*****UNCLEAN TOOLS AND/OR NAIL POLISH USED AT THIS LOCATION***** Horrid details below! Posting on behalf of my best friend who went for a pedicure in December 2017 and is STILL RECOVERING now in March 2018. Here is her story:... I went for a pedicure before Christmas and I selected Polish Avenue Mani Pedi in Mission Viejo ironically because they had the highest Yelp reviews in my area. At first it seemed to be ok, then after more than a week I felt a mild irritation starting along the nail bed of my big toe, I thought at first it was maybe the seam of my sock rubbing across my toe. It wasn’t. The irritation wouldn’t go away and only grew worse as my toe began to swell, hurting much worse at night. The pain was so bad that normal pain killers weren’t helping, I had to take Tylenol with Codeine in it— the pain was that severe! I went to Urgent Care and in preparation for this procedure the doctor simply sprayed my toe with a spray that only makes it feel really cold (doesn’t actually numb you) ***please let that sink in and imagine for a second that you were me, feeling every aspect of what I’m describing here*** he then had to insert a scalpel at the back of my nail bed, pushing deep into my toe towards the knuckle, and immediately started moving the blade from side to side, back and forth, as fast as he could— breaking all the connections my nail once had with the flesh of my toe— and with me feeling all of this, he then (to my horror) pulled his blade out and had to grab and squeeze my toe to get the infected puss to “pop” out. Then he left and had his nurse finish the job. For all this I had to pay $450 and I still had to soak my toe 3 times a day to keep it clean. They said this was caused by either unsanitary tools and/or old, dirty, bacteria-growing nail polish. Both thoughts are utterly disgusting. It’s still not over... Now my toenail is finally growing out, except with no new toenail behind it. It looks horrendous. I hope my toenail grows back but the unfortunate fact is that it may not, because if the nail bed sustains enough damage, it stops producing a nail. So, if you’re willing to pay $450 for a pedicure and risk never having a toenail ever again, this is the place for you See More Read Less
