Thank you Nikki Turco for making my day! I stopped by because this is my favorite boutique and favorite Benefit in Chicago but I haven't been by in about a year because I moved :'/ I told the girls that I was sad because Benefit stopped making my fav lipstick a few years ago and I was wondering if they had heard any news of bringing it back (Rush Hour-gold stick, they only made 2 colors,$20..)... Anyway Nikki proceeds to say "you mean the gold tube with the black writing?..like a mauve color?" I go "yep that's her", as I'm pouting.. She laughs and says "I have like 3 at home I would have just given you one." The other sweet girls were super compassionate about my lipstick dilemma and I'm about to leave and Nikki looks in her purse and pulls out a tube and says "Here! You can have this one, I really never use it..!" I'm like "seriously!"...long story later I offer her money, coffee, and even my dog and she said no, she was happy to make me happy! I took it an ran away before she changed her mind! I'm a retail manager myself and if all employees were like Nikki, stores would have been out of recession a long time ago!! Thanks Nikki!! I'm writing this review based solely on customer service and experience. I booked a spray tan after hearing rave reviews from the gals in my office. I called and made an appointment and was excited to get all bronzed and fab (I feel 10 lbs thinner after a good spray tan). I got in a cab up to Lincoln Park with plenty of time to spare, but there was some sort of accident on Lakeshore, so we took side streets. As 6:40 arrived, I saw I was going to be running a couple minutes l...ate. I called Benefit immediately and explained I was in a cab and would be 5-10 minutes late. The lady on the other end of the line said that would be fine. Traffic was bad, so as the clock hit 6:50, I asked the taxi to pull over and started running the last couple blocks to benefit (please appreciate that I was running in a parka with a huge tote bag). I arrived at 6:53 and the door was locked. There was 4-5 staff members inside and I knocked and gave a big smile and a wave to tell them "hey, this is the girl that just called, I'm here!". They rolled their eyes and came to the door to yell through the crack, "we're closed!". I politely explained I was the girl that just called and that I had an appointment. She gave a rude smile and said, "sorry, we're closed and our register is shut down". "I'll pay cash!!! I just really need the spray tan and I called and said I was going to be running late" She responded with "no, we're closed" and walked away.... After spending time in traffic in a cab and sprinting in my parka, I was not impressed. I had been working all day and looking forward to this spray tan before I headed off on my trip the following day. In full disclosure, I sat down and cried on the curb in front of the store. It was one of those days, and this experience was one of the worst customer experiences I have had in the city. Yes, I was late, but I fully disclosed that when I called and there was no warning about closing. Wouldn't you explain that to a customer who is busting their balls to make it to an appointment? There is a lack of professionalism here. Spending an extra 5 minutes would of been nothing for them and meant the world to me.
