I went to Helen's many times and although I always found the staff to be unfriendly and a bit rude, I always tried to ignore that as they did a good job. But the last time I went it was disastrous. I was served by one of the male staff. As always unfriendly and very rude, instead of giving me directions on how to put my hand and so on, he stretched my hand out. He wanted to do everything fast and cut my finger with the scissors. He did not apologize for cutting me, but continued as nothing, my hand was bleeding and he just cleaned it with a napkin, put a green liquid and continued. I was in shock, I didn't know what to say. I will not go back.

Hard to know how to rate it. I used to go frequently, but there is one lady who ruins the entire atmosphere with her scowling, arrogance and blatant rudeness, so after tolerating her attitude last time, I vowed never to go again. There is one man though, who is lovely, really polite, patient, and excellent with nails. If you can get 'him' I'd give this place 5 stars. The rude woman, I'd send to do a course on how to treat customers and not drive them away! Actually, I'd probably just fire her, honestly, as I'm sure she's the reason for the bad reviews and also not very good.

Terrible experience, the girl never looked up from her phone and 5 minutes after I’d chosen the colour she decided to put her phone down but was still looking at it even when she started to get everyt...
Terrible experience, the girl never looked up from her phone and 5 minutes after I’d chosen the colour she decided to put her phone down but was still looking at it even when she started to get everything together!!!! I walked out before she could start.
Terrible customer service so rude!!!
It’ll teach me to be more organised and book my regular place!

Not the friendliest service but I put that down to the fact that some of the staff aren’t comfortable speaking English? So I’d prefer it if any chatting between staff could be understood by customers too...... I’ve had a full pedicure done here 3 times now and am a total fan. Every bit as good as (if not better!) than anything I’ve experienced even in London & Sydney!

I'm used to a really high standard of nail finish by my usual guys who arent based in Ilkley but unfortunately I'm unable to travel far atm to see them so I thought I'd go local.

I'm used to a really high standard of nail finish by my usual guys who arent based in Ilkley but unfortunately I'm unable to travel far atm to see them so I thought I'd go local.
It was the worst thing I could have done. I was greeted with animosity as soon as I walked through the door maybe it was because I was wearing shorts, fishnets and wellies after walking the dog whatever it was she wasn't pleased, made clear by an unprofessional look up and down at my outfit. She then proceeded to greet me with a grunt which I can only presume meant "hey come in would you like your nails done?

When she handed me the nail selection I was hugely disappointed to see the bog standard usual shellac etc nothing that's on trend so I went for a glitter one hoping it was slightly different but I was so wrong. The lady couldn't apply nail colour properly it was dripping onto the sides and it was so weak I had to ask for a few more coats by the 3rd coat I gave up.
What made it worse is she actually cut my finger YES cut my finger and I have photo evidence. Her nonchalant attitude towards my nails was so apparent I was so disgusted she didn't even give me a plaster. I know they are fairly cheap but they are cheap with poor quality. In this case you really do get what you pay for.
This place is fine if you want rude staff and zero customer service, one in one out but it's certainly not the place to go if you feel like treating yourself which I did after having major abdominal surgery.
Maybe the men are different but everyone seems like the waking dead in there. She also had the cheek to ask me if I wanted a loyalty card, darling I would never be loyal to you.

I go regular to Helens nails for shellac which always lasts 2 to 3 weeks for me. Quick and efficient with a friendly atmosphere. Great value for money especially if you use their loyalty card 😀❤️

Called in spontaneously the day before going on holiday. Really impressed with the gel polish I had done - now over days in and still as good as the day it was done. The speed and precision with which it was applied was great. Endless choice of colours too! If all you want it your nails painted and not bothered about the whole manicure treatment you'd get at a beauty salon then this is the perfect place.

I went to Helen's many times and although I always found the staff to be unfriendly and a bit rude, I always tried to ignore that as they did a good job. But the last time I went it was disastrous. I was served by one of the male staff. As always unfriendly and very rude, instead of giving me directions on how to put my hand and so on, he stretched my hand out. He wanted to do everything fast and cut my finger with the scissors. I will not go back.

I used to go frequently, but there is one lady who ruins the entire atmosphere with her scowling, arrogance and blatant rudeness, so after tolerating her attitude last time, I vowed never to go again. Not the friendliest service but I put that down to the fact that some of the staff aren’t comfortable speaking English? So I’d prefer it if any chatting between staff could be understood by customers too...... I’ve had a full pedicure done here 3 times now and am a total fan. Every bit as good as (if not better!) than anything I’ve experienced even in London & Sydney!

It was the worst thing I could have done. The speed and precision with which it was applied was great. Endless choice of colours too! If all you want it your nails painted and not bothered about the whole manicure treatment you'd get at a beauty salon then this is the perfect place.
