Stumbled on this gem when on holiday in York. Amazing service and nails look fantastic, all for a really good price - even the green tea was delicious! I have gone to holly wood nails now for almost 2 years , and there nails are fantastic have never lost any the staff are always welcoming ,Katie does my nails and she is great , and the work andy does with the nail art is just fantastic so please give them a go ,, there always fully booked so if this isn't a good sign I don't know what is xx Read Less

I was recently persuaded to use Hollywood Nails, York by a friend. Having used many other Salons to have acrylic nails applied I thought I would give it a go. Whilst the staff are friendly and you do get offered a cup of tea/coffee, I have to report how disappointed I was in the nails applied. I had my nails applied on 13/7/2012 just ahead of a lazy, two week holiday in the sun. I intended to do very little but sunbathe and swim in the resort pool. However, by the Wednesday of the first week 4 of my tips had broken off. There had been no 'impact' issues and in fact one or two had broken off when I was simply picking up my very flimsy beach wrap off the bed! By the beginning of my second week I had lost 8 of the 10 nails - and only one was lost due to the impact with a kitchen granite worktop! My hands looked extremely unsightly and I was unable to have them repaired abroad as it was too expensive. On returning to the UK I telephoned the salon as I was so disappointed and quite annoyed that the nails had not lasted a week before breaking off. I have to say that in this type of a situation their customer care is non existent. However having persisted with the argument that I believed the nails had not been applied correctly, I was told to visit the salon and they would see what they could do for me. This entailed a 24mile round trip to York and parking charge, but I did as they asked believing they would correct the situation for no charge. Unfortunately I was faced with the same arguments at the salon that I had received on the phone, that it wasn't due to their application of the nails but impact that you should expect when wearing this type of nail extension! They also stated that had I been able to return to their salon within the first 7 days they would then have reapplied the broken nails free! This was despite the fact they knew I was going on holiday when I got the nails done, and I also advised them that I was unable to return within 7 days due to being on a 2 week holiday abroad. They did offer to redo my 8 nails again and infill remaining two, despite one of these clearly having a split along the tip line, but at the infill price of £15 - bearing in mind I had already paid £25 for the set in the first place which lasted less than 7days! I was unwilling to pay any more to this Salon than I had already had to 'fork-out' and therefore asked them to take the remaining two nails off and clear my 8 other nails of the acrylic for no charge. This they agreed to do. I am afraid therefore that I could not recommend this Nail Salon to anyone, unless of course, you are willing to pay £25 for a set of acrylics and run the risk of losing them before a week has gone by. I certainly would not recommend anyone has them done if they are planning to be out of the country for two weeks! These nails work out as a very expensive set of nails indeed! Read Less
