Never would have known about this place if my friend hadn't asked me to take her reservation today. This, by far, has been the best customer service I have ever received, at any nail salon, in my entire life! They don't use power tools and there weren't any fumes. Very friendly staff. Regular & Gel polish cost the same - no up charge. If you have an issue with your gel polish, you can come back within two weeks and they will fix it for free. Also, if they put it on, they'll take it off for you too. They use natural & vegan products. I think I spoke with almost all the staff at one point or another throughout my visit. Julia took great care of me as she did both my mani & pedi. She also gave me a complimentary paraffin hand dip because my hands were super dry. She always checked in with me about pressure for the sugar scrubs. The atmosphere wasn't overbearing with product, and the staff only brought out what they needed on carts from the back. I initially went to Rose Hip because it is so clean; all the tools come out of packages like at a dentist office and the pedicure tubs are large bowls that can be cleaned after use. I keep coming back to Rose Hip because of the staff; they are so nice and do detailed, thoughtful, and original work. Ashley did an amazing job on my nails and hands. My hands fall victim of Alaska's dry winter weather resulting in dry skin and terrible cuticles. After my service, a manicure with design, my hands and nails have never looked so good! Their products used are good quality and they have many gel and regular nail colors. They're able to do "in fashion" nail design as well. It's more like a dry manicure than the kind you find at Pro Nails or Today's nails. I came here for a gel manicure. The nail technicians were incredibly friendly and did an amazing job. Took a star off because the second I walked in, I felt death glares by everybody and it took a while for them to attend me. Also, the gel came off about a week later, and my manicures always stay put for about a month. However, when I finally was attended, the girls were very sweet and helpful. I was really hopeful for some resolution after I filled out the survey that showed up in my email after my visit two weeks ago. I am not one to complain or put negative marks on any business but after zero response I am left with no other option. My email stated:I am extremely disappointed in my very anticipated trip to your salon. After spending $65+$10 (tip), a total of $75,  I am walking out of the salon very unsatisfied and no polish on my toes. I learned after my pedicure I accidentally booked the wrong service. When I let the tech know I was surprised I didn't get polish, she apologized but made no attempt to offer me the additional service. Although for a fee of $50 to not include polish is absolutely ridiculous. My pedicure service was maybe 45 mins long. As the tech wrapped up my 10/15 min manicure (only because I sat w. Wax on my hands for most of that time) she left my hands  covered in remnants of the  paraffin wax as she dismissed me and thanked me for coming in. I was shocked, to say the least. I will say she was very friendly maybe just new on the job? When cashing out w. Another employee, she asked how my service was and I relied 'ah it was ok'. I have never ever thought I'd say this; I'm certain I've found my nail lady in Anchorage and that it is the most ideal after-work self care ritual! Their appointment booking system online is pain free. I was able to write down on their "tell us anything you'd like us to know" section right before confirming my appointment that I'm Deaf. I explained that I don't read lips. I prefer the old fashioned paper and pen method. Ashley took the time to write back and forth during entire duration of our appointment. I felt so well-treated as like other customers who can hear. My manicure was just the way i wanted it to be. I had some coffee, I also smelt really delicious after the appointment all thanks to the oil mixture they used. I also liked the fact that this studio didn't reek of that strong "nail salon" smell at all. I would also advise anyone looking for a chair massage or "traditional" nail salon to not come here. Rose hip is all about customized art without any additional costs. It's straightforward here and it will cater to your taste. Love the location and ambience ! Great style with modern vibe w/excellent music playing overhead. The technician was sweet and did a nice job. Touch was not as professional as other places I've been. But,the pedi was good overall. The bowls for the pedicure were a little ackward and the water got cold quickly. I hope they can get stable staff. I work in the medical field and spent the months leading up to my wedding going in for mani pedis to prep. when I showed up with my bridal party 2 days before my big days with a couple of extra people they got everyone in, charged minimal fees, and took their time with everyone. There were things that I really liked but things that I'm not impressed with at all. Today I'm noticing all the nail polish that is under my nails and all over my skin. $50 for a pedicure is ridiculous when it looks like this, I wish I wasn't in such a rush yesterday I would've looked a lot better at my feet. My experience here was great.  The atmosphere is very welcoming.  Everything seemed very clean and sanitary.  The technician was lovely.  The hand scrub was amazing.  But...my gel polish started chipping in about 4 days.  Not what I expect from a gel manicure.  Sadly, I won't be returning. This was my first time at Rose Hip and I will definitely be back.  Natasha did a fabulous job with the Shellac manicure, I loved that she really took the time to make sure my nail beds were perfect before she applied the polish.  Plus, the manicure was the same price as one of those shops at the mall but a million times better, especially in terms of atmosphere and cleanliness.  I do wish the chair I was seated in was a bit more comfortable, but all in all I would 100% recommend Rose Hip! Very hygienic nail practices. They don't do fake nails so there is no headache-inducing smell. The nail techs are talented, professional, and nice. I've been there several times over the past 6 months and have never had a bad experience. You'll pay a little more here for a manicure but it is definitely worth every penny. Read Less

