Went to Five Star Nails for the first time a few days ago and will definitely be returning this is now my go to nail shop, Not once did I feel uncomfortable we all had a laugh and what lovely people they are, I was told how much it would cost before getting treatment, there was no added extras put on, very reasonably priced but experienced staff who are very polite and welcoming, I was even offered a hot drink and didn't feel rushed to leave, in fact I wanted to stay longer as there company was lovely. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! I went to this place on a Sunday hoping to find someone who can do my nails every couple of weeks or so, since my old nail shop was a bit too far from my new place. I searched and asked for the same dip powder color I’d normally get at another spot, and received little to no help. After picking a similar color, the guy doing my nails started putting it on and it was at least 4 shades darker than what was on the sample nail. The manager was RUD...E and argued something about the display nail being white making the color lighter which didn’t make any sense. Every nail shop I had ever been to the sample nail was just about the same color but I ignored it and picked another color so he could just fix it and be done. The guy was rough with my hands, and had the speed of the electric nail file thing up too high even though I told him several times it was up too high. His work was sloppy, and he missed a few steps since this isn’t my first trip to the nail shop. But I was so tired I just wanted to leave ...LITERALLY 1 day later the top coat started to crack and peel. 2 days later a nail broke.. 3 days later another nail broke. I had to host a meeting on a work trip with 2 broken nails then return to Dallas and have another day of important meetings before making it back up there on Saturday. Again, the manager was rude. I told her I wanted the set redone and she refused even though I had got a pedicure there (it was crucial, I needed one). The girl doing my nails was also rude and jerking my hands and kept saying “I fix these two and make it better.” The older lady who did my pedicure Nikki was sweet which was refreshing. They could have earned my ongoing business, but the guy who originally did my nails, the manager, and the girl who fixed my 2 broken nails, lack of people skills and basic respect has me leaving this long review. I chose to stop at Cowboys nail salon with my fiancé on Saturday night around 9pm. Yes they stay open until midnight!! Anyway we both got pedis, she got a manicure, and I got a full set with Nexgen and my brows done. Tina was so funny and kind and Nina did a great job with the design. When you spend over $200 on services you expect it to last. This is where my problem came in. By Sunday afternoon the black had already started chipping and on Monday my nail cracked in half. I ...called the salon and they asked me to come in after work on Tuesday around 7. I get there at 6:50 and was seated then asked if I could wait. By 7:30 I asked if I could just schedule an appointment to come back. So we scheduled for me to come in this morning at 10. I get there this morning and decide I don't want the design unless they can do it in powder they say no so we do the base color only. Tina had another girl come in right after me so she was going back and forth between us which is ok but after inspecting my nails you can still see black under the dip powder. I went to the desk and asked if I could get a gift card for the design service since they charged me per finger for the original design. She didn't speak very good English and said yes next time just tell us. Cheap and cheerful. Had 3 different people doing my nails in the 45 mins I was there for a simple shellac treatment. Each person filed my nails down more even though I asked to keep the length. To top it off a dodgy guy wandered in asking for the owner to do 'business' round the back. Unsettling atmosphere. Read Less

I tried dip powder for the first time instead of gel, and Bea (B? Not sure how she spells it) did an amazing job!!! She had me laughing the entire time. The price was also great compared to other places I've gone in North Dallas. The hours are super convenient here as well. Read Less

Went with my family (4) of us and it was horrible my sister myself and my daughter got nexgen and my girl cut me 4 times on different fingers and my daughters nails are thick and uneven. My sister was charged $60 for "ombré" and because she went from acrylic to nexgen was never told it would be that much and we all received pedicures mine and my sisters feet are still rough. As I waited to be seated I looked at the brochure for the different manis and pedis. I was interested in the lavender mani and lavender pedi. When I was seated, not once did they ask me which mani or pedi did I want and when I finally realized it I mentioned it to them. It was my first time coming here and the price is a bit high and I was okay with that but even a cheap place adds powder stuff or something to your water while your feet soak! Nothing was place in my water. Th...ey charged me extra for the plastic bags with the wax stuff. Other places already have that included in the price when it's a signature pedi. They did not use stones or anything. It was a basic pedi with the only difference of instead of scrubbing with the basic scrub it was a lavender sented one and a lavender soap at the end. Some of my friends came here for a group party as part of a bachelorette party. They were attentive to us at first, but some of the technicians my friends and I had were so rude. The lady I had asked me about 4 times if I wanted this $45 pedicure instead and I told her no every time. I understand they have to ask if you would like a more expensive pedicure, but I politely said no every time and I guess she finally got it the 4th time I said no. After that she was very aggress...ive and rough with my pedicure. She cut my big toe short and used one of the nail tools and aggressively pushed back my cuticles and underneath my nail. My big toe was red and hurting, but I just figured it would go away. Today, (4 days later) it looks like I have an infection/ in grown toe nail. Looking back, most of these nail technicians are not skilled. One of my other friends had her nail cut too short and was bleeding and another had smeared nails. For as big of a place as this is, you'd think it'd be run better. Disappointing but luckily this is Dallas, and there are a million other places I'd go to before I'd ever step foot back in this place. Based on some of the other reviews, it looks like some people had the same problem about making their nails bleed, while some say this place is great. My 17 year old daughter wanted to treat me on my birthday. She knew she would get 50% off my pedicure if it was my birthday. She is on a limited budget. We were first time customers. My daughter got a manicure, bought her younger sister a manicure and my pedicure. It was late night and she timed it so that it would be close to midnight-my birthday. We ended up finishing before midnight and the front desk lady would not give my daughter their 50% off my pedicure. I normally get my nails done elsewhere, and it lasted me only 2 weeks. I recently came across this new nail shop after work at Five star nails.. and thought I try it. They were absolutely brilliant! they were so fast and really friendly! Ive been there a few times now and they last me for so long- up to 4 weeks? I'm happy to do the washing up and cleaning around the house now without having to worry about chipping my nails! I recommend Ladies to go see for yourself!!! They definately are 5 star!! Read Less
