This post is on behalf of my sister, who just had a HORRIBLE experience at Venus Nails and Beauty.
"I was not given the service I paid for, I feel I was hurt on purpose, I have big bruises on my bikini line and I was treated in a terribly unpolite manner.
I had seen a voucher for a Hollywood and armpit waxing on Groupon for a fairly cheap price. Since I have had bad experiences with Groupon before, I made sure to phone up the shop first and ask about exactly what type of treatment I was going to get. I was told by the shop keeper that the treatment would be a hot waxing, so I decided to buy the voucher and booked an appointment.
On the day of the appointment, the person who attends me looks visibly annoyed at the fact I am there to get waxed and tells me to follow her upstairs in a rude manner.
Once upstairs she rudely asks me if I am going to pay for the treatment on the day and I reply that no, I have already paid for it and when I mention Groupon, at first she denies the fact their shop is doing this offer, then she tells me that I haven’t paid for armpit waxing, even though the voucher clearly states I have paid both and finally that the offer is only for warm wax.
When I say that I made sure it would be hot wax before buying the voucher she says that I must have spoken to her colleagues who don’t know about waxing and that I could have hot wax at an additional cost of 15 pounds. At that point I already felt there was something wrong with the whole situation, as if it had been rehearsed before to trick people. I insisted that I had a right to hot waxing because that was what I paid for but, since the situation wasn’t going anywhere, I accepted the warm wax.
During the treatment, which I felt was really painful, she also said she could not have used hot wax because her manager would be angry to know she would have wasted such expensive wax. At that point I was in pain so I did not reply that her colleagues told me she was the manager, but it stayed in the back of my mind.
The treatment was very painful and I had to endure her going over the same area multiple times, which would not happen with the higher quality hot wax. She also made me feel it was my fault for having thick hair, which in the first place is the reason I only choose hot wax. When it was finally over, she told me that in her opinion it is not worth it to try and save money on treatments that concern my body and that can save me unnecesary pain. This made me think immediately that she had made the treatment more painful than necessary as a sort of revenge for not paying the extra money.
When I asked to speak to the manager to complain in front of other customers, she finally admitted she was the manager and, when confronted on her previous lie, she changed subject. I finally asked for a refund or an apology and she asked me to leave the shop. Unbelievable!
My feeling now is that for some reason they offered a treatment which was too cheap in their opinion in hindsight and therefore, they tried to make money on the day on a service I had already paid for.
I cannot take responsibility if the shopkeeper I spoke to on the phone gave me wrong information, neither for them realising that they would not make money from this offer.
It was unbelievable to be lied to about her not being the manager and it was extremely rude I was asked to leave the shop when I confronted her about what just happened. Not to mention the pain and bruises I have now which were certainly a result of the wrong treatment.
I have had to see a doctor for my bruise and I am in touch with a solicitor to know my rights. This behaviour is unacceptable!" Read Less
