Alexis has been styling my hair for quite a while now, glad to see her in an amazing salon that she loves! As long as I live in Birmingham I will never use a different stylist. I send everyone I know to this salon. The girls are extremely knowledgeable and professional, and the talent in this place exceeds other places. I have very thick, long, and curly hair. Great service and great environment! Took my daughter for her first haircut and they were so accommodating for us having the whole family in there to watch, haha. Kids cut was $18 (we saw a master stylist), which was so much more affordable than most other salons. The quality of the cut was perfect. Will definitely be back. Read Less

I had such a great experience here! On a whim, I decided I wanted to donate my hair and called them at 4:30 to see if they had an opening that evening which I knew was highly unlikely. Their schedule was full, but they graciously said they'd fit me in even though they close at 6. They were very busy when I arrived, but without hesitation they still fit me in even though that made my awesome stylist stay late. On top of that, KISA gave me a rock star haircut!! As a guy looking for a new place, I was a little skeptical of going anywhere other than a barber shop. I took a chance and immediately fell in love with the staff at Beauty for Ashes. Every single one of the employees are highly skilled and are very attentive to detail. They also offer a wide variety of amazing hair products that are hard to find elsewhere. Stephanie, the owner, is amazing at what she does. She sets the bar high for everyone in the shop and makes sure you get the best possible service. Was looking for a Salon to do cut and color on a Saturday as basically a walk-in, and saw Beauty for Ashes on Yelp with an excellent review! Called and there was an opening, which was good because Erin spent 2.5 hours making sure the color I wanted turned out perfectly (went from platinum highlights to a cool dark blond). She was very personable and recommended a treatment to help my color stay longer, etc. The ambiance is very nice, and they do makeup, manis, and pedis as well. It is very conveniently located in SoHo Homewood. The only reason it's not 5 stars for me is partially my fault. David Beck has been my doing my hair for 14 years- he's a first class stylist who takes care of you, personally listens, and has the utmost pride in his work. He is a friend (I joke it's the longest relationship I've had with anyone since living in DC!) but more importantly a professional when it comes to your style needs. Whether it's a cut or color - event hair (wedding, photo shoot, etc.)  or blowout- he is your go-to. I highly HIGHLY recommend him. He's great with all hair types. I have referred several friends throughout the years to David all with varying hair types. Oh and he isn't a product pusher- but since seeing him I've fallen in love with the organic Kevin Murphy products he uses.