Meh. Nothing special here, definitely not special enough to charge $50 for a pedicure. My regular place charges $30 for a pedi and I didn't notice a difference. The tubs are nice and clean but awkward to get comfortable in as you can not bring the seat back or forwards. Nice selection of colors! Great first experience! I booked an appointment online (bonus!) and they were timely and courteous from the moment I walked in. The woman who did my pedicure was pleasant and did an excellent job. I appreciate that the pedicure bowls are not jetted and are able to be thoroughly cleaned as a result. I came in for a design on my mom's nails. There ended up being a miscommunication between the front desk in the manicurist. I got an apology and $10 off but what I really wanted was a polish change to come back to get for what I asked for in the first place. Nobody got back to me and I never got resolved. I was loving this place until this time. They will not have anymore my money I just requested a polish change credit to make up for the fact I didn't get designs that I asked for. Read Less

I had a great experience! I received the express mani/pedi and it truly was express but quality was still exceptional. One nail technician works on your pedicure and another works on your manicure at the same, in and out in exactly an hour. They won't charge extra for design work and they get genuinely excited about doing cool designs. I had come here with a group of friends to get manicures for an upcoming wedding. Most were happy with their manicures, but mine was very disappointing. The technician was very quiet and seemed to take it personally any time I asked for clarification. No small talk, and extremely rough when it came to cleaning up my cuticles. 7 out of 10 of my cuticles are now bruised a day later, and she had cut into me with the scissors a few times. Two of my nails have small hairs under the gel nail polish, and it's too late for me to fix it in preparation for the wedding now. Additionally the gel has already started chipping where the clear coat wasn't added. No lotion, no massage, and the technician was not friendly. I won't be returning. Read Less

Expensive. The girl that did my nails didn't really clean my nails very well. I feel bad that the technicians need to lift the big tub of water to change it. Also. They need shorter stools. The technicians are not using proper body mechanics that is going to give them back problems later. It's hard to get reservations with my two other girlfriends all at the same time. I really want to like this place and have been looking for a new place. But, the two times I have been in haven't been the greatest experience. 1st time I walked in for my scheduled appointment, was ignored by both of the girls working there to check in.  This time I was at least greeted. I had been told by multiple people that this was the place to go for a good pedicure and figured that I would give it a try. The pedicure chairs do not have massagers in them, the tubs they use are uncomfortable and awkward to put your feet in. We are going on 5 days with this pedicure and it is already starting to chip. For the price that I paid for the pedicure, you would expect it to last longer than what it is. Will be continuing on the hunt for a new shop. Read Less

My nails were horrible! Literally hillariously thick with an acrylic overlay. (Wait till u see pics) when I walked in I was impressed with the calm, modern, warm and simple design. Both girls were very kind and professional. They laughed with me at how horrible my nails were;) I was very impressed with kiertstyns knowledge, talent and Patience! It took four wraps to get all the crap off my nails and she educated me every step of the process. My nails are amazing and on their way to rehabilitation lol. So I have been to this nail salon 2 times now, once with my teenagers and once with my under 12 daughters. I love that they treated my kids the same quality as adults , other places I've tried treats kids with less quality and rushes through the service. I had appts both times and we were seen on time. We had manicures and pedicures with shellac. It smells so good in there with oils they use and products. The pedi water smelt so good! I love that they show music videos during your service it is more relaxing than crappy tv shows or sports . The staff showed great customer service which is very important to me. They don't have massage pedi chairs but it was still well worth going here. And very relaxing. Lastly, they don't over do your cuticles and gouge your nails so you get in grown toe nails.
