going to MISS them. I called and got an appointment the same day. I was a bit nervous as a new client to the salon a having a new stylist. Crystal is who they scheduled me with. She spent five hours on my hair, as it had been seven months since I had last gotten color and a cut. I am so happy!! My hair color is amazing and a perfect cut, too! Very disappointed with my service here. I went in asking for an ombre and left with partial highlights. I was told that my hair couldn't handle what I wanted, but I know my hair and I know it could have handled it. I explained to the hairdresser who was supposed to be a master stylist that I wanted something drastically different because I was feeling very drab. She told me she would give me partial highlights and a cut and it would be super different. She told me it would be cheaper than what I had asked for. I still spent $200 and came out looking exactly the same as I went in, except for the few inches of hair she cut off. I am so tired of being talked out of what I want when it comes to my hair. This master stylist even did a hair test on some of my hair to try to show me how it would break and kept pulling at my hair thinking it would break, but it never did. I feel that that showed my hair could have handled an ombre, but I believe this stylist didn't want to do it. I will not be coming back here. Read Less

I was very disappointed with my service. The hair stylist completely talked me out of what I wanted and then suggested I just do partial highlights. She kept saying she was saving me money, but it cost me $200 and I left looking the same with some highlights when what I wanted was a whole new hair color. I know my hair and what it can handle and this stylist was suppose to be a master stylist. If you are an african american woman with a kinkier hair texture trying to get a DevaCut do not go to Zonia! This salon is very nice and so are the ppl but Zonia just does not know how to do natural african american hair. Took my daughter here to get a makeover for her Sweet Sixteen. The makeup artist was great! My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the experience and left feeling like a princess. While there, I walked around the store and saw that they have great products with amazing deals! Hemp lotion for 7.99 with coupon?! What?! Won't find that deal anywhere else. I called and was scheduled with a "master" stylist for a cut. I arrived and my stylist took me to his chair with no introduction. I told him I wanted 3-4 inches off. He said color was 20% off and I asked him how much everything was. He said color would be $86 w a few foils also and cut is normally $40 but since I'd be a new client he'd do $25. I thanked him and agreed. Almost 4 hours later I was ready to leave. Bill had $32/for cut and no discount. I asked for the discount and 20% was taken off color only. Fine! I tipped $25/off total bill. When I got home and looked at the back of my hair...I CRIED!!! My son said "your hair is jacked!" The thing is ...I was starting at new job. My cut is horrible and my kids could cut better. I called the salon and was offered a new cut within 2 weeks so it could be comped. I declined and said I'd like my $$ back so I could go to my old stylist. After conferring with the other manager approval given. I got back my $32...a total loss on the tip and no apology offered. Nothing else was done to make this bad situation better. Extremely disappointed!! Now I start my new job with a horrible hair cut. Now I'll have to lose more length to fix it. First time salon customer today. On their website, it says haircut/style is $25.00. No complaints about the stylist, but when she handed me the receipt, it said $39.00. I didn't want to make a big deal out of the price discrepancy, but I did ask the cashier what they charge for "just a cut, no shampoo, no style", which is what I asked for when I made the appointment. She said for "some stylists" it's $25.00, just depending on what stylist. I just want to warn  others that haven't been there, that if you're expecting to pay $25.00, make sure it's understood up front that's what you want. This review is specifically for the DevaCut haircut I got from Zonia. I had never had my type 3b curly hair (I'm half black and half Mexican) cut while it was still curly and I was TERRIFIED that I would leave with most of my hair chopped off. Zonia double and triple checked with me to make sure the amount she was taking off was ok and when she cut she didn't take more than what she said she would. She talked while she cut and explained the "science" behind having hair cut while it's curly and went through the benefits of it. After cutting my hair she washed it and styled it using DevaCurl products. I loved the fact that she showed me the PROPER way to use these products!! I had used them before and didn't care for them, but she showed me how to use the Pre-Poo, One Condition, and Gel and WOW!! My curls have never looked so healthy, shiny, defined, and bouncy!! And to top it off, the actual cut was DRASTICALLY better than anything I have ever had in my life!! I swear I almost cried I was so happy with my results. My boyfriend and family all agreed, the DevaCut is the cut for me and Zonia is the stylist to do it! She knows what she's doing, she's extremely kind, and my hair cut and her advice were worth so much more than the $52 she charged me. I also want to mention that I appreciate her honesty- most stylists will tell you to get a touch up in 6 weeks so they get more money in their pockets but Zonia told me that I shouldn't need another cut for about 4-6 months. Stopped in Saturday night  for the first time. A very nice employee gave me a tour.  I told her that I may come back another day to get my brows done and she said, wait, maybe I can get you in now. In front of me she asks this employee if she could do me real quick and she said she was busy cleaning up. Again, right in front  of me. I guess a loss of sales is no big deal here. Like an idiot I set an appointment for today for a shape, not a clean up, a shape. So today, again, nice greeter, takes me to this employee who says, " you just need a clean up right?" Sensing this a place I made a mistake coming to I resign myself and say, yes. Needless to say my brows look like crap. They are uneven and sparse. Review for hairstylist and shop. The prices for products are fair and competitive. I love that they have Dermologica in all sizes and even have the kits for a very reasonable price. Tons of shampoos and conditioners, but no hair color kits and very little in the way of makeup and body wash.The haircuts I have gotten from Priscilla both times were utterly perfect. Chelsey has always provided the very best in customer service. She really knows the products! My daughter and I are so pleased to have this store close by our neighborhood. The location and the business hours are so convenient. This store has Special Saturday and Girl's night out events that are fun and informative. Summer cuts our hair and she is so friendly and does such a great job, each and every time. We look forward to getting our hair done.We cant wait til she comes back from maternity leave. Katy is a cashier there and she is always friendly and speedy, we never have to wait in line. My daughter also appreciates Nicole who completes all of her waxings with professionalism and is always on time for her appointments too.
